Sarah-Jane, Ciara, and the entire Planners On Retainer team were beyond fabulous! They were extremely professional and dedicated throughout the planning process. Where to begin - I truly resisted having a wedding planner, believing I could do it all myself. I am very Type A and am one of those people who would rather do things themselves, so that I only have myself to blame if things go wrong. We were having a relatively short engagement and needed to plan an ~180-person wedding in 6 months and on a limited budget (for this market). After about 6 weeks of planning on my own, the stress started to consume me. Between work and the wedding, I was totally spent. My now husband decided that the best wedding present he could give me was to hire a wedding planner. As I said, I truly thought I could do it myself. We went to a bridal show and met a bunch of planners, but I didn’t connect with anyone. I started searching online and I found Planners on Retainer (PoR). I reached out to Sarah-Jane (S-J) and she set a meeting. From the first call, she got me. I knew that she would be patient with me and help me to craft the vision that she would execute. And execute she did! S-J was amazing. She has a very busy calendar between her local and destination weddings, yet always had time for my calls and late night emails. She joined me for meetings with vendors and helped to negotiate when necessary. On very short notice, she drove out to Chantilly to meet us at the florist and truly honed and elevated our designs. She has an amazing eye for detail and great taste. If you want an elegant wedding, you can trust S-J and PoR to get you there. On a more granular level, planning my wedding with PoR was very easy. She knows everyone in the business and proposed a wonderful selection of vendors for us to choose from - with discounts! The PoR planning portal was a Godsend - from the design portal to the guest tracker and seating chart maker. All were far more user-friendly and detailed than anything I saw on Minted, the Knot, etc. We created our website on Minted with a custom web address, but ended up using the PoR site for all of our guest tracking as it was much easier to download/print for dissemination to the vendors. Finally, on our actual wedding day, I met the rest of the PoR team and they were just as amazing as S-J. Super helpful and not intrusive. Needless to say, we were very happy that we chose PoR for our wedding. S-J has become such a good friend to us - we both miss talking to her post-wedding.

My firm celebrated its 30th Anniversary this December, and without fail, Sarah-Jane and her team managed to plan an exquisite celebratory evening. Every second we had Sarah-Jane as our partial wedding planner, we felt things were in control and we were on the right track! From helping us pick our fantastic vendors to coordinating all wedding day activities with said vendors to constant check-ins to make sure we weren’t forgetting anything, she truly made our wedding come together in the best way possible. Sarah-Jane was the absolute BEST. We opted for month-of planning, and she truly went above and beyond. POR and Sarah-Jane wrangled unruly vendors, made us feel totally calm throughout the process, and created an absolutely beautiful day. The event ran totally smoothly, and even where there were minor hiccups, Sarah-Jane fixed it before I could even ask for help. We would recommend POR a thousand times!!

Sarah-Jane and Ciera were responsive and helpful in the month leading up and especially on the day-of. Sarah-Jane was great about asking what was open-ended and needed resolution (to address/discuss). She reached out to our vendors in advance so they all knew where to be and at what time. She basically took the reins and I didn't need to be involved unless she needed my input on something. It was very helpful because my anxious brain has trouble turning off! I knew I could trust her and the day of went by so smoothly.

Sarah-Jane was amazing and she and her team were great to work with. I started a new job around the time we got engaged and I realized very quickly that we needed help planning our wedding if we wanted it to happen anytime soon. As soon as we started working with SJ it was like a weight lifted off of my shoulders. She and her team were dedicated to finding the right vendors for us, and everyone we worked with was amazing. My utmost gratitude goes to the Planners on Retainer team in planning and executing our wedding day! We were planning a wedding in Alexandria, VA while my (now) husband and I lived in the northeast, and despite the distance, POR made themselves available to support us from beginning to end. During the planning process, Sarah-Jane, Felicia, and Ciera were communicative, organized, and supportive. They recommended excellent vendors while also helping us to incorporate vendors that we desired. Leading up to the wedding date, Ciera was an impeccable leader who was responsive, responsible, and caring as she organized the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and entire wedding day, with the additional support from Winnie too! With everything lined up and in place, the unpredictability of the weather made me feel nervous, but wow – Ciera and Winnie were flexible, made thoughtful decisions, and immediately took care of things that we didn’t have to think or stress about. We had planned for a mostly outdoor wedding, and with the magic of Ciera and Winnie, we were blessed to have a wedding that accommodated guests to move between indoors and outdoors seamlessly (as if that were the plan all along)! As another example, during the ceremony, we realized too late that we forgot to bring the cutting cake from home, and I was totally ok without one. When we entered the reception for the grand entrance, there I saw a cake, and later learned that Winnie ran out to the store to pick up a cake for us. It was moments like this like many others from the wedding weekend that exemplified how trusting we were with the POR team to seamlessly execute an incredible day and experience for us and our guests. In moments of feeling overwhelmed, Ciera and Winnie stepped out and helped me to feel calm and find joy in the day, which I was so grateful for. My family, bridal party, and guests were thrilled with the hard work and commitment of POR and they couldn’t stop raving about them too. Thank you for everything, POR. We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to work with you!

Sarah-Jane was phenomenal! Our Mexico destination wedding surpassed our expectations. She located a beautiful venue, found vendors, handled all correspondence and negotiating with the resort wedding coordinator, and booked flights and hotel for 100 guest! I am a planner by nature. However, as the mother of the bride it is imperative that you have a good wedding planner because it is impossible for you to play two roles on your child's wedding day. Additionally, if you do not plan weddings as a profession, there is no way for you to know all of the specifics and nuances to planning a wonderful wedding. That is where Sarah Jane came in. She was the ultimate professional. From the very beginning she asked all of the pertinent questions and more. Many things I had not even considered prior to her mentioning. The planning process with Sarah Jane was great. She is super responsive, and her attitude was always pleasant and helpful. She listened fully to all of my thoughts and weighed in with her expertise. She provided very thoughtful insight to all aspects of the wedding. Additionally, she gave great vendor recommendations. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist so it was a relief to not have to worry about the quality of their work. On the actual wedding day, she functioned like a well-oiled machine who made sure that everything was handled and that I, as mother of the bride, did not have to concern myself with the details and could fully enjoy my daughter's day.

Initially we planned to have our wedding in the D.C. area however, once our guest list exceed our intended number, SJ recommend having a destination wedding. It was the PREFECT alternative. We were able to execute our vision within budget without excluding any of our loved ones. And instead of celebrating for 5-7hours, we were able to celebrate for 4 days. My heart has been so full since the wedding, it was truly an unforgettable, stress-free weekend and I would be remiss if I did not say SJ played a key part in that. I got to work with Planners on Retainer for 9 months and the process was wonderful. I had met with other planners and I didn't feel like they got me the way Sarah-Jane and Felicia did. Although there were some hiccups throughout the planning, she was ready for anything that happened and always has something up here sleeve to combat it. I couldn’t be more happy with my wedding and recommend her and her team to anyone needing a planner.

Sarah-Jane was absolutely amazing! She made timelines, communicated with vendors and was there for me when I had any questions or concerns. She and her assistant Nathan went above and beyond on my big day! They kept things running smoothly and on time and paid attention to every detail!
