You could not have asked for a better experience! Yes, the venue and surrounding prairie are gorgeous- but it's really Prairiewood's team that makes the experience stand out. Becky could not have been more responsive and easy to work with.
RetreatHouse was the perfect setting to stay at, get ready in and host our rehearsal dinner in the night before. We had a big bonfire for all out of town guests the night before the wedding and it was all just perfect. You can't beat the prairie views! We will definitely be back to stay and take it all in without the surrounding chaos of our wedding.
Becky was AMAZING. She was so much fun to work with and is so organized. Not to mention that the entire venue is absolutely beautiful. I don’t have one complaint from our wedding weekend. We will definitely be back for an anniversary trip!
We had not only a great wedding day, but a great wedding weekend because of Prairiewood. The house was large enough to sleep family/wedding party the nights leading up to the wedding - giving us more time to spend catching up before the craziness of the wedding day hit. Becky was so attentive and quietly and quickly attended to any issues that arose. Our ceremony in the meadow was beautiful and the proximity of the meadow to the barn (reception site) was so handy. Would definitely recommend Prairiewood to anyone looking to get married in the Manhattan area!
Prairiewood is a beautiful venue and the staff went above and beyond to meet our needs.
Prairiewood was the perfect place for my wedding! We stayed for three days, and were able to have our bachelor and bachelorette parties in their beautiful Blue Sage Barn and Retreat House. The Retreat House also served to house our 14 bridesmaids and groomsmen and was the perfect location for our rehearsal dinner! It truly was the perfect venue. On the day of the wedding my fiancé (now husband!) and I took a short drive out to the Stone House where we had our "first look." It was a gorgeous location, and the pictures from there were amazing. If we hadn't had such a large wedding, I would have considered doing a small ceremony there. However, we had around 200 guests attend that day, so the meadow was much more suited to our needs. We got married in July, and even Kansas summer heat wasn't going to stop me from having my dream outdoor wedding. We had loads of people helping out to prepare for the day, and Prairiewood staff was always available to help and on time with their duties. After our ceremony in the meadow, everyone moved to the Blue Sage Barn for the reception. Miraculously, we managed to seat all of our guests, as well as spare room for a dance floor, snacks, beverages and dessert. We also had a food truck parked just outside where guests could easily filter through one door, receive their food, and reenter through another. It was truly a sight to behold. Of course every wedding has its hitches, but all in all ours seemed to flow like a well oiled machine. Prairiewood was the perfect venue, meeting all of our needs (and our wants!) The grounds were well kept and accommodated our large party wonderfully. All the buildings were clean and had a very homey yet modern feel. It was exactly what I was looking for, and that is rare indeed. I can't imagine having my wedding anywhere else!!
We booked Prairiewood almost a year in advance. It was my mother's gift to us. In addition to renting the Blue Sage Barn, we got the retreat house, too! With renting the house, it gave me and my bridesmaids a beautiful place to stay for the weekend and gave us plenty of time to set up for the wedding and cleaning up afterwards. I ended up renting the house a few more nights to give my out of town family a place to stay. None of us wanted to leave! The staff is awesome and very easy to work with. I definitely recommend Prairiewood!
Prairiewood was a gorgeous place to have our intimate outdoor wedding. We used minimal decor because the space's beauty speaks for itself. There are so many amazing photos spots, including an adorable wooden swing.
Our ceremony was help outdoors in the field, which has been treated for bugs. Did not see or feel one pest all night. The barn was an excellent place to have our reception, our guests enjoyed sitting outside on the porch when they got too tired from dancing.
The staff is friendly and prompt on communication.
With rental of the facilities you are able to have access of the space from Friday till Sunday. This allowed us to do set-up the night before, have our rehearsal dinner then hang out with our wedding party at the pool and have everyone in one place the next day for preparations. My husband and I then had a 1 minute commute after the wedding since we stayed there that night.
Overall an excellent place.
I just had my wedding at Prairiewood Retreat and Preserve, and it was fantastic! If you want to have an outdoor wedding like I have, this is the place. Our theme was "rustic chic", and the venue fit the bill perfectly.
Prairiewood has a beautiful meadow which they offer for ceremonies, and a renovated horse stable, which they call the Blue Sage Barn, which we used for our reception. The barn offers every amenity you could ever need.
If you are trying to find a spectacular venue in the area, make sure Prairiewood is on your list of places to check out. You won't regret it.
Prairiewood Retreat and Preserve in Manhattan, KS was a beautiful venue for our wedding ceremony and reception! We had our ceremony in the meadow tucked away by some trees and our reception in the newly remolded barn.
We rented out the house for the bridal party for the weekend since many of our guests were traveling in for the wedding. It was great being able to spend the entire wedding weekend surrounded by friends and family! Prairiewood made what would have been a nightmare of logistics go rather smoothly. The house was stocked with kitchen appliances and dinnerware so we were able to have our rehearsal dinner there as well.
The onsite manager for the day of the wedding was fabulous! She was always easy to find in case of a question, and made herself available for the entire day to take us around to all the areas on the property for pictures.
The a few downfalls were: 1) During the arrangements prior to the wedding and on the day of check-in, our contact at Prairiewood was at times abrupt or came across as rude. I think it was just because she was busy. 2) The heated pool was not heated because it was broken and the fireplace in the house was broken as well. Just small things, but when you are paying that much for your guests it is nice if everything works. 3) It felt at times they were charging us for every little thing, $30 to set up chairs, $25 for camper hookup, etc. Small items compared to the total rental fee.
Overall a great experience! They made planning a wedding from half-way across the country go very smoothly! The location is beautiful and we had a great backdrop for our photos and memories!
