he colors of my wedding flowers were NOT PASTEL, as the example pictures showed a bouquet of pastel flowers. Funny enough, the flowers in the picture actually had MORE color than my frickin flowers. They were absolutely and completely pastel, with no darker colors or jewel tones like I asked *SO* many times. The communication sucks. The website sucks. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch, but our wedding was yesterday and it’s still asking us to pick out flowers, service, and pay the remaining fee (which we did in APRIL). The flowers were wilted and dreary, and I thank God that every other part of my day was amazing, because this was just terrible. Honestly, we should get a refund. I could’ve gone to Kroger and gotten better flowers. What a disappointment.

It is our number one priority to understand your vision so we can bring it to life. In your proposal we confirmed your color palette as red, orange, yellow, blush, and terracotta; and your style as backyard barbecue. Your inspiration and notes included a zingy palette that was less bright and toned down with colors of blush and terracotta. This is the information we used to choose the florals and create a customized recipe for your wedding day.

Poppy’s platform is easy to use and fully customizable, the designers are readily available to answer any questions along the way. However, it is still nerve wracking because we are unable to see the final design before your wedding day, but rest assured, it will be beautiful! I submitted photos of my vision, along with flowers and colors I wanted to avoid and they nailed it. I was nervous because I was wanting a more unique color profile and flower choices, and they created my vision better than I could have imagined. The flowers were fresh and lasted throughout the day and were usable for our morning after brunch. They delivered and set up the flowers on time without an issue, and even dropped off my bouquet at a different location free of charge. In San Francisco, bare minimum wedding flowers were quoted at $12,000+. With Poppy, I ordered as many flower arrangements as I could possibly want, with set up and delivery fees coming out to $6,000. reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because the lead up communication was a bit confusing and a couple of weeks in advance our primary contact was out of town (which is fine, please take time off!) but the coverage for her was a bit unclear. I was assured they had all of the info and details, and ultimately everything ended up working out but felt a little stressful for me leading up to the day.
The one weird thing is that you are never really in direct communication with your florist, all of the information to the florist comes FROM your poppy contact. Again, everything was beautiful and on brief and also affordable compared to other quotes we received. So all to say, our experience was good albeit a bit stressful leading up just based on communication.
I would say if you're a person who is able to trust the process and trust your wedding planner, they are a great partner to work with for the price and execution.

th the contact information for your local florist (even though I asked for it.). I paid $350 for set up (bud vases on reception tables, arch décor) and due to a timing issue, I had to pay an additional $75 for my flowers to arrive earlier. Linens were slated to be set at 3:15pm, but I needed my flowers for first look photos at 1:30. The florist delivered my bouquet on time, but then was planning to just drop off the other flowers without waiting for the linens to be set, despite that I had paid $424 just for delivery alone. My coordinator had to stop her and show her the email communication with Poppy that I paid extra money for her to wait for the linens to be set. The flowers were nice, but the groom’s boutonniere was falling apart. The ribbon tied around my bouquets looked cheap and not like the photo I provided. Spending the extra money for a floral company that has better communication would be worth it.

This company is really a game-changer- and instead of competing with small, local businesses- they work WITH THEM! They work hard to understand your vision, maintain clear communication throughout the process, order the flowers in bulk, and connect with a local florist whom executes the design and set-up.
In the planning/decision phase, I love how transparent Poppy was with pricing and OPTIONS! There was always a lower, medium, and higher-price range option to choose from. When searching other florists, it was very hard to understand what you were getting for the price.
Not only was the process easy and simple- our flowers were fresh, GORGEOUS, and were the perfect complement to our big day.

We were able to move some of the stuff ourselves, but the arch (which was going to double as our photobooth backdrop) couldn't be moved.
We had a call with Poppy after the wedding and got our service charge refunded... but even with the refund we ended up spending $5,000 for a wedding that looked like there were no flowers.

ut I wanted what I got to be pretty. Ultimately we just had 3 bouquets, a bunch of boutonnieres, small centerpieces, and 2 large barrel arrangements. They were breathtaking. I mean extraordinarily spectacular!
First, logistics. Poppy sent a google slides doc that we worked in collaboratively. We chatted via email and once by video. My questions were answered & it was easy to pick & choose what I wanted. I only wish that in the beginning I had had a better understanding of all the possible options available to me. For example, as someone who doesn't know a lot about flowers, it would have been nice to see photos of different kinds of flowers.
Closer to the date we ran into a bit of a rough patch in terms of communication. I wasn't quite clear what I was going to get and because they were busy, I wasn't getting timely responses. We worked through that though.
Their process occurs in phases, and you get passed from one phase to another. It was a little confusing to know where I was in the process & what that meant, but with the exception of that week or two of a rough patch, everyone was very communicative.
Now, about the flowers. SO GORGEOUS! At some point a little late in the process the Poppy rep recommended incorporating pops of blue, which was amazing, and then, in the end, I added some specialty roses that were kind of cappuccino in color. (That's an example of something I had been aware of in the beginning.)
When Anna showed up with my bouquet, I was floored. It was so much bigger than I expected, and so full, and the flowers were so fresh! They were in full bloom and so lush! The greenery was also amazing. None of it was run of the mill greenery; it was all perfect and matched the subtle, sophisticated tones I was going for.
Of all our vendors, I feel like I got the most for my money with Poppy. I can't speak for every Poppy designer, but if they are anywhere near as talented as Anna, you'll be thrilled with your results. I wish I could post a photo of these flowers. They were so incredible!

As you can see from the photos, the bridal bouquet was the star of our microwedding. Every time we show someone a photo, the first thing they say is how amazing the bouquet is. the worst attitude, she’s lucky she dealt with my sister vs me. The colors I asked for were not represented. She left my tables empty, didn’t put the centerpieces up and my brides maids had to finish what she didn’t working in their dresses. On top of that she was a nasty nasty nasty person. We asked her for drapes (100% bought by us, 100% willing to pay for the extra work and instead of nicely saying she can’t on an already stressful day, she was rude and dismissive yelling about how that’s not her job and she didn’t sign up for this. I guess the amount of money paid was too good to be true. The price I paid was a reflection of the inefficiency, the attitude and unprofessionalism that was shown in the sloppy work done by this woman. I ordered a large bouquet to use as my bridal bouquet. I got no response when I DMed the company about a possible shipping issue, and the tracking was not clear at all - I was really worried it would not arrive until after I left for my wedding...
. It did arrive on time, and I immediately followed the care instructions, but sadly more than half of the heads on the roses were completely flopped over and wilted. I am really glad I bought extra flowers at grocery stores because I was worried the shipment would not arrive, because I did not have enough salvagable flowers by day 3 (shipment arrival day, day 2, wedding day) to make a complete bridal bouquet. The flowers I could use were beautiful, and the curated bouquets are beautiful, and it did arrive on time after all. That said, I would not recommend Poppy Flowers to another bride without advising they make a backup plan. It’s stressful not to have a clear indication of when the shipment will arrive - especially since you have to sign for the shipment. Having to sign for the package also means you have to be home the entire delivery day - had I known, I would have had them shipped to a friend or family member, as I was busy with a lot of other wedding prep tasks. It’s also a lot of trust to put in a company that your flowers will arrive in good condition to be photographed for your wedding, and mine simply weren’t.

For any flowers intended for wedding usage, we strongly advise against using the Poppy at Home kits for a few reasons. Namely, we have little control over the fluctuations with FedEx shipping, particularly during Mother’s Day week which is one of the busiest for us, and of course for FedEx. Your note about the signature is very helpful, as we have a contract with FedEx where we’ve made clear that no signature is ever required. Your note will allow us to bring this up with them to ensure our procedure is clear, that flowers should be delivered as soon as possible with no signature.
For wedding flowers, we are quite explicit in our FAQ that all clients should use our vetted floral designers for your big day, no matter if it’s a full scale production with multiple pieces or just a bouquet or 2. Our design network of over 75 florists are there to ensure that every flower is fresh and camera ready. We’re grateful that they have access to a vast supply of stems to ensure that everything we present to you is to our extremely high floral standards. Roses particularly can require a lot of extra TLC to be wedding ready. With the DIY kits, our team cannot troubleshoot in real time or get you stems to our standards, as of course the DIY shipping is dependent on FedEx. We can understand the frustration of unclear shipping instructions, so for weddings we would never recommend a client relies on something out of our hands.
The other benefit of working with our weddings team is that we have a robust support network specifically focused on weddings. For DIY kits, we do not designate a support person- focused just on your day, though of course have an amazing general Poppy support team for less time sensitive issues.

Poppy was founded in 2019 by Cameron Hardesty. While working at The White House in 2014, she learned floral design at The White House Flower Shop from her floral mentor, Laura Dowling, and, later with master florist, Gregor Lersch in Germany. Most recently, she spent 4 years helping scale one of the largest e-commerce floral gifting companies in the country.
After managing the florals for her own wedding, which was published in Martha Stewart Weddings, she saw an opportunity to pair farm-fresh flowers, talented designers and on-trend floral designs - at an affordable price.
