Poly Mendes Photography

When I was at the beginning phases of wedding planning I had received some great advise from someone and it was was to make a top three must have list for you and have your fiancé make a top three list for him and stick with it. One of my top three was to invest in a high end photographer so we would have our day documented in such a beautiful way that we could carry the memory with us and our special family, forever! I felt it was worth the investment! After doing much research I found our photographer, Poly Mendes! I was so excited when she agreed to work with us! I was planning from afar so we chatted with the lovely Poly via Skype as we were not able to meet in person before the wedding. We knew without a doubt that we were making the right choice and we didn’t have to worry, at all! I can honestly say it was one of my favorite parts of my whole wedding having Poly be our photographer! She made us all feel so comfortable and made friends with us all too! Poly has some big fans within my family: After the wedding my brother says when I get married I want her to be the photographer at my wedding and my grandma said if she’s ever in Duluth, MN have her call me and I would love to get together with her and take her around town! It was an experience we’ll never forget. She is sweet and captures the littlest things that made your day, your day! You’ll also have little moments that you’ll treasure besides the dreamy photos she captures; she happened to see several monarch butterflies floating along the shoreline at our lake location and pointed them out to us and told us the significance of them which is very meaningful to us to this day! I’m blown away by her talent and grace. She’s a gem and someone you will not be disappointed in, I promise!

Having a good wedding photographer was one of my top priorities when planning my wedding. I loved the photos on Poly's website and after speaking with her on the phone, my husband and I were both certain her style was a good fit for what we wanted. Poly was amazing to work with. She made planning easy and stress free and always responded quickly to emails. We definitely felt like our wedding photography was in good hands going in, and Poly totally exceeded our expectations. She was a god-sent on our wedding day. She was super organized, helped us stick to our timeline, and was helpful in a million other ways. She made sure she got every photo I requested and then took tons of other creative shots. She is a wonderful creative problem solver and was able to work around our tight timeline, strict photography rules at our venues, and stragglers from an earlier wedding. She was quicker than we expected getting photos to us which we are really grateful for because my new husband was able to see our beautiful photos before his deployment. And the photos are stunning! Poly is clearly meant to be a photographer. Her passion is evident in her work. You'd be hard pressed to find a photographer who will work harder for you. Poly went above and beyond for us and we could not have dreamed up more beautiful wedding photos. We would very highly recommend Poly!

I can’t say enough about working with Poly. It’s so valuable to go into your wedding day with complete trust in your photographer, not having to worry about the quality of the images or catching all of the important moments. Having that trust with Poly allowed me to be completely in the moment on our wedding day and to enjoy everything the way it naturally played out. Poly’s turnaround time is amazing, also. She had our blog post with select images ready just 4 days after our wedding, and when she heard that we would be away on our honeymoon before then, even emailed us a handful of images early so we could have a peek before we left the country! We were on the fence about doing engagement pictures but are so glad we did them with Poly. It helped us know what to expect on the wedding day and gave us a level of comfortability with her so that we were at ease. We’ll spend the rest of our lives as husband and wife, so those casual images of us during that special time of our lives are now so special to us. Maybe one of the best parts of working with Poly, though, is that I felt like an individual person with her the whole time. I never felt that I was just another bride or that she was just pushing another client through. She was engaged with us on a personal level for almost a year before our wedding and I truly felt that we, as unique people, mattered to her. In the end, that connection showed in our photos.

Poly is so amazing to work with and she is such a talented photographer! She has so much positive energy and she has a seriously killer eye for gorgeous photos! My husband and I are so lucky we found Poly to do our engagement and wedding photos - it's been weeks after our wedding and people can't stop talking about how awesome she was!

This past weekend I was a bridesmaid in a wedding for which Poly was the photographer. I cannot speak highly enough of her! She was the most positive, interactive, genuinely sincere photographer I have experienced for a wedding - she felt like part of the wedding party (while also getting our crazy group to focus when needed)! One of my favorite things is how she'd ask random questions to spark laughter and ease nerves. Her creativity and love of photography is evident - the preview photos I have seen are beyond breathtaking! I'll definitely use her in the future if I have a chance to.

Poly is the most amazing photographer I have ever used! ALL of our pictures were amazing turned out better than I could have ever dreamed of! Poly is SOOO nice and flexible, and she captured every element of our big day! I will never go to another photographer for anything! Poly is the BEST!

Poly is great with kids and was a true professional. She was also fun to be around and she had great energy. Her photos are lovely and very artistic. I will use her services again!

I don't even know where to start! I found Poly through a high school friend and started following her blog. I immediately fell in love with her work, because she is so amazing. She captures your feelings in her photos-, which I didn’t even know was possible. When we first went to meet Poly, it was wintertime and my fiancé had to drive his crappy car in the snow at rush hour and was crabby. Minutes after sitting down to talk to Poly and get to know each other, she had him smiling and laughing. I knew right then we were going to use her as our photographer. On our wedding day, even though we had smiled a million times she got him smiling true smiles even at the end of the night. She is so creative, so fun, so happy… it makes you so comfortable. We will be using Poly as our photographer forever! My friends and family loved her photography too, and have been asking for her info. If you want gorgeous photos and an amazing photographer, USE POLY!

Poly is so sweet and talented. She went above and beyond to learn all about our wedding details beforehand so that she was able to capture them all that day. She communicated with us regularly leading up to our wedding. Our engagement and wedding photos were better than I could have ever imagined and she was a real trooper capturing our wedding day in the snow and cold! She gave great direction to our friends and family and most of the time we didn't even realize she was taking our photos. A+++ She will be our photographer for life.
