Jim photographed our wedding on 3/23/19. He was so fantastic to work with. He showed up early to take getting ready photos and other venue photos. He was very patient with us and our bridal party and had great photo ideas. Also, once the wedding started I felt like I didn't see Jim in the best way. He took pictures from the background and allowed us to just enjoy our day.

We loved working with Jim. He helped plan the time-line for photographs by email before the wedding. He was awesome on the day of the event- very professional and efficient. Our pictures turned out great! We were looking for someone to just do photos on the day of the event, at the church and reception, and that is it. He was very good with working with us (lots of photographers have packaged deals that are not very flexible). We highly recommend Jim!

We hired Jim Powers for my daughter’s May 2018 wedding in Kansas City. As the wedding planner, I did extensive research to find the “value” vendor in each category. In other words, I was looking for someone who did outstanding work and had great reviews but was very reasonably priced compared to the market. Jim was, by far, the best value in the photographer category. His work is excellent and his reviews are very strong, and yet his rates were significantly lower than almost every other photographer I researched. We liked that he captures the traditional posed wedding photos, artistic shots and the overall flow of the day. He was with us from about 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. on the day of the wedding. He took more than 1,000 shots that day. My daughter and son-in-law were not interested in purchasing an album from a photographer; instead, they wanted to receive all of the images digitally and make their own decisions about what to print, what to share online, etc. Jim provided a first “quick look” with a sampling of the wedding day shots within two days, and then a full online portfolio of shots a few weeks later (both easily shareable with family and friends online), along with a flash drive with all of the images. He had good insights on the best locations for shooting wedding party photos outside near the wedding venue, and he was just great to work with – a true professional. We would strongly recommend him to any other couple looking for high-quality wedding photography at an amazing price.

Sweet man, easy to work with, speak up and he will listen and adjust to your style and taste not just his. WELL worth the money, and you get him all day unlike some who put a time clock on your day. Very reasonable pricing. He gave us extra options and choices I wouldn't have asked for but he gave us anyways, so that made him stand out. If you have a large wedding maybe ask him to add a secondary, ours was small so worked out. We really liked him alot.

Where do I even start? Jim was an amazing photographer to work with! There was a small hiccup in the morning with the second shooter we had requested, but Jim made sure he offered us something to make it right! My bridesmaids and I were behind on getting the pictures started (not Jim's fault!), and he was so cool about it. He wasn't trying to rush us, or make us feel like we were taking too much time getting ready. He just encouraged us to enjoy ourselves and have fun chatting and dancing. A few times throughout the day, he said, "Everyone has to do what the bride does!" which made me feel awesome! During the formal pictures, he was so much fun to work with! He got plenty of sassy and funny pictures to go along with the standard ones. Throughout the whole day, he got all of the shots on our list that he could. He got so many great pictures of our guests as well, and he sent us the finished pictures very quickly! We couldn't be happier with them. I would recommend Jim to anyone and everyone!

Wow Jim did a beautiful job, he knows his stuff. So professional and patient, and knows all the right angles to put you in if you're not use to being in front of a camera. He was very creative, I will cherish these photo's forever, thank you Jim

Jim was an absolute dream to work with. Everyone from my family to my guests loved him! He was early, efficient, and affordable. After receiving our pictures I was surprised at how many had been taken and what all he captured on our big day. He was everything you could ever want in a wedding photographer and so much more!

Jim was absolutely incredible! He arrived early, had great ideas, worked efficiently, and made us look amazing. During the reception our guests loved that he went around taking photos for people and everyone raved about how professional yet fun and upbeat Jim was. Within just a few days he had already sent us TONS of photos for a preview of the wedding. Very impressed and will definitely keep him in mind for future events! Don't let the affordable price make you nervous--Jim is exceptional and does wonderful high quality work. Hands down the best photographer experience ever!!

Jim was incredible to work with, I cannot express how wonderful of a photographer he is. If you want candid, real shots of your wedding in the best light and angles, he is your man! Jim LITERALLY defied the sun to get us some fantastic photos and we were so impressed with the style and form of the samples he gave us. Additionally, if you are a shy couple like us, he is great at recommendations and getting us to relax in front of the camera...you don't feel any pressure and you come away smiling. We cannot recommend him enough!

Jim Bob photographed our wedding ceremony and reception on 9-17-17 and was so FUN to work with throughout the event! He has a great style that makes it easy to enjoy the moment without ever feeling awkward. We have only gotten our "sneak peek" back but we had it 24 hours after the wedding with 200 pics included. The pictures so far are fantastic! He got pictures of all of the key moments, of course, but also so many great candids of our guests, my groom and I, and lots of moments we didn't even realize he was shooting. Isaac, my groom, even commented as we were reviewing the sneak peek that he doesn't even remember seeing Jim Bob around during the ceremony and reception but he caught EVERYTHING! Thanks, Jim Bob!

Jim was great. He is reasonably priced and produces great work. My husband and I are not photogenic people and so I was kind of dreading all the pictures. I don't know how he did it, but Jim had us totally relaxed acting like we did photo shoots for a living. All of the pictures he sent us were awesome. I would highly recommend him.

Jim did such an amazing job with our pictures! We had our sneak peek within a few days which was SO wonderful and we love every single picture!! He's very efficient! Highly recommend!

We actually contracted Jim through another company. We wish we'd known he had his own company because he deserves every penny we spent. He was beyond amazing. He is super fun to work with and does amazing work. We would use him again in a heartbeat!

Jim photographed our wedding 6/10/17. We already have all our pictures and they are so stunning! He captured so many things that had meaning to me, and I don't think he even knew! He is very nice and responsive, and he really goes the extra mile for setup to get great pictures. Plus he is affordable!!

Jim was awesome! Not only did he have a lightning fast turnaround on all of our pictures, we had a sneak peek (200+ pictures) before we even left for our honeymoon! He does an amazing job to make sure that he gets candid pictures and really captured our personalities. He made sure to get pictures of all the details from our wedding which is so special to me because the day was such a whirlwind that I missed a few things but they looked amazing in pictures. He captured our engagement and our wedding so well and we will cherish these pictures for years to come. I can't recommend him enough!

Jim is very nice, energetic, and funny. He definitely knows what he is doing and goes with the flow of the wedding so well sometimes you forget you have a photographer (when he's not directing you in posed shots) until he tells you that that is a perfect thing you're doing and to hold it! He is very reasonably priced for his skill level, whereas some photographers are charging twice his rate for less quality work. We have some very beautiful memories to look back on thanks to Jim.

This is a little overdue, but all I can say is, "Wow!" Not only is Jim incredibly well priced, but he does excellent work and brings a lot of creative ideas with him as well. I had several of my guests specifically mention how fun and interactive the photographer was, which meant a lot to me. One of my guests from out of town even went so far as to find Jim on Facebook to tell him that if she ever needs photography while in town she is booking him. And that was before we all saw the beautiful pictures! Jim went out of his way to make my day special and was always responsive to my e-mails. During out pre-event day discussions, I had e-mailed him to specifically request a popular posed shot at the reception venue. Come the day of the reception, I was so excited and distracted by my guests that I completely forgot I wanted those shots. Jim reminded me and made sure to get them in. They ended up being some of my favorite pictures from that day. If you go with Jim, I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks!

Jim was so great to work with! I found him on the Knot (thank goodness!) and emailed him to find out more information about wedding pricing / details. He got back with me very quickly, every time I had a question. He was very good with planning details, and knowing the timeline of the wedding, and which shots were a "must" so the day of the wedding ran very smoothly. He arrived to the church, even before I did, to start getting detailed shots of the church, the dress, flowers, etc. He then traveled almost 30 minutes to a different spot for the reception, after the ceremony, and got many great detailed shots of the tables, decorations, desserts, signs.. He scoped around outside to find the best places to get pictures with the best lighting. He even accommodated my request of a "glow-stick light" shot while we were announced in as Mr. and Mrs. and it turned out great! He gets many great candid shots of the bride, groom, wedding party and guests and got all of the pictures I wanted. He is great at directing people, as far as how to pose, and knows how to get a laugh or some spontaneous fun out of the group for those silly pictures! His prices are unbelievable... for arriving the day of super early to leaving the night late, it was amazing to have him there the entire time. I was also blown away how quickly he gets pictures back to you.. I had a sneak peek of around 200 pictures the next evening by 8 pm... and 200 pictures for the sneak peek?? I am just blown away by his work - the pictures are beautiful and he was so fun to work with. I would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat!!

Jim was so great to work with on my wedding day! He was very professional and took amazing photos. I also loved that he charged for the day and not by hour and he photographed our entire wedding from start to finish! Highly recommend!!

Jim was so much more than we could have asked for. First off, he is hilarious, and makes the task of taking all of the family photos entertaining, when it could very easily be a fiasco (looking at you Uncle Tony). He was very good about directing family members to where they need to be for each photo to keep the process moving. Jim also did a wonderful job of listening to our desires for different pictures that we wanted on the day of. It is easy to forget in the moment, but Jim remembered every single one that we had talked about before hand. When we got our pictures back, they were even better than we could have ever imagined they would be. He caught all of the small little moments that make a wedding wonderful, and now we get to look at them forever. Jim will not disappoint. I feel like we should have paid you more for how great the pictures turned out, but thank you, Jim for your hard work.

Jim Bob was an amazing photographer with years of experience which was very evident by the way he directed and made sure every shot was perfect!

Jim is a great, nice guy, and will give you very high quality photos. The man made sure we got every photo we requested beforehand. Plus, he staked the place out in the months beforehand and made sure the lighting would be perfect for all the outdoor photos. Also, the price for the entire could not be beat elsewhere. Highly recommend him for any wedding.

Jim was AMAZING!!!! We cannot say enough wonderful things about him. He was the only vendor who reached out to me before the wedding and was with us literally the ENTIRE day! He took beautiful pictures of the bridesmaids getting ready and made the day so special. He was interactive and personable and our families loved him. Jim is an amazing photographer! He did our engagement pictures this past weekend and three days later....I already have all of my image files!!! His turnaround time, quality, and fun personality can't be beat! We are doing a destination wedding out of the country and the resort won't allow outside photographers. Otherwise I would ask Jim to pack his bags and come along. I'd be happy to share details about our experience!!! Top notch blend of posed and candid photos. Love them!!!!!!!!

Jim made our wedding day amazing!! We got married on 11/14/15 and we had about 100 pictures within a day or two for a "sneak peak" of our day. The sneak peak pictures are wonderful and I can tell that Jim and the 2nd photographer Henry really know what they are doing and care about the people they are taking pictures of. They were very tolerant of our bridal party being a little fun and crazy. They captured every moment that we asked them to and put their own artistic spin on some photos as well. We also took pictures at the WWI Memorial and the sneak peak pictures have turned out fabulous!!! He took some traditional pictures as well as captured all the fun and candid pictures that we wanted. We cannot wait to see all the pictures in the next 6 weeks or so. I would highly recommend Jim to any bride looking for an affordable, but truly amazing photographer to capture the wedding day!! AMAZING!!

I found Jim via The Knot and emailed him. He was very punctual and I called him the next day after an evening of email exchanges. After speaking with him on the phone I knew he was my kind of photographer. I sent him my shot list the week of the wedding with an itinerary. He came around 10 a.m. and stayed until approximately until 9:30 p.m. He took every picture on the shot list and checked with us before leaving. The very next day we received multiple proofs. I was overwhelmed with how well they came out. He told us it would be about 2 months before we got the rest but he gave us plenty to look at prior the completion of the rest. I HIGHLY recommend Jim. He was fabulous!

We booked the photographer after looking at tons of photos from other people including him. When he sent me his profile I loved how he caught certain moments and knew how to capture different lighting and a lot of other aspects others did not get. Not to mention his price was extremely fair! He showed up promptly on time. He explained things and different shots I could to do us. Our wedding day was very hot about 100 degrees and of course he had his equipment. Not once did he ever complain about it. He was great to work with. We really enjoyed getting to use him for our photos and sharing our big day with him also. I highly recommend to look at his work if you are hiring for a wedding.

I did not know what I would be getting into when requesting Jim help out with our wedding. He was, hands down, AMAZING. I could not be more pleased with choosing Jim. He was SO easy to work with - he handled the kids well, he had great ideas, he never appeared the least bit stressed. He laughed and joked with my family and fit right in after just a few minutes. He was able to capture the light-hearted fun mood of the day and forever I will appreciate his work. I have been in 6 weddings so far and I have never seen a photographer half as wonderful as he is. He loves what he does and it shows. I know this review makes him sound almost too good to be true - but trust me - if you pick Jim you will NOT be disappointed. I haven't seen all the photos yet (just the sneak peek he posted online from our Oct wedding) but I am already blown away. He captured moments that I never saw happen (you know how busy the day is for the bride). Working with Jim was a pleasure. We both have many memories of our wedding day but it was Jim' who helped capture the images that we will share for the rest of our lives. Long after we have forgotten his name or which guests came without RSVPing, we will have his photos - for that we are so truly grateful. Choose Jim Powers for your photography and thank us later!!

Jim more than met my needs and expectations. We were having a small private simple ceremony and wanted great pictures at a great price. At the time I was getting very discouraged b/c most photographers required a minimum amount of time and preferred to larger all day weddings. Jim was willing to photograph one of the most special days of my life without all the fluff. He was professional and fun. The pictures turned out wonderful. He caught all the moments I could not see b/c I was busy getting prepared. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I look at my pictures often and will always be greatful for Jim's flexibility.

Not only are Jim and his assistant Christy incredibly talented and creative, but they are also extremely entertaining. I had a blast doing my engagement and wedding pictures with him, and all of my guests raved about how much fun they had with him. My pictures are not only beautifully shot and unique, but they also really captured the personality of each of the subjects. You will not regret using Jim Powers.

My husband and I hired Jim Powers for our engagement and wedding photography. We are very pleased with our decision. Jim was very professional (yet had a sense of humor) and was very attentive to our needs. He produced amazing photos at a fantastic price. I would be happy to recommend Powersshots for future Kansas City engaged couples.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Jim made our day wonderful. When we had our engagement shoot with him, I knew he was going to be perfect for our wedding day. He makes it a lot of fun, even involving our families who wanted to take some pictures. You can tell he really enjoys photography. We were able to get a taste of some pictures back not long after our wedding and they look great. I would highly recommend; you get a really great value for the price paid.

I didn't know anything about Jim before my wedding day but I was thrilled with him! He had some very creative ideas and was willing to try any ideas I had as well. He came over in the morning and got some great candid shots of all the girls getting ready and was buzzing around the reception getting shots of friends and family late into the night. Within a few days, Jim sent me about 50 pictures for me to post on my FaceBook page. What a great surprise! He was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend him without question!

Jim is a very personable and easy-going guy who does photography as a hobby and He is Great at it! He has an eye for beauty, but it also flexible. If you have something in mind, he is quick accommodate. Great prices and fun to work with! You will not be disappointed! He does great work and is quick to get pictures back to you!

We really enjoyed working with Jim. Engagement pictures were a great way to meet and get to know him before the wedding day. Its great to see how much he loves photography and he captures the candid moments just as well as the posed. Jim is flexible and always quick to respond which helps when there is already so many things going on in wedding planning. I would recommend Jim to anyone looking for a great photographer. He is definitely someone I would use again myself!

Jim was professional, had a great sense of humor, was non-invasive. Had great creative ideas for shots. He documented our day just as I wanted. We met Jim through a family friend several years ago...and every wedding in our family since then has used Jim as the photographer! He doesn't create wedding albums...but there are other experts for that or you can do it online yourself. What he does do is go non-stop ALL DAY, takes hundreds of photos, and takes pride in the results with touch-ups, color variations, and everything else! No limitations, no hesitations, and open to any suggestion! He also travels...and the engagement session is included in his price and encouraged! CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT JIM!!

I can't sing praises high enough for Jim Powers. Love his work. He got my husband to smile somehow. He ENJOYS taking pictures, which was important to me. He did the engagement pictures, was there from 11am to 10pm day of the wedding, and included a "trash the dress" session for me. One of the biggest money savers was getting the copyright to all the pictures. Somehow with all this, he charged less than ANY photographer I found.

He is so great to work with. I appreciate that he does an engagement session for free to make sure we get along well. After that session, we got our high res dvd of all the pictures (and copyright release), and there were over 400 pictures, even after he tossed the crappy ones (eyes closed, weird faces, etc). He really put us at ease when taking pictures. He went the extra mile when he passed along offers to us, like when a local hair salon was looking to get more photos, he asked me if I would want to get my hair done for free (I declined because my regular hair dresser already offered to do it gratis). I also loved that he spends the entire day with you at the wedding. He arrived at the venue before I did to get detail shots and everything, and then the getting ready shots, etc. I was so excited to see the wedding photos, and of course he got amazing shots that I never would have dreamed of. Plus, he is a great deal financially.
