I'm an entertainer at heart and married the love of my life in 2015. I've been playing guitar and have been in bands for over 20 years now and have loved entertainment ever since I began playing. I got my start in the DJ business after I started playing at friends weddings as early as 2000. It just seemed like the perfect fit for me with my love of music and entertainment. I officially started Portable Soundz in 2007 and absolutely love being apart of people's Best Day of Their Lives! Check out our new Live Band Package!

Ethan was game to talk even little details, like how long the transitions were between songs, so we could keep the party flowing beautifully! He took our requests and mixed them wonderfully, reflecting both our personalities. He also nailed the volume levels across the board, there was never a moment of spotty microphone connection no matter where we were, including live musicians being microphoned for both ceremony and reception; people could both jam out to the music, or easily find a spot to sit and talk without fighting to hear each other. nd perfectly matched the vibe and types of music we wanted throughout the night. The transitions between songs were smooth — nothing felt cut off — and he kept the dance floor moving the entire time.
We also really appreciated the pre-wedding meeting. Burnie took the time to understand exactly what we wanted, and it made all the difference. He was professional with every announcement and worked seamlessly with us and our timeline to make sure all of our special moments happened at just the right time.
He even helped us pull off a surprise mother–daughter dance without anyone catching on until the big moment — it was perfect!
We couldn’t recommend Burnie and Portable Soundz enough. If you want a DJ who truly listens, keeps the energy up, and cares about making your day special, he’s your guy!

ay by how affordable their services are and how much is included. I was becoming very discouraged thinking I would never be able to afford a photo booth and 7 hours of coverage after speaking with a few local DJ's listed "within my budget" on The Knot until I found Burnie. He was exceptional and went above and beyond to bring my husband and I's vision to life (as complicated as it was at times!) He moved the cold sparks for the exit and was able to execute our vision perfectly with few (but a couple because he was very transparent about our ideas being complicated from the beginning) very minor hiccups along the way that only my fiance and I noticed. He kept guests on the dance floor all night and was picky about which song requests fit the vibe of the reception playlist we provided him in advance. I cannot recommend Burnie or any of the crew at Portable Soundz enough and would hire them over and over and over again for a wedding or big event!

As for the rest we trusted Burnie to feel the vibes of the dance floor and to have the night flow perfectly. Him and his team did a phenomenal job. We loved every minute of the mix he provided & the quality of the sound throughout our venue. There wasn’t a single guest In their seat after dinner. We’ve had numerous guests reach out to us after our wedding expressing how much fun they had and Portable Soundz was a big reason for that. We can’t thank them enough. but they kept a fantastic vibe all night, and we danced the night away. The music we chose for the ceremony was perfect and exactly as discussed. My only comment is that they ended the night by playing the one song I said I didn't want to hear. It was not a huge deal and didn't ruin anything, but I really didn't want to hear that song at my wedding, let alone the last song of the night.

We then had to get started on planning a wedding, something neither of us had been involved with for decades. Everything came together well for our wedding and reception, thanks in no small part because of our choice of Portable Soundz to provide the DJ services for our reception.
Owner Burnie and our DJ, Jared, were easy, and a pleasure, to work with. They took our input on the plans for our reception, made some good suggestions, played the long list of songs we'd selected for the dance portion of our reception and helped ensure that the evening went well and without a hitch.
Thanks Burnie and Jared for all you did to help give us a reception that our friends and family members are still talking about.

edding list to be filled out before the wedding. We met with Jared and broke down our requests and shared a list of guest requests with him. He and his assistant did an AMAZING job creating a flow to the event, meeting requests when needed and providing great advice and music where we didn't know what we wanted.
At the last minute we shifted indoors to avoid the weather, and Jared was very accommodating and got set up without any issues at all! You could tell the crew knew what they were doing. Throughout the entire event we had wonderful coverage, and the playlist for the dance floor was incredible. An amazing flow of requests and classic songs, he kept it fresh and read the room well! If we did it all over again, we'd absolutely hire Jared again and recommend him and Portable Soundz highly to anyone looking for a DJ, you will not be disappointed.

very expansive questionnaire that allowed me to truly customize every part of our ceremony/reception. He was flexible and truly just a great DJ - everyone at our wedding had a blast and still raves about how fun it was and how great the music was. He also worked with me to allow me to bring my own background to hang up for the photo booth they brought, which was very much appreciated. 12/10 would recommend!
