I originally hired them due to their beautiful landscapes, soft lighting, and romantic details but I have been so impressed with the versatility of their work. Not only have they provided fantastic photos but they actually have been essential to the wedding planning process. They provided suggestions for location of our engagement photos, location and attire of boudoir shoot, and even location of our elopement ceremony. They have consistently been very easy to communicate with via email, telephone, and text. They have been very flexible with planning during COVID times with rescheduling our wedding as well as planning an elopement in less than a month. They were extremely professional throughout the entire process (letting us interview them via video chat before we hired them was huge) and they worked hand-in-hand with our wedding coordinator, almost as an additional coordinator, to ensure everything went smoothly. Besides that, their work speaks for itself. Simply looking at the work they've done in the past says it all, and we could absolutely not be happier with how our photos came out. The end result left us with the perfect capture of a day that was a total blur! Since the first time we saw Juan and Talia’s portfolio and blog, we knew they were the ones we want to work with. When we met Juan in person, we knew right away he was more than a great photographer. He was so friendly, calm, professional and creative the whole time. He made sure to follow up with us all the details as the ceremony day approaches. I am a little selective when it comes to photography and many times I find myself criticizing the composition, the angle, or the lighting of my (or other’s) photos. However, I immediately find Juan’s style very authentic and his photos not like standard wedding photos which I always feard ending up with. bat . . . Would the pictures accurately reflect the magic of the day and would my tendency to appear a bit stiff and unnatural in pictures be allayed by the right photographer? My fiancé and I were immediately attracted to Juan's photos on the Knot and his relaxed and organic style. We had several phone conversations with Juan and pretty much knew right away that he was the one for us. Having not had the benefit of meeting Juan in person, he made us both feel immediately at ease on our wedding day. We are thrilled with the photos. The posed photos reflect the gentle direction that Juan provided and the other photos are organic and genuine. I actually didn't think that any photographer could make that happen. Hire Juan! What greater gift can you be given than being able to look back at your photos and relive one of the most important days of your life?

shoot. Juan was planted at a beach and my fiance "signaled" him when we arrived. He pretended to be shooting his wife when really he was shooting us in the background the entire time! He caught our whole proposal on camera: the box held behind my back, David down on one knee, my surprised face, our hug afterwards -- everything! It's so special to have that moment captured forever. Then afterwards we did a spontaneous (well, it was spontaneous for me!) shoot on the beach. Juan is very easy to work with. He gives some direction and has a great creative eye. Then we went to a second location and he captured the most beautiful sunset with the rolling hills behind us. His editing is phenomenal and he gave us the photos in a quick turnaround, with easy to download images and easy to order, too. He has given us such a great gift. He is also very personable, kind, and just easy to be with, which is important for engagement or wedding photography. He's amazing! Hire him!

The Mural Room can likely be a bit challenging to shoot but Juan captured the beautiful murals with the most ethereal light. And the photos of us and our family looked absolutely gorgeous. There is one particular shot, that we have framed, that is spectacular--it captures my husband and me during our vows with family looking on and the great murals behind. It has a truly cinematic quality as though from a film still. Juan has a wonderful, kind and professional way about him so he's very easy to work with. Artistically, he provides great direction and suggestions. I felt as though I was working with a great film director during the posed shots--that was really unexpected fun. He also struck a perfect balance between posed and candid shots on both occasions. I can recommend Juan Pinnel, wholeheartedly, for any occasion that calls for special photographs.

wedding! Juan was extremely easy to work with, from beginning to finish. He not only gave us an amazing price, but delivered beautiful photographs despite very challenging conditions. Not only do my husband and I have extremely disparate skin tones, but we got married outside, at night, with only ambient lighting. We said our vows in the dark! But Juan even managed to get wonderful photos of those moments. Before the day I had asked him to really focus on the emotions and atmosphere, with a preference for candid, natural photos. He did an amazing job capturing the energy, feelings, and atmosphere for the whole event. He has a great eye for color and composition, and for the few posed photos we took, he tactfully and effortlessly guided us into better lighting and positions. There is always a lot going on at a wedding, but Juan was tuned in and put the utmost energy into tracking down and capturing as many meaningful moments as possible. We all felt very comfortable with him, and he easily meshed with the whole vibe. Everyone is impressed with the results, and it was a great experience.

Our engagement photos and bridal shoot were gorgeous and he took the time needed to create some amazing shots. There are so many good ones - it's been hard to choose my favorites! I also hired him for our wedding in July, 2015. Our wedding happened to be on a day that an enormous thunderstorm came through Southern CA. Our venue was outdoors and we had to move the reception last minute to a hotel nearby. Juan stuck through it all and got some BEAUTIFUL and very candid photos of us and our guests. We will be able to look back on these photos and know exactly how we were feeling in those moments. Juan is so good at capturing the true heart and soul of his subjects.
