Portland City Grill

We had a small wedding reception here (30 guests). We wanted to give our (mostly out-of-town) guests a true Portland restaurant experience. The location cannot be beat and the food was wonderful. There were three different people that cycled through the event manager position during the few months leading up to the wedding, so it was occasionally confusing and frustrating to have things shuffled to a new person. There were also some inconsistencies between what was discussed for floorpan, design, etc and what really happened on the day of. We're glad we have a great spot to go back to for anniversary dinners!

We had our wedding reception at PCG and were thrilled with our entire experience. We worked mostly with Vickie and she was fabulous through out the entire process. Our guests could not stop talking about the gorgeous views, fabulous food and perfect service. Vickie and the whole staff at PCG did a beautiful job making our vision come together perfectly.

We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at Portland City Grill and it was perfect. I had many out of town guests so this was a great location (and view!) for them to get a taste of downtown Portland and enjoy some cocktails and appetizers. We did a stand up reception for ease and more fun which worked out great. Our room was the perfect size and certainly the food was delicious! All of our guests loved everything and had a great time. My husband and I were new to Portland at the time of our wedding and we had no idea where to start. We thought of marrying at a church and bringing in a caterer and renting all of the supplies and decor. We also looked into other full service venues with packages starting from $3000 but that was for a limited amount of people and for a very basic and bland wedding. Then, we came across Portland City Grill. We had heard of the "Big Pink" of Portland and had heard the raves of the delicious happy hour... I started my research at the end of February 2011 and reached out to the "Private Dining" team on 03/07/2011 and Vickie Carter and her team were friendly from the start and to the end. My wedding was on 06/04/2011 and from the start of the planning with Vickie to end of our wedding day, everything went so smooth. Vickie was professional yet caring and attentive to our needs. She was available through email and phone calls for any questions that I had. Vickie and her private dining team were available for meetings during the week to walk through possible seating arrangements and the food tasting that we had after placing the deposit was DELICIOUS! We had our ceremony and reception in the private dining rooms on a Saturday. We started set up (of ceremony decor around 9am and we had the room cleaned up by 430pm.) The ceremony took place in the room to the far right of the 3 private rooms. The ceremony was beautiful with the view of the West Hills in the back ground and from the different windows you could see the Fremont Bridge and the Hawthorne Bridge. After the ceremony, the guests exited to the other two rooms (which were blocked off during the ceremony) to enjoy tasty appetizers and drinks while the ceremony area was quickly broken down and transformed into part of the reception area. We had the guests exit the rooms and line up in the hallway (FYI -the restaurant was closed to the public until 4pm so we had the restaurant to ourselves) We had a receiving line of guests from the hallway back into the (now open and set up) 3 rooms for a lunch buffet reception. The reception was wonderful and everything we had hoped and wished for. We did not have dancing, we simply had a celebratory meal with all of our family and friends (with background music with self-rented speakers). The waitstaff was courteous, professional and attentive. When we were done, we had a lot of help from the staff with clean up and from our wedding party (with our decor) Overall, the wedding happened without a hitch and it was everything that I had asked for. We had 52 people in total and there was plenty of food and drinks. Every one of our guests had nothing but good things to say about the setting, food and service. We booked all three rooms with a sparkling cider toast and lunch buffet and had it booked from 10:30am to 4pm and I think the total was in the range from $2500-$3000. Portland City Grill has reasonable minimum prices and flexible menu options. The food on our special day was even better than at our tasting and the staff helped me enjoy my wedding and not have to worry about anything going wrong. I would definitely recommend Portland City Grill to any bride or groom that is looking to have their ceremony and reception (or just the reception) for their wedding there! -Jamie T.
