Prasang Decorators & Event Planners

It has taken me quite some time to write this review, primarily because I hesitate to criticize someone’s business as I used to be a small business owner myself. However, I do believe this might be helpful to anyone considering hiring Prasang for their event. We hired Prasang for our wedding in Newport, RI. Initially, Anjana was excellent in assisting me with the design of our mandap. She even invited me to her home to discuss every detail meticulously. On the day of the wedding they showed up on time and everything was set up on time and looked wonderful. However, on our wedding day, during the satapadi our mandap collapsed. One 20-mile-per-hour gust of wind caused the front pole to detach, almost hitting us if my husband hadn't caught it in time. This incident triggered the other interconnected poles to fall, nearly hitting our parents. Our wedding party rushed to stabilize the structure, but not before one of the poles struck my cousin on the head. While I understand that weather can be unpredictable, a single 20 mph gust of wind should not have caused the mandap to collapse. We were not experiencing anything close to hurricane conditions. What was most disappointing was the lack of response from Prasang. After it occurred, they did not apologize, check on us, or even inquire if anyone was injured. Even weeks later, when my mother called Anjana to discuss the incident, they failed to offer an apology or any form of restitution. Instead, we were told that they would "talk to the owner," which doesn’t make sense as we believe the owner to be Anjana and her husband. It has been over a month since my mom has called, and we have not heard back. The bottom line is It was truly disheartening and embarrassing to witness a $3000 mandap fall apart from a single gust of wind during our ceremony. My advice is, if you plan to hire them for a mandap, ensure the event is held indoors or seek a more reliable provider for outdoor settings.

Prasang Decorators did a fantastic job in setting up the mandap for our wedding. We worked closely with Anjana aunty to view examples of different color schemes for the drapes and flowers and the decorative elements surrounding the mandap. It was helpful that Prasang Decorators had previously worked with our venue, the ballroom at the Boston Marriott Burlington, as they knew how to best arrange the decorations to work with the ballroom design. Furthermore, they were able to effectively complete the set-up in the very early morning to accommodate our morning wedding. All the arrangements were beautiful, and it was a pleasure to work with Anjana aunty and Anshuman uncle.

Anjana and Anshuman at Prasang were fantastic to work with. We had a cozy winter wedding at the Endicott Estate, and wanted to work with the historic New England architecture of the space. Anjana helped us pick out an open-style mandap that worked well with the architecture and felt very fitting for our Hindu ceremony at the same time. They provided entry decor and colors that looked beautiful, and worked in a tight space and reasonable budget.
