We had Karen and her team cater our Nestldown wedding in August 2026. They did an excellent job! From the start they accommodated not one but two complimentary tastings to iron out...
our menu and were flexible to menu changes up to two weeks before the event. Karen had a lot of excellent advice for how to best do the menu and catering logistics for the day. They worked seamlessly with the Danny Thomas rental team as well as Bacchus for beverage supplies. Her team delivered above and beyond on the day. The food and drinks were all amazing. Service was expedient and well executed all throughout the night. The desserts were absolutely exceptional. So many guests raved about how amazing the peanut butter chocolate truffles, chocolate chip cookies (seriously the best we’ve ever eaten), cannolis, and chocolate brownie parfaits were. I would 100% recommend Poetry in Motion as a wedding caterer!

ing quality and had seen they had good reviews. While our wedding was amazing and we truly loved all of our other vendors who worked so hard to make our day the best day ever, Poetry in Motion unfortunately was a real disappointment for us. There were definitely some reservations about using them from the beginning because the communication was unclear and we were given various prices that changed as the process went on during our planning. The planning process felt unorganized and confusing which was unsettling for us. We worked with a fabulous wedding planner and thankfully she helped us navigate all of these hiccups but in hindsight we should have listened to our guts, spent the extra money and went with a different caterer. On our wedding day PIM served our guests three appetizers that were not on our contracted menu. We were clear from the beginning that our food was important to us and we thoughtfully deisgned a menu that reflected that. To have our caterer serve random food that we did not want nor ask for and serve less of the food that we did want and pay for felt like a major violation of our trust. In addition to this, we had our cake bakery make gluten free cupcakes for our guests so they could also enjoy our wedding cake (these were not inexpensive) and Poetry in Motion made the unilateral decision not to serve them to our guests. In our pre-wedding meetings it was discussed many times that we were going to be bringing in cupcakes from that vendor in addition to our cake. When my wedding planner had noticed they weren't out on the dessert table and alerted them to this oversight they simply decided our guests didn't really need them because we were having fun dancing and refused to put them out. The food was honestly underwhelming, I had guests tell us how much they enjoyed so many other aspects of our wedding but food was definitely not what people commented on. There were some positive parts of our experience including allowing us to switch some of the cheeses on our charcuterie board to personal favorites without an up charge and I thought the asparagus and macaroni and cheese were very good. When we brought our grievences to Poetry in Motion after our wedding we were told we should be grateful they threw in some extra appetizers for our guests (??) and attempted to shirk off the responsibility of the cupcakes. Not even an apology or any accountability for their actions. They clearly didn't really care about our experience and how it affected our wedding day as thy got paid either way. All this to say that majority of your wedding budget typically goes to your caterer so I think it's important that you hire one who not only creates a great culinary experience but also one with integrity and who you can trust with one of the most memorable meals of your life and for us that wouldn't be Poetry in Motion.

asting where Karen kindly invited us to her home which was perfectly curated by her to reflect our favorite foods, we were sold. Karen answered all my questions and even helped me with some other aspects of the wedding planning process with decor! Everyone loved the food, especially the giant charcuterie board! My husband and I were extremely grateful because shortly after we made our entrance, the Poetry team brought us each a plate of food! I thought this was incredibly thoughtful because neither of us realized how hungry we were until they brought us a plate! It just emphasizes how thoughtful they are and they really go above and beyond to create a pleasant experience all around! Thank you again to Karen and the Poetry In Motion team for helping make our big day so incredibly perfect!
Great service and food thank you for helping make our wedding great
Yall listen! If I told you the chaotic mess that happened with my original cater who had to pair with a required vendor which was Karen aka poetry in motion, You would be stressed ...
for me! It was a hot mess 30 days before my big day and leading up to 1 week before my big day!! BUT poetry in SAVED my WEDDING and made it so that I had zero stress with them and that my food came out just as we had planned and the level of communication and understanding was seriously as if I was working with my mom. Thats how much Karen and her team made me feel loved, supported and understood! The food was amazing, we had samon, chicken, vegetables, caesar salad and bread with butter. My kids literally devoured the food so fast! and the samon tasted so fresh and not fishy! It was beautiful and they brought the food to us for our sweetheart table and the whole team checked on us from start to finish! So THANKS to Karen, my wedding ended up being stress free and beautiful! and YUMMY!! I got married at Nestledown and they have required caters you have to use and Karen was the most reasonable and most willing to work with you and your budget. Yes the budget was high but also nestledown requires certain things to be done and paid for via caters.
If you really want the food at your wedding to feel personal and unique (not to mention delicious of course!), definitely go with Catering in Motion. While researching various wedd...
ing caterers, we noticed that most catering companies will have pre-set menus that you can choose a certain number of items from. They give you their lists of appetizers, salads, entrees etc. and you select the ones that sound the best to you. But PIM takes a different approach.
When we first reached out to Karen she did send us sample menus from previous weddings but she also asked us to send her a list of foods that we both really enjoy eating. I have the palate of a 5 year old so I didn’t think she could do much with my list of french fries and cheeseburgers but I was pleasantly surprised. She sent us back a sample menu of foods she thought we would enjoy based on our list. Have you ever had cheeseburger meatball bites and sweet potato waffle fries with fresh guacamole as an appetizer? Because I have now, and they were SO good! And her pigs in a blanket took me back to childhood just like that scene in Ratatouille! Our food ended up being fun and creative and things that my husband and I actually wanted to eat on the day of our wedding!
The process was easy and they were also able to manage our party rentals through Danny Thomas so it was one more thing off our plate. Karen answered all of our questions, responded to all of my emails and happily made changes to our final menu to better fit our tastes and accommodate different dietary needs. They provided us with our bartenders too and even helped us come up with our signature cocktails for the day.
They set up everything beautiful and really took care of us and our guests. The food was delicious and our guests really enjoyed it. They even offered to pack us up some food to take back to the hotel at the end of the night. I would love the chance to work with them again in the future.

The buffet-style menu Karen crafted for our special day was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, using fresh, high-quality ingredients that showcased her remarkable talent and passion for food. Our guests are still raving about the flavors and presentation!
Not only was the food outstanding, but Karen's attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our specific requests made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. She took the time to understand our vision and brought it to life in a way that exceeded all our expectations.
If you're looking for a caterer who combines artistry, flavor, and impeccable service, look no further than Poetry in Motion. Karen truly made our wedding day unforgettable, and we are incredibly grateful for her exceptional contribution to our celebration.

be interested in, Karen invited us into her home and made everything for us in real time. The food, which was a vegetarian menu of appetizers, salads, and pastas predominately, was phenomenal, and her hospitality made us feel very well taken care of. This feeling was exactly the same the day of the wedding, where she and her team worked everything to perfection. The presentation of the food was first class, her team was incredibly attentive and kind, and the food was just as delicious as the first time we had it. The guests certainly agreed, as several explicitly mentioned how tasty the menu was to us after the wedding. For desert, a friend had made cupcakes, and it was very easy to have Poetry in Motion receive the cupcakes the day of and set them out in a gorgeous display. No detail was missed or too small, whether in the lead up to the wedding or the day of, and for that my partner and I are so grateful! Thank you Karen for all of your help to make our wedding the most special day of our lives!

marked on how delicious the food was and how it was the BEST wedding food they had ever had. We may be biased, but we whole heartedly agree with that sentiment! You will not find a more fun or lovely team of caterers - their food is a love language in itself!

I think that’s what my coordinator is for.

prepare a menu that reflected us as a couple. She did not disappoint! I was in contact with Karen and Andrea throughout the planning process. On our wedding day, they also made sure to hunt us down to make sure we sat down to eat before our food got cold!! Everyone always tells you the day goes by so fast as the bride and groom.. and it really does!! I probably wouldn’t have had a chance if I was not reminded. They are extremely friendly and I loved working with them. I highly recommend Poetry in Motion to cater your event! Thank you all soooo much!!!
I am not even sure how to write a review that will do Poetry in Motion: Karen, Andrea and their whole team and the hard work and amazing catering, justice.

wn and for us to be able to sit back, relax and not side eye whether or not a vendor was doing things the right way or respecting the rules and our home, we knew that Poetry was the only caterer that would allow us to do that; we were right!!
From the first meeting, talking about the extensive plans, set up, guest count and expectations... Karen and Andrea took them and succeeded in strides. They never once made me question my decision or feel worried about anything having to do with set-up or the way the day would run!
They spent months planning and working with Danny Thomas rental company to get our perfect dining set up, staffed a skilled and excited team and were constantly checking and double checking to make sure everything was right - all while making us feel like family!
When the day came, they had their team perfectly carry out our vision for the day. From the table set up and tabletop display, seating cards, passed and stationed appetizers, passed beverages post ceremony, dinner, and desserts - they were AMAZING!!! When I look back, there was't a single thing I could change - except that as a couple, you don't usually eat that much (since you're always on the go) so take advantage of your tastings!! However, Andrea, who is the front of house made sure we had food and ate first!! She got our dinner from the buffet for us so we could then go socialize!!!
Dinner: The food was spectacular. There were no complaints, only compliments and awe. We had a few friend who had severe food allergies and Karen came up with the perfect (probably the best Ravioli that we have ever had) dish to suit their needs: Mushroom stuffed Gluten and Dairy free Ravioli in a Truffle sauce. It was to die for - my husband and I love meat but we wanted that more!!!!
They did our whole dessert bar, which despite the don't eat before cake cutting, was devoured because people thought it was so delicious.
It was the absolute best day of our lives and for my parents. The fact that we were able to enjoy and not have to worry about a thing made the day that much more relaxed and special!!!
All Nestldown couples know my recommendation but for others looking for a caterer, no need to look any further! I would give them 30 out of 5 stars if I could (as cheesy as that sounds!!)
Forever grateful!!!

Poetry in Motion catered our wedding at Nestldown and they were OUTSTANDING! Karen and her team did an incredible job and we couldn't be happier. Her catering service includes food...
, furniture rentals, beverages, and all food services such as bartending, plating, and setting up/breakdowning of equipment. Throughout the entire planning process, she was very thoughtful of our needs and mindful of our budget. The demographics of our wedding guests were mostly Asians and she designed a menu specifically for them - honey glazed soy sea bass and short ribs with a dark sesame over accompaniments. For appetizers, there were bacon wrapped scallops, Thai basil chicken, egg rolls with a cheese and cracker station!
When we went to her tasting, she gifted us with a wine bottle with our names and wedding day on the gift bag. It was an unexpected surprise and very sweet of Karen to go the extra mile! The tasting was very relaxed and she answered all of our questions about her catering process and menu. Fast forward, a couple of months, we went with her to select our dinner settings such as glassware, linen, dinner plates, and silverware. During that process, we talked about the details of how things will be set up and the display of dinner settings. We didn't realize how many things we needed to consider but with Karen's guidance and expertise, it was a simple and painless process.
On the day of our wedding, Karen and her team beautifully executed our vision! My husband had the opportunity to witness how her team put together our reception floor layout. It was pretty incredible to see months and months of planning come alive from the cocktail hour layout to the reception. We were very impressed with her team professionalism and diligence with serving our guests.
We can't recommend Karen and her team enough - professional, friendly, easy going, and very accommodating! THANK YOU, Karen!!! We love you and Poetry In Motion!
Karen, Andrea, and their fantastic team were amazing. My husband and I could not have been happier with our whole experience and our actual wedding day. Karen for one is an extreme...
ly good chef. She led us through a very casual but delectable tasting about 6 months before our wedding where we finalized our menu. Since my husband and I are total foodies we wanted to incorporate a few of our favorites, but also let Karen show off her skills. We gave her a list of our favorite foods, and links to a few of our most frequent restaurants and she crafted a menu from there. We ended up with:
Appetizers: Crab stuffed Mushrooms, asparagus puffs, and a charcuterie and cheese station.
Main (we did buffet style but know Karen easily does any menu style): BBQ Chicken Tikka (thighs, and so moist and juicy!!), Tri-tip with a mushroom sauce, rice pilaf, haricot verts, and a spring salad.
Dessert Bar: chocolate chip cookies, brownies, long stemmed strawberries, & fruit hand pies. (I think this was all...I didn't get a chance to eat most of them)
Everything was devoured! We also thought all the food was even better on our wedding day than when we did our tasting. It was easily the best sit down meal we've had over the years at weddings. They also made the entire process a breeze. Karen knew what was fresh, and was ready to substitute if she didn't like what was at market, and Andrea was on point with making sure all our table and flatware was beautiful. They both made us feel relaxed the entire week before our wedding, even offering to handle last minute items that popped up. Andrea was also a constant presence throughout the wedding day checking in with both me and my husband to ensure we were happy.
We knew we were in good hands from the start, but felt like everything exceeded our expectations. It was a fabulous wedding day at Nestldown.
We had an all vegan wedding and Karen was so incredible and easy to work with! So much fun an made out day special for us an all our guests

Our wedding day was perfect for many reasons, but I give full credit to Poetry in Motion for the happy scream I released when we walked in to dinner. To see our vision executed to such perfection was the icing on the cake on the best day of our lives. I am eternally grateful to their meticulous planning, beautiful vision and willingness to go above and beyond for their clients.

We are so glad that we chose to have Poetry in Motion cater our wedding.
A huge thank you to Karen Major and her entire team at Poetry in Motion for the amazing job they did at my son’s Nestldown wedding. As the mother of the groom and wedding planner, ...
Karen’s organization, professionalism and expertise shone brightly in everything she did. From the beginning, Karen listened to all the dreams the bride had in her head and made every one of them become a reality from the food, to the décor and table decorations. When our dessert plans of s’mores were cancelled by the venue just a few days before the wedding due to high fire dangers in the mountains, Karen notified me and had several options available to us to choose from. She even made two individual s’mores in the kitchen for the bride and groom to have for their s’more ceremony (since there was no cake). When the temperatures spiked the week of the wedding, Karen suggested changing the reception set-up to allow more shade for the guests and added umbrellas. Karen and Team are truly amazing! They worked hard and shouldered all the stress of the day so our family could enjoy every moment of our son’s wedding from beginning to end! Karen goes above and beyond what I would have expected from a caterer and I would highly recommend her and the entire team at Poetry in Motion if you want the best of the best!
We found Poetry in Motion through Nestldown's list of recommended vendors. My now husband is vegan and I (along with all my family) am vegetarian, but we also had a flock of meat-...
loving Irishmen coming over for the wedding. Our needs were very specific, but Karen created a mostly vegan, totally vegetarian menu of healthy comfort foods that pleased the palettes of the strict, veggie-loving Californians and those accustomed to more carnivorous diets.
She and her helpers were equally helpful on the day, even running back through to spruce up the centerpieces when I, on my way to walk down the aisle, noticed they had been a little smooshed in transport.
From the required vendor list I was given from my venue, I chose to have Poetry in Motion cater my wedding on 7/19/15. Best choice I could have made! It is very evident that Karen ...
is passionate about her work and service to her customers! Having much experience under her belt with events at my venue, she was very knowledgeable about my options were within my preferred budget. She went above and beyond for my wedding. She helped me with picking out linens and all place settings for my tables. She also provided helpful tips and options for food service and beverages. If there was any question or confusion about something, she was professional and cordial in clarifying.
It is apparent that her creative desire is to see the personalities of the bride and groom come alive in the food she provides. The food tasting was also an intimate and enjoyable experience! The appetizers were outstanding! And the food at dinner tasted close to perfection. Karen even made sure the bride and groom had their own special meal!
My only "complaint" is that some of the chicken served at the buffet was cold - according to some of my guests. My wedding was outdoors, and I had 170 guests. Other than that, her staff was very polite and hard-working. Overall, I had a great experience working with Poetry in Motion and would refer Karen's business to any bride!
Excellent service, Excellent food, and very willing to work within my budget!
