About this vendor
Located in Old City’s gallery district, Power Plant Productions is one of the most unique event venues in Philadelphia. Urban, unconventional, interesting and inspiring, the studio occupies the former Wilbur Chocolate Factory with its historic and iconic smokestack. The building retains all of the industrial feel from this early 1900’s power plant, with its steel beams, 34 feet of industrial windows, diagonal hardwood floors, 25-foot ceiling, and exposed brick walls. The studio is over 4,000 square feet with a commercial style kitchen; perfect for special events, wedding and corporate parties. We work closely with our clients to ensure an exceptional and meaningful event. We pride ourselves on attention to detail, with flawless execution being the ultimate goal.

I couldn’t imagine having two people better than Chris and Jim nor imagine a better venue than Power Plant Productions for our wedding. Chris had such a wonderful sense of composur...
e and poise on our initial call being able to answer every question and concern we had. Once we booked, the level of communication and attentiveness never dropped – whether it was questions about décor, floor plans, or seating charts.
Chris and Jim also pointed us in the direction of fantastic vendors who worked tirelessly both through the planning process and on the day of the event. They truly only work with the best of the best.
As for the space itself, Power Plant is so gorgeous and unique giving a grandiose scale with the smoke stack at its heart without losing the intimate setting that we were looking for with our closest family and friends.
We had check ins as we brought in décor, flowers, etc but never felt overbearing (kind of like you want your waiters to be at a restaurant). Pick up following the event was just as easy and allowed us to move at our own pace once we had our stuff together.
All in All, if you want a venue to stun your guests (complimentary) with customer service to ease all concerns about the big day, look no further than Power Plant Productions.

Power Plant Productions was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. Chris and Jim were so helpful. Always available to answer questions and guide us along the wedding plann...
ing process. The wedding day was beautiful. Lights, candles, plants and a really cool seating area. I can't say enough positive things about Power Plant!
Absolutely beautiful venue in a great location. The building is fairly unassuming from outside, so our guests were not sure what to expect when they walked in. They were blown away...
by how beautiful the space is! The space flows perfectly and the layout provided by Chris was great. Chris was also able to suggest we put up a slideshow of our dog, which was a huge hit. Guests were able to sit and chat at any point in the night, always had access to snacks and there was plenty of space for dancing. We placed some games in the upstairs loft and the kids at our wedding loved hanging out in that space. The lighting at the venue is amazing and is one of the reasons we chose it. It provides so much ambiance! We could not has asked for a more beautiful wedding. Thanks everyone!
Power Plant was the perfect place for our wedding, and we are extremely pleased with how everything turned out in the space! We really wanted a modern, open, and airy location that...
was in the city for our big day, and as soon as we toured Power Plant we knew it was the perfect spot. Not only was the whole facility beautiful, but the owners Chris and Jim were amazing to work with. Chris provided so much direction and insight on all of the wedding related questions we had during the planning process, and she even allowed us to visit the venue several times with our family so everyone could see the space in person before the wedding. We also loved how much attention our event received, and the fact the venue only hosts one wedding per weekend. This made our event feel so much more special and prioritized. Chris and the Power Plant team really made the whole process run so much smoother, and all of our vendors worked seamlessly with their team.
Our wedding day was perfect and the whole venue looked more amazing than we could have imagined when everything was pulled together, with flowers, décor, and lights. Our vision fully came to life and all of our friends, family, and wedding guests loved the space as well. We highly recommend Power Plant as a space that is completely customizable to whatever you are envisioning for your big day, and an added bonus is having such experienced, responsive owners like Chris and Jim that are there for you through the whole process.
We were over the moon about our wedding at Power Plant! The venue is absolutely stunning - we barely needed to decorate with all of the lighting and curtains already in the space. ...
The smokestack makes for an incredible centerpiece and we were able to highlight it with our projected slideshow set up by the venue. Chris and Jim, the owners, and Tommi, the studio manager, are fantastic to work with, very responsive and flexible. The location is convenient in the city although be prepared to climb several flights of stairs to get in and out - there is no elevator. Could not recommend more highly, you will receive so many compliments from your guests!
The Power Plant Productions team was wonderful to work with! Very professional and accommodating of our vision. The venue itself was perfect for our 125 person cocktail style weddi...
ng. It has such a beautiful, light and airy feel in an industrial style. Some simple flowers and votives throughout were all we needed! Everyone on their vendor list was great to work with and worked well together. They really made all of the coordinating seamless! Our guests raved about the space. Would highly recommend!
We could not have selected a more perfect location to host our wedding ceremony and reception last month. The first time we stepped into the Power Plant, we knew it was where we wa...
nted to get married. A perfect blank canvas, the space is airy, intimate, and one-of-a-kind. Chris and her husband, Jim, did an amazing job transforming the former chocolate factory into the event and studio space that it is today. We loved that it is a family-owned business, not some large-event conglomerate. We felt cared for and heard every step of the way. Chris and her team are kind, communicative, and anticipated our every need. Thank you for helping to make our day the best day.
We are so happy that we decided to have our wedding at Power Plant Productions. Jim & Chris were so incredible through our whole wedding experience and we could not have asked for ...
any more from them. The venue was perfect for our big day and provided a great atmosphere. They were really accommodating in making things personal to us whilst also leading us when we needed advice and suggestions.
Power Plant was the location of my wedding in April 2023 and I could not recommend it enough! It was the only venue we saw because I knew immediately it was where I wanted to get m...
arried. The location is perfect in the hole in the heart of old city, and easily walkable to many restaurants and hotels. The space itself is gorgeous! The high ceilings, included drapes and string lights, allow you to dress up the space as little or as much as you like. We received endless compliments on the uniqueness of the space the entire night from our guests. The staff was also extremely kind and accommodating. They provided excellent tips along the way, and were easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this space to any couple looking for a unique venue in the heart of the city!
My partner (I mean “my husband”) and I looked at 8 possible venues for our wedding in Center City Philadelphia. Honestly, we could’ve stopped after the first one! When we walked in...
to PowerPlant Productions in Old City, we knew that this would be the place.
It’s the coolest space for a party, and no other venue in Center City is anything like it! When visiting other venues, we imagined how we’d decorate to mask the ugly ballroom carpets, bland or dusty-looking walls, and utter lack of personality (even at classic, historical sites). But at PowerPlant, we wanted the gorgeous space to speak for itself, and use a little decor to accentuate its natural appeal. From the gorgeous wide-plank hardwoods, all white brick walls, extraordinarily high ceilings, massive wall of windows, and that huge iconic smokestack! There is no place like it.
Not being pro party planners, having access to Chris and Jim (the owners–who got married there) and Tommi (manager) was the lifeline I didn’t know we needed. First, they actually own the building which is different than other city venues. If you have questions or requests, you ask Chris and Jim directly. They decide and answer, not a chain of go-between people. Chris has seen countless events at PowerPlant and (at our request) shared a menu of ideas and floorplans that were foundational to our once-in-a-lifetime, phenomenal party. She knows what works really well in the space. Chris even helped us pare down a list of vendors to the ones that would be most likely to negotiate and customize an experience in our financial ballpark (including our caterer–our other lifeline–who also got married there).
Leading up to the day-of, Jim and Tommi made prep as simple as they could for us. They made sure everything was set how we planned it. Plus, all of the scheduling, dropping off, setting up, picking up afterwards… trust me, as you approach the big day, it's these little things (like access to the space when you need) that catch you off guard and cause tremendous stress. They had our backs.
Ultimately, our wedding was unlike any that I’ve ever attended (and I think most guests would say the same). Everyone commented on the venue. It was the night of our lives. We owe that to the gorgeous space, the venue and catering teams, DJ, and of course the phenomenal grooms and guests too. Haha. Thank you, PowerPlant Productions!
My husband and I were married at Power Plant on 10/01/22 with a wedding of about 90 guests. Power Plant helped us make the day exactly how we pictured. The venue itself is unique a...
nd beautiful, and its location in Old City was perfect for our guests traveling to Philly from out of town. We had an open canvas for our decor (although you'll really only need minimal since the building is already so pretty!), and Chris and her team were very helpful throughout the whole planning process and were on top of everything the day of. This gave us the fun of a DIY venue without any of the DIY stress, which made it easy for us to be present and enjoy every moment of our wedding day.
We had our wedding last weekend and we are still in awe of how perfect everything turned out. Chris and the staff were there for our every need and were instrumental in turning our...
vision into reality. The relationship they have with their vendors make your wedding day go as easy as you wish. The Power Plant is the perfect place for a wedding and we can't wait to attend one ourselves.
I had a great experience with PPP for my wedding! Chris was so helpful and responsive leading up to the big day, and the venue staff was beyond attentive during the big day. PPP wa...
s the blank canvas I needed to make my dream day come true, and they were amenable to our requests and worked so well with the vendors. If you're looking for a unique, intimate venue downtown with great customer service, I recommend PPP!
We had our wedding here on October 7th and there aren’t enough works to describe how thankful we are that we selected this venue.
Chris & Jim the venue owners, were absolutely fa...
bulous the entire process. Chris’s communication style and response time is impeccable and she’s always reachable by email or phone. She answered every and any questions we had and is extremely knowledgeable about vendor recommendations.
The venue it’s self it’s stunning and extremely unique. It has gorgeous natural light, hardwood flooring, and an exposed ceiling. With all those natural features we didn’t feel a lot of decor was necessary.
We were initially drawn to this space because they were really flexible about having an intimate 60 person wedding which is rare to find in Philadelphia.
The day of the wedding we were givin a bridal suite to store all our stuff and have the bridal party hang out before the ceremony, which was extremely helpful. The venue also provided a day of coordinator, Chole who was super helpful for the ceremony lineup and setting up some of our decor. This venue is bring your own vendors which is really convenient to shop around for catering staff within your budget.
I highly recommend this venue for its uniqueness, staff, proximity to hotels & parking garages, and it’s very budget friendly!
We had our wedding celebration at Power Plant in March, and my husband and I are already planning for when we can have another event there! Our entire experience with Chris and J...
im was amazing. They are so easy and pleasant to work with and were endlessly patient and flexible though the ups and downs and many changes due to COVID. All along the way (which ended up spanning two years), Chris was responsive to my endless questions and was an incredible source of information and referrals for everything we would need to make every last detail of our event just as we wanted it. In addition to Chris and Jim, we had the good fortune to work with their kids who did a photo booth upstairs (which was a huge hit) and watched our puppy so we could enjoy the evening.
On to the venue. It is magical. The first time we saw it, we knew it was perfect for the vibe we were going for and it didn't disappoint. Our guests raved about everything - the layout, lighting and flow for food, music and dancing, etc. If you are looking for someplace unique and want to work with wonderful people who go above and beyond, Power Plant is your place.
BEST VENUE EVER! Seriously, if you are considering going with Power Plant Productions for your wedding you will definitely not regret it. The venue is not only beautiful but Chris ...
and her team were AWESOME! From day one, Chris made me feel taken care of - she sent long lists of vendor recommendations and frequently checked in to see if I needed anything. Everything on our wedding day went perfectly and seamlessly - I could not have asked for a better venue and team to work with for our big day!
Power Plant Productions is the best!! The venue is gorgeous and made our wedding reception perfect. Definitely the best price for the value in the area, too. From the beginning, Ch...
ris was SO helpful and accommodating. She sent us so many amazing vendor recommendations and helped us coordinate to make sure that everything was in order for the big day. She helped make sure that all details were accounted for (decorations, seating, photo booth, dj, signage, etc.), and was great about following up in the months and weeks leading up to make sure that everything was set. The venue is spacious, yet feels warm and intimate, and has a beautiful modern look. Our guests loved it. We can't recommend it highly enough if you're looking for a wedding venue in Philly!
We had a wonderful wedding experience at Power Plant and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to have a unique wedding experience in center city that doesn't break the b...
ank! Chris was amazingly responsive from the beginning through helping us postpone due to Covid, and of course in the final weeks before the wedding where she went above and beyond to ensure all the pieces came together how we wanted them. The space was absolutely beautiful and our guests raved about the entire experience! I can assure you, you will NOT regret booking with Power Plant! P.S. - Power Plant's recommended vendor list is so helpful. If you are looking for an affordable catering option on the list, I have to give a shout out to Catering By Rich!
We had our wedding at Power Plant in August after having to postpone twice due to the pandemic. Chris (the venue owner and coordinator) and Jim (also a venue owner) were so flexibl...
e, helpful, and downright lovely before, during, and after the postponement process. Chris was great in general -- she patiently answered my (many) questions and offered up so many good ideas. When we had a last minute issue, she was very encouraging and sweet.
The venue itself is amazing. We looked at so many places before Power Plant and nothing really spoke to us. We weren't into ballrooms or farmhouses (which seem like a vast majority of venues in the area), so when we walked into Power Plant it was a breath of fresh air. It's a white brick open warehouse feel that is a dream to photograph in and honestly doesn't need a lot of decoration. We did flower centerpieces and a bit of greenery down the aisle for the ceremony and that was more than enough. So many of our guests commented on how cool the space was! I also loved that we could bring all of our own vendors in as it allowed for so much flexibility. I would 1000% recommend having your wedding here!
We had our reception here and it was fantastic! Chris Meck was extremely helpful with planning and coordination, and she was able to connect us with great vendors. We loved the ind...
ustrial vibe of the Power Plant - it was so unique and exactly what we were looking for! I definitely recommend checking it out!
The location is also fantastic - it's right by the Ben Franklin bridge, so easy for guests to access. Thanks to the Power Plant for helping us create the wedding of our dreams!
Chris and Jim are absolutely amazing to work with! Their venue is unique and the space allows you to let your personalities and wedding themes shine through! Chris was flexible, pa...
tient, and compassionate all throughout planning during Covid. Powerplant is a gem, it was the perfect setting for our wedding!
Power Plant Productions was the perfect venue to host our June 2021 wedding, and the Power Plant team went above and beyond to help manage our event details (after having to resche...
dule our date twice!).
The venue: If you’re looking for a gorgeous and unique venue space, with an industrial feel and blank canvas to work with, then Power Plant is for you! It has a great Old City location and is truly unlike any other wedding venue we’ve ever been to. Featuring large floor to ceiling windows, and beautiful white walls, the lighting at this venue can’t be beat and there is definitely a cool factor that comes along with the space. The venue easily fit our 115 guests and was the perfect backdrop for our traditional wedding ceremony and cocktail style reception.
The team: Chris, Jim, and Brian were extremely easy to work with and made us feel heard, valued, and a part of the Power Plant family. Chris helped manage event details and vendor coordination and made us feel at ease throughout our event reschedules due to Covid. Chris was flexible, offered creative solutions and workarounds, and respected our decisions when we decided to push back our wedding dates. We truly felt that we were all in this together, and it was a really sweet feeling to come out on the other side and have the celebration we dreamed of last month.
Despite 2020 putting a twist on long awaited wedding day, everything about Power Plant was an absolute dream. From the moment we walked into this hidden gem almost 2 years ago, we...
knew it was exactly where we needed to be for our wedding, and then getting to know Chris, Jim, and Brian was icing on the cake. Not only is the space beautiful but everyone went out of their way to make our day special. We attempted to hold out with our original guest count of 120 as long as possible and then in August we were faced with the decision to postpone, relocate, or re-route to a micro-wedding of 24. WE ARE SO HAPPY WE CHOSE THE MICROWEDDING!!! Chris was there every step of the way providing us with options and keeping a very Type A bride calm while re-planning a wedding in a months’ time. I might be biased but it was the most special, intimate wedding I’ve ever been a part of. Everyone one of our family and friends who attended, both personally and virtually, have not stopped talking about how beautiful everything was. We walked out of there knowing we were blessed with something special that we will hold in our hearts forever and we cannot wait for our next excuse to return and make more in the future.
Our micro-wedding at Power Plant was a dream! In short, this venue is beautiful, Chris and her husband are incredible, and we were so happy that we ended up choosing them to host o...
ur day.
We had the incredible misfortune of being one of the many 2020 couples who were faced with the difficult decision of cancelling, postponing, or changing our wedding due to the pandemic. We had chosen Power Plant - and our August 2020 date - almost a year prior to the pandemic because of its modern style, flexibility, and laid back (yet extremely helpful) manager Chris. While we were already excited to have our wedding at Power Plant, we found that we were even more thankful for this choice when the pandemic began to upturn all of our best laid plans. Once we knew we were going to need to modify our special day, Chris stayed in extremely close touch. She and her husband bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable with whatever we decided (despite all of us being in new uncharted territory). I will say that their communication throughout this process was incredible. We were given the options to postpone or continue with one of their brand new packages for elopements or micro-weddings. We chose to scale back our 130 person wedding to a 23-person event with Power Plant's brand new micro-wedding package. And we ended up being their first ever micro-wedding! Those who had planned a wedding can only imagine how stressful this was, but Chris was our constant. She made sure we were informed and happy with our choices, and played a heavy hand in helping us transform the space and re-design our special day. This included re-doing our timelines, floor plan, helping us implement covid safety procedures, and facilitating a seamless wedding live stream for our guests who we could no longer have in person. When the day came, our family and friends had no idea what to expect and they were blown away. Not only did the live stream work so well and was easy for everyone (technology literate or not) to access, but the day and the space turned out perfectly. The space at Power Plant allowed us the space to safely distance while still having dinner, dancing, and all of the typical wedding traditions! Our guests came away from the event saying that they might be PREFERRING micro-weddings in the future. All in all, we could not be more grateful to Chris and the rest of the Power Plant team for everything they had done for us!!
Power Plant and their owner Chris are some of the most caring and thoughtful people when it comes to assistance with wedding planning. They helped my fiancé and I curate a plan and...
gave us tips on how most efficiently use or space. We couldn’t have been happier with the excellent service that they provided.

ns and capacity restrictions were put in place, they have only been even more communicative, understanding, and supportive of our wedding planning and decision making. Chris is so quick to respond and she and Jim worked with us every step of the way as we altered our wedding plans. We are grateful and excited to work with their team and get married at such a beautiful and unique venue in the heart of Old City. We cannot recommend Power Plant Productions enough for couples looking to find their wedding venue. You will not be disappointed!
Chris and her staff at Power Plant were phenomenal. We had a relatively last-minute wedding which was only possible because of how helpful she was. She offered vendors that she had...
worked with previously to speed up the process and was willing to give recommendations when we wanted them, but we never felt as if she was imposing or demanding. She is VERY responsive and always available to answer the smallest of questions. The space is stunning even with very little decorations. If you are looking for a no-fuss wedding venue with helpful and kind staff, Power Plant is for you.
We could not be happier that we chose to have our March wedding reception at Power Plant Productions. This was the only venue we looked at. The space is naturally beautiful and u...
nique--we received so much positive feedback from our guests!
From the first meeting, Chris was helpful and easy to work with. While the venue has an open vendor policy, she provided us a list of preferred vendors that was helpful as we began the planning process. She recommended Race St. Pier as a possible outdoor ceremony location, if this was something we were interested in. We decided to reserve the pier for our wedding ceremony, knowing it was a risk in March in Philadelphia. We were in touch with Chris regarding weather leading up to the event and she was prepared to have us move our ceremony inside if needed, which minimized our stress (luckily we were blessed with perfect weather that day).
We opted for DIY for flowers/table decor and Chris's team was great regarding placement. We chose to have a cocktail style reception and it went really well in the space.
We are so excited we chose Power Plant to celebrate our marriage. We highly recommend this venue and the people who run it!

r a cocktail style reception. There was plenty of seating and plenty of room to mingle and dance. The space is so unique and has great lighting. I highly recommend this venue, everything went perfectly and we couldn't have done it without Chris and her staff!
Our brunch wedding at Power Plant Productions was everything we could have ever wanted! The space is beautiful, bright, and airy during the day and made for the perfect backdrop to...
our big day. From the beginning Chris was so helpful! She sent emails with detailed recommendations and information to help us plan our wedding. Because this is DIY venue it can be a little overwhelming to bring in all the vendors yourself, but Chris was there to help every step of the way. They went above and beyond to help with setup and make sure the day went seamlessly. I felt like Chris and Jim truly cared about making our wedding everything we wanted it to be. We are so happy we chose Power Plant for our wedding!

eed for the appropriate amount of seating and how to arrange the space so that the flow worked perfectly. The ceremony set up was beautiful and perfect. Chris was so helpful. They supplied everything we needed for the wedding like chairs, tables, easels, and even baskets and things. She also recommended AMAZING vendors for catering (Power Evens), photography (Peach Plum Pear) and flowers (Vault and Vine). Her son even did our photo booth! Her team made set up and break down for the wedding easy. They were so helpful and caring. I absolutely loved working with Chris and Jim and would recommend them for any event or wedding.
We had about 100 people and I think that was the perfect size. Really nice being able to choose your caterer and BYOB. It really is a blank slate so you can add your own personal t...
ouches. Venue is gorgeous on its own. We were a little concerned about there being 2 bathrooms on the maid floor but it was no problem at all. We also read reviews that the music was not loud enough but that was not an issue for us.
Jim and Chris were absolutely wonderful. Very accommodative, responsive, and helpful through the whole process. My arch even fell over about 10 mins before the ceremony and they had a back up in place almost immediately.
Only downside I would say is that it is very bright and open so the dance floor didn’t get dark until like 9pm (in mid May) which was a little weird.
Power Plant was the only venue my now husband and I visited - because as soon as we stepped in and met with Chris, we were sold. The place is so unique and chic in an industrial wa...
y -- and Chris greets you like you're an old friend. Throughout the entire planning process, Chris (and her husband, Jim, and team), were responsive, courteous, and went above and beyond to help us. They coordinated seamlessly with all of our vendors, and made our drop-off and pick-up process so convenient that I didn't feel any stress throughout it! All of our guests raved about how cool the spot was - even some of the older folks who we thought might think it was a bit too non-traditional. Thank you to the entire Power Plant team who made our event so incredibly special and for making the day stress-free (as stress free as a wedding for a bride can be! :) ) I only hope a friend of mine gets married there so we can experience it all again!
Too bad there isn't a way to give them 7 stars!

What also stands out is that Chris and the crew were absolutely fantastic to deal with! They knew what we were trying to create and worked creatively with us to make it our vision. They were incredibly available and really really helpful.
We can't say enough good things about Power Plant Productions!

We had our wedding at Power Plant Productions in November. It was absolutely perfect! The venue was amazing and all of our guests loved how uniques the space was. Chris and Jim are...
truly such great people. My husband and I were originally set to get married in the Caribbean on St. John when hurricane Irma hit and devastated the island. We had 5 weeks to re-plan our whole wedding in our hometown of Philadelphia. Chris went above and beyond to help me through everything, from recommending a great DJ, furniture options and working with my vendors to figure out all the logistics so everything ran smoothly. Any questions I had were answered very quickly. It was truly stress free.
We had both our ceremony and reception there which made it convenient for our guests. A lot of venues in Philadelphia require you work with their specific caterer, where Power Plant Productions let’s you bring in everything. It really feels like you get to make the space your own.
I really can’t say enough good things. The next day after my husband and I woke up we both said that we wish we could do it all again because we had so much fun. I would highly recommend Power Plant to anybody looking for a unique venue space.
Very helpful with recommended vendors.
Let me start with a quote from one of my guests. I should say this dude does not stay to the end of things. Every. For ANYTHING. His words to me at the end of the night; "Now, I'm ...
about to use a word that I do not use lightly. I'm of the generation that doesn't use this word. You're generation throws this word around for everything, but I reserve it for occasions such as this. Tonight was awesome. Truly. Everything was awesome and it all stems from the location."
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Between how warm and helpful the entire staff is, the beauty of the space, and the entire atmosphere, "it's just perfect for an "off the beaten path" wedding.
The space is an industrial loft with exposed brick and eye-beams and the original smoke stack from when the building was the Wilbur Chocolate Factory. The smoke stack visible from the Ben Franklin Bridge? That's Power Plant! (It has a bit of significance when you went to Temple and your fiance lived in South Jersey for most of your relationship) The building was actually build before the Ben Franklin Bridge which you can see from the front windows of the loft completing the industrial feel.
We had both our ceremony and reception here. Our wedding was a Sunday and we could actually get in on Friday and set everything up!
Chris was incredibly helpful with everything. We opted for an informal ceremony and a cocktail style reception (check out my review of Power Events Catering too!). Chris helped us craft a floor plan for the reception that would accommodate our guests who needed to be able to sit down while also leaving a sizable dance floor. Her husband, Jim, was at the venue the day of and again was so warm and helpful with whatever needed to be done. Erich was on that night as well and went rummaging around in the closet for safety pins when we realized we left them at the hotel and I had a minor wardrobe issue right before our ceremony!
There is a small loft that works great for a formal photo booth or and informal "selfie-station". In our case we left a fujifilm instax camera up there with 100 sheets of film and a light and backdrop. I came home with 30 sheet of film. It's so much fun!
We had a wonderful wedding at the powerplant. Chris and the staff were always friendly and helpful and responsive to any questions we had. The venue itself is beautiful, modern-ind...
ustrial and non-traditional. We had both our ceremony and reception there which worked out perfectly and was convenient for our guests. I would book this venue again in a heartbeat!

he space is absolutely beautiful and really gives you room to build your vision. There are lots of great spots for photo ops in the immediate area, as well (Race St. Pier, Elfreth's Alley, etc.). They're flexible in terms of vendors and you can provide your own booze. It's also one of the more affordable venues in the area. The only things worth noting are that this is a 3rd floor venue with no elevator, but they do provide a stair-climber chair at request for a small fee, and there is a noise ordinance they have to adhere to - but in all honesty, I didn't notice any issue with this at all, and our dance floor was bumping. Can't say enough about how perfect this venue was for us, how smooth it all went, and how supportive the staff was throughout the process. Thanks Power Plant Productions!
From the minute we walked into Power Plant we knew this was the place to have our wedding. We did not want your every day country club looking venue, and this certainly isn't that....
Its a really cool space with large windows, hardwood floors, and a giant smoke stack in the middle of the room. We loved everything about the industrial feel of this venue. All of our guests really loved the venue as well, as we got many compliments on it during the wedding and even after. Chris was also so great to work with. She is super responsive to messages and answered all of my many many questions and also gave advice when asked. I couldn't recommend this venue enough if you are looking for something with a different feel.
This space is urban and industrial meets romantic and bright. There is exposed brick, hardwood floors, iron stairs, and flowy white curtains that give the space a softer and more r...
omantic edge. Full Kitchen, more bathrooms than you could want, and once my wedding party saw it in person for the first time, they all wanted to chip in together and buy it so we could all live there, it was so cool.
Chris and Jim were the exact opposite of everything I had been dealing with up to that point. They were so easy, down to earth, helpful and encouraging that I am pretty sure I sent the deposit the very next day! Working with the both of them made everything so much less stressful. Philly isn't easy for people who cannot do stairs, but PPP has a stair climber you can rent for a very reasonable price! They saw our vision, understood it, and did everything they could to make sure it came to fruition. They both were very responsive and helpful. They answered all our questions and were always there if we needed to ask a few things more or to figure out how our decor would work.
The staff that was there when Chris and Jim weren't was very helpful and accommodating. The staff seemed genuinely interested in our wedding and really took care of us. The sincerity really took it over the top.
On our wedding day, Jim was there to operate the stair climber. He was so sweet and complimented my dress and my family. My grandparents are very frail and need quite a bit of help and when it was time for them to leave, Jim helped them down the stairs, helped them across the street, and got them into the car for my aunts who just fell in love with Jim. It was truly a generous act that came from the heart and my entire family was touched. When we had to leave for our honeymoon early because of a snowstorm, they found a missing rental we needed to return and took it on themselves (for a very small charge) to return it on our behalf. That gesture was so very much unexpected and appreciated! We got our deposit back that we would have missed otherwise.
Our guests beamed over the space and the decor and asked for contact info! We received so many compliments on the space we needed to share them with everyone and make sure Chris and Jim heard them. Older uncles said it was "pretty cool". Friends said: "This place is bad ass!" Family friends said that "This place is gorgeous and feels like the two of you" The two of you being my husband and me. Days later as we were leaving for our honeymoon we were still getting compliments!
That is the type of service and the type of event space Power Plant Productions has. Just phenomenal. My husband and I are so very appreciative and feel so very lucky to have found them and been able to have our wedding there. Chris and Jim could not have been better to us.
My husband Kyle and I got married @ Power Plant Productions in December.
Pros:
-Chris and her husband Jim were very prompt, responsive, helpful, and accommodating of our multiple ...
requests to visit prior to our wedding day.
-The space is phenomenal: urban industrial chic, spot-on lighting, high ceilings, precisely the ambiance we wanted & the the vibe we were going for (we wanted our cocktail-style wedding to feel more like a party than a traditional wedding, and it absolutely did!)
-The preferred vendors were fantastic; we are extremely grateful that Chris recommended Ashley Power (catering) and Jamie Grimble (DJ).
-We were allowed to store leftover booze & decor @ PP for an entire week after our wedding while we were in New Orleans.
-Lanterns were left up for our wedding, free of charge.
-Ultimately, this venue was the backdrop for the happiest day of my life, and I wouldn't change it.
Cons:
-When Kyle arrived before me, my name was misspelled on some venue-issued signage, so he scrambled to get them to correct it before I got there.
-We were completely taken aback by a totally disruptive and really unfortunate issue with our music: It was noticeably too quiet, so after dinner (around 8:30) we asked our DJ to turn it up. (No one was dancing, and our guests were complaining that it wasn't loud enough.) He told us that the Power Plant rep (note: not Chris or Jim) had asked him to turn it down due to noise complaints from the neighbors. WHAT?! When you pay a venue fee, you do NOT expect this. Kyle and I then approached the Power Plant rep, expressing our frustration; he was not the least bit understanding, and instead was extremely condescending. He lectured us on decibel counts and told us our guests were "exceptionally loud." Note: We had 145 guests, nowhere near the venue max. We walked away totally put-off and dejected but resolved to move past it; after all, there were only 90 minutes left in the event we'd been planning for over a year! THANKFULLY, a best friend and bridesmaid, who's also an ADA, chatted with the PP rep about noise ordinances. Ultimately, the music was turned up and we were able to get the dance party going that we wanted, but it definitely took time away from our incredibly fleeting night, detracted from our experience, and is something we'll always remember. Note: Since our December wedding, acquaintances were forced to move their June 2017 wedding from PP after receiving a notice that they could no longer have the band they booked.
Beautiful space and super friendly staff. I fell in love with the look of the place during my first walk through and booked it on the spot. Chris and Jim are super helpful and had ...
great ideas on how to us the space for our ceremony and reception!
We used this as our venue for both our Ceremony and Reception (after a nightmare cancellation by another venue caused us to have to move our wedding date). Honestly, we were so luc...
ky in the long run, because Power Plant was EVEN BETTER than we could have hoped. Perfect for about 100-130 guests (depending on how you plan to do seating).
A beautiful, modern, clean, white space with really high ceilings that allowed for fantastic photographs and customization. It really was a blank canvas to work with, which was perfect for us. If you are looking for more traditional, with archways, lots of hardwood, gold plated things, or anything along those lines, then this isn't for you. This is a great space for modern, young, professionals who want to make their wedding fun and all their own. Personally, we had a beer themed wedding, with over 15 different craft beers, as well as infused vodkas and other awesome drinks. There was a lot of dancing, station style food service, and cocktail style seating. It was awesome. 125 guests fit comfortably with cocktail style seating.
I have no complaints about this venue - the servers/ bartenders, etc, that were provided were excellent. Pricing was more than reasonable. The owner was ABOVE AND BEYOND friendly and professional.
One note about the venue - you need to bring in an outside caterer, and you cannot use kegs for beer.
Wedding: 11/15/2014
It was a unique raw space.;The reception area is a photography studio/photo shoot place. It isn't very wedding friendly. It is not handicapped accessible.
