We had our rehearsal dinner at Positano Coast and could not be more pleased with the outcome! The attention to detail and the level of service that we received was amazing. The had several waitstaff dedicated to our party of 20 for the entire event. The food was amazing from the opening appetizers, thru the main course to finally the dessert. I cannot say enough positives for the entire evening. We would give it 6 stars if it was possible! Selecting Positano Coast is highly recommended!
We had our rehearsal dinner her in May in the Meridiana Room. The room was beautiful, surrounded by windows on two of the sides and divided off from the rest of the restaurant by a thick curtain. The food was great and our friends and family had a wonderful time. I would suggest, however, if you plan to have a private party in the room with folks giving speeches/toasts, that you request (I don’t know if they have it) a microphone/speaker. Because the room is not enclosed with walls on all sides, and you have the noise from the rest of the restaurant, it was hard for folks to hear the toasts. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time!
AMAZING DAY
My husband and I recently had our wedding reception here. We had a traditional wedding mass at our Catholic church, but we decided early on in our engagement that we wanted a low-key but still classy dinner afterwards. We learned about Positano on this site and made a couple visits last year (first to scope out the venue and then for a tasting). We fell in love with the venue immediately. Nice location in Old City Philadelphia, beautiful decor, lots of natural light coming in through all the windows. At our tasting, we loved the flavor of all the dishes we tried, and were stuffed by the end of it. We booked the Meridiana room for the reception so we could fit everyone (about 60 people in all) comfortably. I was a little concerned during the planning process that something might go wrong, being that there wasn't just one point-person for our event, and we handled the details with 3 different managers over time; however, Positano executed our reception to absolute perfection, and my husband and I are extremely happy with how it all turned out. The week before the wedding, I contacted them one last time, to send them pics of how I wanted the room set up, along with our centerpieces and other odds and ends (as I didn't have anyone to do that for me on the day of the wedding), and Positano nailed all the details exactly as I had envisioned. I had several family members tell me later how lovely everything looked. The restaurant was very accommodating when some of our guests showed up a little early before our reception was scheduled to start. Dinner service was smooth, the food was again delicious, and we are very satisfied with the overall experience! Many of our guests told me afterwards that they had a great time. If you are looking for an alternative to a banquet or other large-scale wedding reception, consider Positano! We love it!
We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was great. It was such a cool vibe in the room with the patio and we had a nice buffet table that everyone raved over. The manager was helpful in setting everything up and made menu selection easy. We had an awesome time and think that the cool atmosphere had something to do with it! We wanted a casual buffet and the restaurant delivered while treating us to superb food. Definitely recommend this great space to anyone looking for a rehearsal dinner with personality and great Italian food!
Positano Coast is my absolute favorite restaurant. It has THE BEST atmosphere and great food! This was where my husband took me right before he proposed, this was where we had our engagment party and our rehearsal dinner. It is located upstairs with a cool, mediterranean vibe, its formal enough to have dinners like I mentioned, but also casual enough to just hang out in their lounge with a drink for a few small plates or at the bar, or even their outdoor terrace. Everyone was very kind and accomodating, I can't wait to have another opportunity to go there!
After our families were horrified at the idea of eloping, my fiancée and I wanted something low key for our friends and family to share in. We just wanted something affordable, quick, classy, and non-traditional. We decided to have a “small” wedding ceremony and luncheon at Positano Coast located in Old City Philadelphia.
Initially, we were only expecting to have 30 guests which soon turned into 75. We had a cocktail hour before our ceremony, butlered hor d'oeuvres following, and a delicious lunch selection with salad, a choice of 2 entrée’s, pasta, and dessert. Everyone raved about the food and the Sopra Lounge’s gorgeous atmosphere. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful May afternoon. All the lounge windows were open with the beautiful white curtains swaying in the breeze and the balcony was open for guests to mingle. It was really the perfect setting for us and our very sociable families. We had open seating which worked out wonderfully. Everyone was pretty excited about not having to sit with people they didn’t know. The service was absolutely wonderful! My guests were very impressed with the kind and attentive wait staff and valet service.
My only complaint was communication leading up to the wedding. Keep in mind, I’m very particular and controlling so I needed to know every detail play by play. lol Although, in their defense, considering they don’t usually do weddings, there wasn’t an actual coordinator. My point of contact was the manager Marianna who addressed all my concerns and was more than happy to accommodate us in any way possible. The day of the wedding Mariana and the staff offered a helping hand wherever possible. She let us taste test all the delicious entrées and made sure we were happy in every way. Everything came together beautifully and I wouldn’t change a thing. Positano Coast had always been a favorite place of ours and now it’s a part of our friends and family’s memories forever.
** Positano Coast is directly across from Philadelphia’s historic Merchant Exchange Building which was a beautiful setting for wedding photos with Vida Carson Photography.
