Pleasant Home was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding of 75 - ceremony and seated dinner reception followed by dancing - the caterers expertly and quickly flipped the rooms ...
to accommodate the whole event. The home is GORGEOUS, with warm lighting, lots of ornate carved wood, and stained glass accents - and beautiful Christmas decor if you are looking for a Christmastime wedding venue. The staff was wonderful to work with and responsive in their communications. The rooms on the second floor are beautiful for the bride and groom suites. We don't have our pictures yet from our photographer but we know they will be extra beautiful because of this historic venue. We also loved that it is an easy walk (1 block) to the quaint Carlton Hotel, which we used for our room block (and "after party" for those who weren't ready to quit when our reception ended!). A beautiful, picturesque part of Oak Park, IL - convenient to downtown Chicago and most suburbs. Highly recommend!
Great place for a small ceremony. Beautiful for pictures. Had nothing but compliments from our guests. Great event coordinator as well who went above and beyond to make the day gre...

More beautiful than I could have imagined - it's the only way I can describe our recent wedding at Pleasant Home. From our initial meeting w/the helpful staff, thru the ongoing pl...
anning and then the big day - things could not have been easier or better. We had fifty guests, with the ceremony on the front porch and the cocktail reception in the house - it was even more beautiful than my husband and I had hoped. We would recommend Pleasant Home to anyone!
I generally do not take time to write reviews but the venue and experience at The Pleasant Home was so incredible I would be remiss not to encourage others to look at this venue fo...
r their wedding. We had a small intimate ceremony with only 30 guests. We were able to have it in the great hall which is the beautiful foyer of the home. We actually got married in front of the fireplace and my husband and I both proceeded down the beautiful staircase through our guests for the ceremony. It was truly beautiful. The staff at The Pleasant Home were second to none...there attention to detail and ease of working with was incredible. If you want an experience unlike the traditional venues this is the place!
First class all the way.
We had our wedding ceremony at Pleasant Home. In short, it was fantastic. The Living Room setting was exactly as we had imagined it. Absolutely lovely. All of our friends and fami...
ly loved Pleasant Home and thought it was the perfect place for such an intimate ceremony.
My partner and I were married at Pleasant Home on October 3. It was the perfect venue for our small wedding ceremony and reception. Due to a change in the weather, we moved the cer...
emony from outside to the living room which actually worked better and made the ceremony feel more intimate and warm.
The backdrop of the house, its unique architecture, wood paneling and gorgeous lighting worked so well with our tan and brown linens and natural floral arrangements. The addition of dozens of candles on tables and the mantles, really made the space feel magical. The cozy, warm feeling made all of guests feel at home at made us feel like we were entertaining in our home instead of a wedding venue. If only, we could live there!
Sarah and all the Pleasant Home staff were so great to work with throughout the process. We planned the wedding in two months and Sarah made sure we were on track with everything. She gave excellent recommendations for vendors to use and was in constant contact with us to answer all of our questions. When we made the change to move inside, she coordinated everything with our caterer and made it happen seamlessly. I didn't have to worry about a thing. It was great to have that type of trust with a vendor.
I highly recommend Pleasant Home for any small wedding. The space is so warm and inviting and you'll feel at home in it. It truly is an Oak Park gem.
As the bride and planner of my wedding, it was extremely easy working with Sarah, the Event Coordinator. She answered all of our questions immediately, was extremely professional a...
nd so very sweet. The Pleasant Home was absolutely gorgeous. It was everything my husband and I dreamed of. We were married outside in front of the house in front of the gorgeous tree. It was a dream.
We took the most beautiful wedding photos around the grounds of the house and inside. It was extremely affordable but totally stunning and gorgeous.
It's conveniently close to the green line which made transportation to our west loop reception for our guests (and the bridal party!) very easy.
The staff was fabulous. They helped us set up our lanterns and our trellis the day of the ceremony. Sarah went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed for our big day. She and her staff member even stood next to me while I was freaking out before walking down the aisle and calmed my nerves.
I highly recommend this venue!
My wife and I were married here on 8/15/15 and it was perfect! We had our ceremony on the porch with 80 guests comfortably seated on both sides of the staircase. The bridal party...
and bride processed along the stone pathway leading from the side of the house. Our dj was accommodated by the staff and able to set up in the back corner. The entire bridal party was able to sequester themselves separately and in style within the house as the guests arrived. The setting was perfect for pictures before, during and after. Sarah and the entire staff bent over backwards to make sure everything was set up and ran smoothly. I really can't express how grateful my wife and I are to Pleasant Home for going above and beyond for us. I would recommend Pleasant Home to anyone looking to have a wedding ceremony in the Chicago-land area.
My husband and I live two blocks away from the Pleasant Home, which is how we knew about it... immediately when we got engaged, we knew this was the place we wanted to have our cer...
emony and reception, so without looking at any other places we booked it. Our day was nothing short of magical. The venue was absolutely romantic and I wouldn't change a thing. It requires some additional work vs. the traditional banquet hall because you need to take care of rentals, food, liquor license, etc. All the things a hall would take care of. Far and away, it was a perfect venue.
