About this vendor
Located in Columbus, GA, Powerhouse Private Event Center is a waterfront venue that sits directly on the Chattahoochee River. With its exposed brick and breathtaking river views, this unique location offers couples both historic charm and contemporary design. The vibrant greenery and industrial accents provide a timeless modern-meets-history feel that fits any wedding theme or taste. Future newlyweds are invited to host their big day on this historic site that, while newly renovated, still possesses all the magic of a bygone era.
First constructed in the 1800s, the Powerhouse once provided electricity for the Eagle & Phenix Mills, harnessing water and large turbines. All power-generating equipment has since been removed, but its powerful past can still be felt in the walls. W.C. Bradley Real Estate acquired the property with the intent to renovate the property for purposeful use while preserving the past. Today, the PowerHouse can host as many as 300 guests, and offers three unique spaces for couples to choose from: The Lower PowerHouse, the Upper PowerHouse, and the Forebay. In the elegant Upper Powerhouse, you can exchange your vows in front of guests with natural light streaming through the venue’s large steel windows. The Lower Powerhouse can hold up to 250 guests and includes a covered balcony that is ideal for a cocktail hour overlooking the river. The building also includes a prep and staging area for caterers or bartenders, as well as a handicap elevator for disabled or elderly guests to enjoy the balcony views. Lastly, the expansive forebay area allows for guests to soak in the fresh breeze of the river while enjoying the noises of the river. The forebay area can also be tented, so no worries about rain on your big day.
The Powerhouse staff offers a variety of services for your wedding day. From start to finish, our event coordinator can assist with every element of your special day, including the out-sourcing for photography; entertainment; security; rental equipment, and more. All three areas are equipped with ample access to power for wedding bands and DJs. Additionally, The Powerhouse has a wide array of partnerships that can meet all catering and rental needs. With those important details covered, couples can rest assured they will be able to fully immerse themselves in their unforgettable day.

The PowerHouse is a beautiful venue. The outside holds much more people than the inside does. We had about 105 people seated in the larger space and it was tight. We were quite unimpressed with the staff. When we first viewed the property the lady told us one price, then when we went to book it was another. After negotiation she honored the inital price. Then when it came to planning everything the information she gave us was not organized whatsoever. It says that we had to get with a certain company for alcohol and after talking with that company they had no idea why we contacted them. The security prices were set out in the contract and it said they could increase. Well they absolutely did and the manager did not let us know until the week of the wedding which was a shock to us. She then sent us an invoice which we paid and then a week later said we owed her more money for security. If you choose to use this venue, make sure that you understand everything completely and know that new prices may be appearing.
We spent a total of 3 days putting together venues and researching them. It took lots of hard work and dedication to find a place, but we ended up going with a venue that I (the bride) has seen for years and always loved. That venue was the Powerhouse! Though pricy, it was PERFECT. Viktoria was amazing to work with!! She was so helpful and nice even when I had tons of questions. Her niceness is what helped us choose this venue because we were strongly considering another place, but the event coordinator there was rude. Viktoria's kind demeanor is what drew us to using this wonderful place. The Chattahoochee is really displayed at it's finest in the background of this venue. The weather was perfect for pictures outside. We made a deal where we were able to rent both the upper powerhouse and the lower one. We used one for the reception and the other for the ceremony. It worked very smoothly. We were able to have the food set up and the tables while the ceremony was in a completely different room. This place is definitely worth the money and time. Everything is catered through Outdoor Events like the tables, cloths, and chairs. Everything was delivered right on time too. My only complaints are that there needs to be more options when it comes down to who will cater for the events. I shouldn't have to pick off of a premade list. Also, a key to the place would've been nice during the days we had the venue rented. Calling everytime to get the gate opened was taxiing, but to give credit, each time we called, we were promptly responded to and did not have to wait long! Overall, I'd give this place a 12/10 if I could!! I absolutely loved it and could not have picked a better place for my wedding!!
The PowerHouse is the most beautiful venue I’ve seen in Columbus, GA! The venue is positioned overlooking the Chattahoochee river which makes for perfect photo opportunities at every corner! The inside is the most beautiful combination of a rustic and industrial vibe which can be decorated up or left to show off its natural beauty. Downtown Columbus is a quick 2 minute walk down the street and there are so many hotels and restaurants for your guests to enjoy before and after your reception. Victoria was wonderful to work, answered all of my questions, and ensured that everything was perfect for my big day!
My husband and I are native to California and currently live in Columbus, Georgia. We were reluctant to host or wedding out here because the vast majority of our guests would be traveling from the west coast and, to be blunt, we assumed nothing out here could compare to the California coastline. Cut to us discovering Powerhouse on one of our many walks along the Chattahoochee and our minds were changed. The view of the rapids was lovely, very serene actually - just what the bride wants on her wedding day.
We rented the Upperhouse, which is the smaller of the two spaces, and only used it for bathroom access and staging on the day before. Our wedding and cocktail reception took place on the Forebay (the grass and concrete patio areas), where the only major thing we added was a tent. We had a fairly small wedding, around 40 guests (including 5 kids) and it the venue didn't feel too big, though I know it can accommodate another hundred people, easily. The coordinating staff at the parent company, WC Bradley, was responsive, helpful, and readily available. Powerhouse does have a short list of preferred vendors, but I found that they were flexible when we wanted to do something different. Something to keep in mind is that this venue is a shell of a space - no tables, chairs, or even garbage cans were provided (except in the bathrooms). I highly recommend using Jamie Keating as your caterer - he owns Epic Restaurant right next door, and was able to provide a large portion of our rented items. We would have used him for everything, but I had reserved items through another company before we committed to him and would have been out our deposit with the rental company.
