A Storied History
In 1939, Fred Pabst of the Pabst Brewing family opened Pine Mountain to the public. He offered train trips from Chicago and Milwaukee to the resort, and it quickly became a top attraction in the region. After World War II, the venue was purchased by 10th Mountain Division vets Laverne Trepp and Irvine Johnson, who developed the venue further. Under their leadership, Pine Mountain became the first ski-in/ski-out resort in the area with 100% snow-making. Today, the venue features a top-ranked golf course, condos, and the comfy Pine Mountain Lodge, so your guests can stay on-site and enjoy modern amenities before and after the big day.
Picture-Perfect Celebrations
When the special day comes around, you can exchange vows on the expansive Sitzmark sun deck, overlooking the ski hill and its majestic red and white pines. Alternatively, go for an indoor ceremony by the crackling fireplace in the Alpine Room. The Sitzmark Bar & Deck is the stunning centerpiece of the venue, constructed with salvaged material from World War II-era fighter planes. This space has a stone fireplace as well as a private bar, and the adjoining sun deck allows your guests to move seamlessly between areas. After cocktail hour in the Sitzmark Bar, make your way to the Spruce Room, an elegant banquet hall, for an evening of dinner and dancing. You can rent all three spaces together, for a total guest capacity of 300. We found this place on a whim, but what a great find. The staff was amazing and did their very best to accommodate our needs. The food at Famers restaurant was delicious, especially the breakfast. We hope to come back again.

the staff are very accommodating/friendly. The beds are comfortable,smelled clean, and were stain/hair free. We rented the full cabin. 3 king beds and 2 baths.
The website states things that are inaccurate. No pet treat is provided on arrival. This was disappointing. It doesn't give accurate reservation information in the confirmation email, which made me feel anxious up until arrival. Stating different prices in 2 separate emails and not including the pet fee or deposit into the reservation. They are making website adjustments.
The room was not cleaned properly. Streaks left on all the table and counter surfaces, dirt and crumbs on the floor and under furniture. The windows were dirty. The patio furniture and deck were covered in dirt and pollen. Took a towel and cleaned the table and chairs so we could sit outside. Two of the TVs in the king rooms did not work. The AC in studio decided to act up at 3 in the am with some sort of flashing of the led light. I turned off the led light and we were good.
Shower in studio had hair and grime left on the floor, the soaps were practically empty, and it did not give hot water. This was disappointing after a day of Whitewater rafting.
We will be back for other adventures. Overall this hotel is worth the price and 3 stars. We will plan to bring windex and a broom for the next time.
The other half of our family stayed in one of the newer modular home rooms just outside the main lodge near the golf course. That room was really nice, and clean except for the floor. Since these rooms are so far from the main lodge, they shoul...
d consider putting a mini fridge with a freezer and ice cube trays in the room. They should also have extra linens and extra toilet paper on hand. Overall the modular home was nice and clean, and the noise wasn’t too loud.
I do want to give a shout out to Leslie, the hotel’s rooms director. She resolved an issue with our room quickly and professionally after some confusion with our online booking.
There’s a pool and a small arcade area for kids. We only used the arcade, didn’t try the pool, but it looked very nice. We didn’t eat at the restaurant.
Fun fact: there are tons of deer in the area, and they don’t seem to be afraid of cars, so be careful driving.
Pricing was fair, but they really need to invest in the property and improve the rooms and facilities overall.
Definitely not a 5 star. This place suffers from an identity crisis and lack of maintenance. Our bathroom was updated, but tiny. No exhaust fan. Poorly lit. And what's with the shower valve at knee height???

Thankfully we only were there 1 night.
