The First Look

Wyoming, along with Montana, is Big Sky Country, where residents are used to plenty of room along with their scenic views. For couples who live in southern Wyoming's Upper North Platte River Valley, which includes the towns of Saratoga, Encampment and Riverside, the Platte Valley Community Center will be a welcome option with room to spare. It can accommodate wedding ceremonies and receptions for as many as 500, as well as smaller gatherings.

The Saratoga center had its first life in 1928 as an elementary school. It was renovated and reopened in 2006 as a venue for performing arts, sports, banquets and civic meetings as well as private events.

West Lobby. This room is lit by floor-to-ceiling windows by day and chandeliers by night. It's ideal for small gatherings and wedding photography.

Main Lobby. This is a romantic setting for photos. It can also be used for smaller ceremonies by the fireside.

Fine Arts Theater. The main stage is available for events. It can be used for the ceremony.

Great Hall. The Great Hall is ideal for a catered dinner or buffet-style banquet. Guests will have room for dancing afterward.

What You Should Know

Setup for events at the Platte Valley Community Center can begin at 7 a.m. and all events must end by 2:30 a.m. Smoking is confined to certain areas.

Check with the community center staff for catering options. If you would like to serve alcohol at your event, it's BYOB. Amplified music is fine both indoors and outdoors. Tables and chairs are provided and a kitchen is available, as are dressing areas for the couple. Pricing varies based on the number of guests and parts of the center that you choose. Check with the center for updates.

Extra Perks

While the three nearest towns to the Platte Valley Community Center have a full range of shopping and spa choices, the area's biggest draw is its outdoor recreation and scenic mountains. Guests who want to hang around after the wedding can pursue outdoor activities like hiking at Snowy Range and the Sierra Madre Mountains, camping and trout fishing and skiing and snowmobiling during winter.

Whatever the season, you might recommend that your guests unwind at Saratoga's free mineral hot springs, which is maintained by the town and is open 24 hours a day, every day. Check with the city's Chamber of Commerce for links to how to find parks and recreation, as well as lodging, in the area.

The Platte Valley Community Center was a perfect venue for our wedding. Being my hometown I was having a bigger wedding and the theater and ballroom offered the space we needed. It was so refreshing to have such great help from the PVCC and everything I needed was all in one... Read More building.
