Your Memorable Mountain Wedding
Pine Mountain Ski & Golf Resort, in Iron Mountain, MI, is an Upper Peninsula gem and the perfect setting for your romantic wedding day. This winter sports haven boasts cozy, flexible, and romantic spaces where you can celebrate your marriage with loved ones.
A Storied History
In 1939, Fred Pabst of the Pabst Brewing family opened Pine Mountain to the public. He offered train trips from Chicago and Milwaukee to the resort, and it quickly became a top attraction in the region. After World War II, the venue was purchased by 10th Mountain Division vets Laverne Trepp and Irvine Johnson, who developed the venue further. Under their leadership, Pine Mountain became the first ski-in/ski-out resort in the area with 100% snow-making. Today, the venue features a top-ranked golf course, condos, and the comfy Pine Mountain Lodge, so your guests can stay on-site and enjoy modern amenities before and after the big day.
Picture-Perfect Celebrations
When the special day comes around, you can exchange vows on the expansive Sitzmark sun deck, overlooking the ski hill and its majestic red and white pines. Alternatively, go for an indoor ceremony by the crackling fireplace in the Alpine Room. The Sitzmark Bar & Deck is the stunning centerpiece of the venue, constructed with salvaged material from World War II-era fighter planes. This space has a stone fireplace as well as a private bar, and the adjoining sun deck allows your guests to move seamlessly between areas. After cocktail hour in the Sitzmark Bar, make your way to the Spruce Room, an elegant banquet hall, for an evening of dinner and dancing. You can rent all three spaces together, for a total guest capacity of 300. Just reach out to the talented events team at Pine Mountain Ski & Golf Resort, describe your vision, and they’ll collaborate with you to create the wedding day of your dreams.

Drove up in a really bad frozen rain storm and rented the big cabin with a bunch of friends. Cabin was perfectly secluded but easy to walk to from the mountain, and it slept 10 easily. Lower bathroom vents into one of the lower bedrooms so that...
's a no dumping zone and the dishwasher was rancid but the resort and mountain were really nice especially for a first time snowboarder. Can't wait to go back next year

We had a fantastic stay at Pine Mountain Ski and Golf Resort! The cabin accommodations were absolutely perfect, cozy, clean, and truly felt like a little home away from home. It was such a refreshing change from the typical hotel experience.

special shoutout to Leslie, our host, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Her friendly attitude and attentiveness truly made our stay memorable. It's rare to come across someone who radiates that much warmth and hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!

OVER-ALL GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! Everything is just PERFECT for a quick family trip, or romantic get-away! We felt like the first ones to ever stay in the cabins, they were SO FRESH AND CLEAN! The pool area was AWESOME. It had an order window to th...
e on-site bar/restaurant, a sauna, large hot tub, and great storage wall for your extra stuff! The employees were all so friendly and helpful, as well!

I must say that this resort is overpriced and has seen better days. Bathrooms are super small and do not have a fan, a lot of noise comes from the halls. They are very understaffed, both at the front desk and at the restaurant as well. We got $...
40 credit for food which was enough for a 2 person breakfast. But we waited almost 30 minutes for the food while almost no other guests were in there. This place has some history and might be convenient for skiers in the winter but I would choose at a different hotel just for a one night stay.

Our expectations might have been a little high for our post Christmas ski trip. I'll start by saying the cabins were wonderful, beautiful view, easy access to the ski hill, modern and comfy. We enjoyed our time on the hill and the ski lesson tr...
ainers were great.
Where this place fell short and the reason for three stars is because of the lodge restaurant and how the operation was run. Our trip started with not being able to check into our cabin because the house keeping staff didn't make it to work. There was bad weather earlier that day (to be fair). Thankfully, they knocked some money off the price for the cabin for the weekend. The restaurant and bar staff were disappointing, perhaps because they were all kids. The waitresses were rude and the bartenders weren't attentive. They probably just need to be trained by a few people with experience. The pricing for the same drink was inconsistent throughout the weekend. The prices for drinks were high for what they were. Their beer taps also weren't working. The food was, at best, okay.
The resort management did their best to make things right and we appreciate that. We would go back again with our expectations a little lower. We would stick to the cabin and ski hills, pack our own food and drinks and maybe venture to Iron Mountain for a meal vs eating at the lodge restaurant.

This was our second time here for a day of snowboarding. The outside experience was good, the inside needs attention. We arrived at 9am when they open. Made our way to the lodge/Cafe, it was not clean. There was food and garbage on the floors a...
nd all the tables. The women's bathroom was out of toilet paper and soap. If the owners of the place cared about business, why would they not make sure to have a cleaning staff either after they close or before they open.

I was not impressed. Staff was nice, there was a bar to eat at, a pool, but we didn’t go to either. The room was okay, but the beds are rock hard and tiny. They were also very tall and hard to get in and out of. Our children were with and our t...
oddler fell off twice onto the hard floor. Don’t recommend having kids with. The bathroom was more updated than the actual room but the tub floor was gross. The whole room needed a lot of upgrading. Didn’t sleep much at all. Wouldn’t come back.

I want to start this off by saying I only came for a nice room. I didn’t do any skiing while here. That being said, these are the dirtiest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The fridge smelled like spoiled milk, there’s three heaters in our room and no...
ne of them work (but boy did they make a lot of noise all night), cob webs and spiders in every corner of the room, and random stains on the walls/curtains/outlets.
The staff was very friendly and that’s the only good thing I can say about the place.
The restaurant food was good. A bit spendy for what you get and the wait times were crazy long and they didn’t give me any to go sauce or anything so my burger and fries were dry.
Overall very disappointed with this experience. If you’re not skiing/golfing I would recommend staying at any of the other hotels in the area considering they’re half the price.

This property falsely markets itself as a “4-star resort,” when in reality it is a poorly maintained, unsafe, and severely neglected hotel. It is obvious the owners have spent the absolute bare minimum on cosmetic updates while ignoring serious...
structural and safety issues. Peeling wallpaper, cracked pool tiles, and visibly deteriorating fixtures are everywhere.
The situation escalated from disappointing to dangerous when my glass shower door shattered as I exited the shower, leaving me covered in blood and glass shards. My child witnessed the incident and was traumatized. This was not a minor inconvenience—it was a serious safety failure that could have resulted in severe injury.
An incident report was filed and photos were taken by the night manager. Despite the severity of this event, management never contacted me to check on my condition, address the incident, or take responsibility. This level of negligence suggests either that incidents like this are common or that guest safety is simply not a concern as long as rooms continue to be booked.
This property is unsafe and grossly misrepresented. Until meaningful repairs and responsible management practices are in place, I strongly advise potential guests to stay elsewhere.

Just as a warning to anyone who wants to have an event here - don't. We started planning our wedding at Pine Mountain over a year out and once they had our deposit things really took a turn. We had everything from them trying to change pricing ...
to promised services cancelled the week before the wedding to having to get everything in writing to confirm what was said. Almost every conversation was rehashing of things that had already been discussed/decided. Multiple times we were not able to reach anyone for weeks at a time. The entire process was incredibly frustrating and required us to be in 'business mode' during a time that should have otherwise been fun and joyful. Save yourself a lot of stress and have your event elsewhere.
