Experts in capturing beautiful Vermont weddings, this close-knit team of boutique photographers brings a feeling of passion and vigor to every wedding they document. Their professional and meticulous approach ensures that nothing is missed and that every precious moment is stunningly preserved to be enjoyed for years to come. Portrait Gallery is owned and operated by Geoff and Wendy McLoughlin. Both lifelong residents of Vermont, this enthusiastic husband-and-wife duo first started their business in 2000. Over the last two decades, they have been dedicated to growing their business, hiring a talented crew of staff photographers and capturing over 700 weddings. With their wealth of expertise, the McLoughlins and their team know exactly what makes a Vermont wedding shine. Specializing in natural light photography and outdoor weddings, they utilize a photo-journalistic approach to capture all of the unplanned moments that unfold throughout the day. They also have a distinct talent for orchestrating innovative and upbeat posed images with couples and their friends. Whatever your vision, their eye for authentic and candid emotion will radiate beautifully throughout the pictures. The vibrant team at Portrait Gallery offers a range of customizable packages to suit every couple, depending on their needs and budget. Packages include seven or more hours, image compilation on USB, free downloading for guests, and much more. As well as standard services, their add-ons include adding a second photographer, videography, plus amazing custom wedding albums from Italy. Hourly options are also available upon request. Full-day packages from $3,000 to $7,000. Engagement sessions $500, or no charge with your wedding package.

The photos are just fabulous and there are plenty of them to treasure our entire lifetime. My favorite parts were getting creative with a swing set shoot, the amazing capture of our ceremony, beautiful candids of our guests both two legged and four legged as we requested; the incredible couples series taken all over the property and especially the water sequence where we got knee deep into the water and had a fabulous time being married and in love! The photos of our dances are just wonderful and Geoff’s dedication to the day with multiple cameras as opposed to multiple lenses really made a difference in the changing light, motion and angels! Turn around was very quick we had a 40 photo preview the day after our wedding and all of our photos five days into our marriage. Geoff was easy going the entire day and was a pleasure to work with. The best quiet but large moment aside from the aforementioned was when my father invited my mother to dance (they haven’t spoken in 20 years) and Geoff caught him motioning her in and how incredibly in sync the dance became! 2020 was quite the year. With the pandemic, it goes without saying that the wedding we had planned going into the year, was not the wedding we ended up with. Just three months before our wedding in June, with the country going into lock-down,...
we decided to change it from a large gathering to a small, intimate affair with the reception moved to a later date. We changed the day, the venue and a number of our planned vendors. When I reached out to Geoff to let him know of all our changes, I wasn't sure if he would be willing or able to capture our ceremony, especially since it would be shorter than his usual minimum coverage time. To my happy surprise, Geoff was willing to be flexible for us and was great about keeping in contact while we finalized our changes. On the day of our wedding, Geoff was there early and took a look around the immediate area and the property looking for the perfect scenery for the photos to come. He was professional, polite and was able to set up for video and pictures quickly so we could time the outdoor ceremony in between the off and on rain showers that afternoon. We got our first sneak peek of the beautiful photos on Facebook two days later and the rest were available online by the end of the week. My husband and I were very happy with both the stunning portraits and the candid shots which best captured our personalities and the personalities of our guests. I look forward to working with Geoff and his team again for our reception.

It was great to have both photographers to save time, as well as to have two different perspectives (and photo views!) during the day. absolutely loved our wedding photos, truly gorgeous shots that we will treasure forever. A couple pieces of advice for anyone that works with them in the future (which we suggest you do!) make sure to confirm the start and end times of your wedding with Jay. During our wedding he told us that his lighting assistant had to work early the next morning so they would have to leave before the end of our reception. It ended up working out just fine, maybe even better with the change of plans, but it did cause stress for me. So I would recommend to anyone that hires Jay to clarify and confirm the start and end times of the event. Then it should be fine. Also if there are particular shots you are looking for make sure to communicate those and remind Jay of these photos on the day. While we absolutely loved the end result there were a few photos that I had hoped/thought we would get that we didn't. Anyway overall I highly recommend the Portrait Gallery, Jay was entertaining and professional and was able to catch many great moments without being intrusive which we really appreciated.

kind of pushy, but this was not a big deal for us; we were happy that he had his act together. Our photographer, Thom, did a fantastic job. He met with us to go over some details and things to consider about a month before the wedding (and in a relaxed environment…we met him at Burlington Bay for ice cream). He asked for the names of our immediate family and wedding party, which he proceeded to memorize. He called people by name for pictures, adjustment of poses, etc., which made him very personable. He was quite flexible and said he could stay longer than the originally agreed upon length of time, if desired, and that we wouldn’t have to pay him for the extra until we received a bill later. We were grateful for his offer, as we did end up having him stay longer. He was also respectful and careful not to be a distraction at Mass (we had a Catholic wedding), which was very important to us. We were pleased with the quality of the photos and all the special moments Thom was able to capture. We would highly recommend him and the Portrait Gallery.

-Geoff and Wendy, both life-long Vermonters, grew up on the shores of Lake Champlain. We were both drawn to the old photos the old family photo albums. So great looking back into family history and seeing times past. Especially intrigued that there was a time before we were born, and that we were not in it! Now, years later, the obsession continues! We love to capture a real moment, that otherwise would be gone. It is like freezing time. For this generation and future ones to come.
-In our free time Wendy likes to garden, and Geoff likes to play and watch soccer. We both like scary movies!
