As a couple that's really into music, finding a good wedding DJ was a must and also a really daunting task; our biggest fear was hiring a cheesy DJ that would be memorable for how bad they were! This was anything but the case with PRISM DJs. From early communication with Tessa, to fine tuning the playlists and logistics with DJ ShanLynn, everything was easy and enjoyable. In regards to the actual wedding, DJ ShanLynn did not disappoint - she brought the party, had everyone dancing all night long and later raving about how the music at our wedding was the best they'd ever heard! We couldn't be happier and would highly recommend PRISM DJs!

Words are not enough to describe how incredible Prism DJs & DJ Tessa are! From the very first email, responses were informative - quick - and it was obvious they took all of our wishes and concerns very seriously. It sounds strange to say, but they somehow managed to make it feel like we were 100% top-priority-most-important-soon-to-be-newlyweds in the world! Needless to say, we felt very special. Our wedding went off without a hitch. Tessa aced it! She expertly transitioned different genres to give us our dream Cumbia - Funk - Motown - Ariana Grande reception dance vibes!!! She was with us for the entire day painting different scenes along the way. From Folk acoustic to house back to Ariana Grande (!) she added a depth and finesse to each moment of the event that we could have never imagined. WISH WE WERE GETTING MARRIED AGAIN so we could have Tessa back! Maybe a 5 year anniversary party??

I am so happy we found Prism DJs. I love that they are a strong female DJ collective that caters to non-traditional wedding music tastes. However, they are also very flexible and accommodating and will let the couple have as little or as much control as they want over the music selections. For our wedding, we had the pleasure of enjoying DJ ShanLynn's music for the night. My husband and I had pretty specific music requests for our reception and multiple playlists of songs for her (she let us share our Spotify playlists with her which was super convenient!). She mixed the music flawlessly and knew when to read the crowd. She combined our music tastes with her own expertise to ensure that the dance party kept going all night. She was pleasant and professional when making all of the announcements throughout the night, and our guests couldn't get enough of the jams she played.

Tessa was everything and more than what we wanted. My wife and I worked with her for our wedding in April 2018. She was our DJ and MC. Our wedding was not an easy job as we needed to set up in a few different areas. However, Tessa and her team did it seamlessly and the quality was great. I would highly recommend her to anybody and am confident that she would be a great person to work with for your event. Tessa is a phenomenal DJ. Not only does she have great taste in music, she is able to use her intuition to play what people want. She doesn’t just press a button and let the song play, she controls the mood and vibe of the room by reading the crowd. She did an incredible job with this. Tessa is extremely professional. She is punctual, knowledgeable​, trustworthy, and experienced. She had answers to all of our questions​ and would follow up with us if there was something that she was unsure of. She was able to give us insight into things unrelated to her expertise because she has so much experience with various events. This was so helpful for us and it meant so much that we could trust her. Lastly, and most importantly, Tessa is a great human being. She is the sweetest​, kindest, and most humble person. My wife and I immediately felt like she was a friend after our first meeting. She made us feel extremely comfortable from the very beginning which helped relieve a lot of stress. This was the big differentiator for us and the reason why we wanted to work with Tessa. Tessa is phenomenal! Work with her! You won’t be disappointed.

I could not imagine a better fit for our wedding. Tessa was beyond amazing to work with. We gave her a few songs and she created our ideal playlist. Everyone at our wedding loved the music choices and danced the night away.

DJ Tessa is phenomenal! My wife and I got married in June at Saddlerock Ranch and we are so happy Tessa did our ceremony and reception. After an exhaustive search we stumbled across Tessa's website -- and the minute we listened to a few of her samples on Soundcloud, we knew she was the DJ for us. Tessa was super responsive, very friendly, and incredibly easy to work with. The process leading up to the wedding was very personalized. Tessa worked with us to get a sense of our tastes and a feel for what we wanted each section of the day (pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing!) to feel like. She immediately got our vibe and built out a setlist that felt unique and specific to us. The day of, Tessa was amazing. In addition to DJ'ing, she handled our sound setup. Tessa had familiarity with our venue (and knew many of our other vendors) and everything worked perfectly during the ceremony. She also showed up in the classiest tailcoat -- my wife absolutely adored it! Tessa had us dancing all night long! There was never a lull, never a mass exodus from the dance floor. We had the pleasure of working with Tessa and Marion, who DJ'd our wedding. Communication was always quick and easy with both of them, and Marion did a great job balancing our taste in music with what would get people dancing. It was so fun to hear songs we really loved throughout the entire event!

DJ Tessa is absolutely incredible. Our entire experience with her from booking through our wedding was easy and fun. She is very thorough in finding out what type of music you would like for different parts of the wedding and helping to find more music that fits your theme. As well, she is a fantastic emcee and great at helping the event flow along (on schedule) without ever coming off as cheesy. My wife and I booked with Tessa for our wedding, and our DJ was ShanLynn. We couldn't have been happier with how easy the process was, and how accommodating Tessa and Shanlynn were when it came to our musical choices and particularities (we're a little picky when it comes to our music). DJ Tessa was phenomenal. She was prompt with response time, was extremely organized throughout the time leading up to the wedding, and was very thorough with her questions and her follow up. On the day of the wedding, Tessa arrived early, worked seamlessly with the venue, and set up smoothly. During the event, Tessa took over! DJ Tessa is such an awesome pro. We really wanted to hire a DJ that understood our musical taste and we were so lucky to find her! We have an eclectic musical palate (80's/90's alternative/goth/punk etc.). She really listened to us and took into consideration the feeling we wanted to convey for the wedding and reception. She did a great job combining what we wanted, and added some well known tunes that appealed to all tastes in the crowd. She did a freakin' amazing job - everyone at our wedding loved the music she played! Highly recommend her and Prism DJ's (Tessa's all female DJ agency)!

We hired Tessa for our wedding in October and this review is long overdue. After researching several DJ's for our wedding and attending too many weddings with the same type of DJ playing the same boring top 40 hits of the past 5 years, we decided to book Tessa because we knew her style would be different. Booking Tessa was honestly the BEST decision we made for our wedding. In months leading up to the wedding, she was always available for any questions or concerns we had. We met with her in person and she was so genuine and sweet in listening to all of our needs and wants for our special day. It was obvious that she totally understood our vision. The day of the wedding, she arrived early and also added in an additional speaker (possibly more-I can't remember) that she could have very easily charged us extra for but she did not. All of our other vendors stated that she was a pleasure to work with. To make a very long story short, we had the most amazing time and the best music for our guests. Not only did she play our requested songs, but she created the playlist of her mixes to cater to our tastes. We had numerous guests compliment our choice in DJ and many people asked for her information for their future events. We found out later that Tessa had food poisoning the day before and was in the hospital the day of our wedding and was released earlier in the day.....yet still she managed to show up early and create the most amazing part of our day with her talent!! Honestly, I can't recommend her enough. If you are looking for a DJ for any special event, especially a wedding and you don't want the same mediocre quality of service and music then she is for you. I will definitely be hiring her should we have any other events in the future that we need a DJ for!

Tessa is amazing! Throughout the entire process, she was responsive and easily available via email, phone, and in person. She made the music an easy and stress-free part of wedding planning. My husband cared a lot about what music was played at the wedding, and ranked the DJ as one of the most important parts of our total budget. At the end of the night, we both agreed that Tessa killed it (in the best possible meaning of the phrase 🙂)! I had a hard time tearing myself off the dance floor to go mingle with seated guests, because I was having so much fun rocking out to her music choices! Book Prism DJs; you won't regret it.

Music is a HUGE deal to my (now) husband and I. We did extensive research to find a DJ who could handle our vast and different music tastes. Tessa weaved different genres together nicely. The dance floor was packed all night. Leading up to our wedding, Tessa checked in with us periodically to make sure we were all on the same page about the vibe we wanted for our day. She was sweet and very professional at every turn, even when our schedule didn't go as planned. (Typical for weddings!) We'd recommend her for any event and would be happy to work with her again.

Let's begin by saying DJ Tessa is fantastic, and her prices are very reasonable. If that's all you read, that's all you need. We'd recommend her to anyone for a wedding or event. Reach out and talk to her! Longer version: We were recommended DJ Tessa and PRISM DJs by the owner of our venue (Huron Substation). The owner had talked to us at great length, and we told her how we wanted vendors who were professional but not crazy wedding people, who wouldn't put any pressure on us but work with the vision we gave them, and who would be zero drama on the day of the wedding. We chatted with Tessa first over email, then over the phone. She was responsive, calm, friendly, with good questions. She was good to bounce ideas off of and discuss our ideas for the wedding music. Her pricing was incredibly competitive, too. We also went and checked her out at a local bar where she was spinning. It was cool, and in person, we felt comfortable with her. We still wanted to do our due diligence around Los Angeles, talking to a few other DJ companies. They tended to be overly enthusiastic, cheesy, and high pressure in the sale. Other DJs wanted us to purchase other services, like lights and other extras, and many were more expensive. Not what we were looking for. We hired Tessa about six months before our wedding, and she made the process after that easy. We filled out a form with our songs for each section of the wedding, as well as songs we did NOT want to be played (a very good idea). When we got stumped for various parts of the wedding, she shared ideas with us. Her suggestions were smart and built on the vision we had originally had shared with her. She never tried pushing us in a direction we weren't happy with. (And honestly, the PRISM DJs site is a pretty great resource, listing out songs played at previous weddings where Tessa has worked. Check it out if you're not sure what songs to play when.) By the end, we had a clear, established plan for what would be played. We felt good. On the day of, she showed up early to set up. Then the ceremony, the reception, the dinner, the cake cutting, the first dance -- it all went smoothly. Music was just the right volume inside our venue, which was a very small one, allowing people to chat and visit. And when making announcements, Tessa was great. Then the dancing started, and Tessa kept it going until midnight, without any slowdown. In our planning session, we had discussed doing a transition period with slower music around 11, but people were still dancing like crazy, so Tessa made a judgment call and kept the dance music going. We were right to trust her -- and she ended the evening on the perfect song, one we hadn't even planned for. We trusted Tessa on our big day, and she did a great job. Thanks, Tessa!!

Prior to getting married, my husband and I had already been together for 14 years. In that time, we had attended SO many weddings so by the time it was our turn, we knew what we absolutely wanted to spend money on and what we were willing to cut out: music was definitely one area where we agreed not to skimp. Many of our friends had "wedding DJ's", others had live bands, string quartets, soloists, etc. We love music and wanted to be sure that the DJ we chose played music we wanted to hear but could also "feel" the crowd and keep our guests grooving and dancing all night. I went to my first venue visit at what was then my "perfect" venue choice for "different and artsy" relatively around DTLA; the venue did a great job of showcasing its space and setting the ambiance. What I noticed, however, and what made me linger after the short info sessions and self-guided tours, was the music - it was a mix of familiar and favorite 90's R&B cleverly mixed with current tunes. I immediately was drawn in! Since this was my first venue visit, I wasn't sure if the DJ was part of their company too but then I found myself satisfied with the venue visit and then turning my attention to seeking the DJ out because I thought that this would be a perfect DJ who could represent the type of music layout my husband and I would want. When I finally made my way to the room where the music was loudest, I was partly surprised to discover that the mastermind behind the turn tables was female! I know, don't ask why, but the idea of a female DJ hadn't even crossed my mind as many that my husband and I had encountered over the years were men or a team of men and sometimes women. I was immediately intrigued and thought wow, this is cool and different, in the best possible way. Nevertheless, the venue visit was closing but I filed her away in my memory because booking my venue was my first priority. As you can imagine, during our (12) venue travels, the list of prospective vendors grew, and thus, our list of prospective DJ's grew as well - some were on preferred venue vendor lists, some recommended by friends or were friends who DJ'd on the side, etc. While we explored our list of music options for the wedding - which included bringing in an acapella soloist for the ceremony, and then a DJ or band for the reception - I could not get DJ Tessa out of my mind. I kept coming back to that first venue visit and the music - it was like when you're shopping in a store and the playlist that the store is playing is SO good that you're either taking out your phone to Shazam songs or still lingering and enjoying the music. Not only did I linger to listen to her play but she herself gave off a cool and warm vibe. Because my husband didn't get the chance to hear her the night of the first venue visit, we visited her website and saw she was DJ'ing at STK so we decided to go and listen; I had sent her a message prior to coming so after her set, she came to sit with us and just chat. She was super chill, down to earth, and the music set she played (that night was more techno, electronica) gave us that same feeling of wanting to listen and linger. She took the time to tell us about her approach to DJ'ing and gave us a little history of how she found that path. The rest is history! DJ Tessa is a legit DJ who also does weddings. Our guests still reminisce about how "amazing" the music was at our wedding - everyone was dancing until midnight. Booking Tessa = perfection! Xo

We got married in September and I wanted a someone that wasn't your typical wedding/top 40 DJ. I wanted to be able to give someone an idea of what we wanted and run with it. I heard one of Tessa's mixes online and it was exactlh what I was looking for. Unfortunately she wasn't available the day of the wedding so we used a recommended DJ, Matthew Rubino. Leading up to the day Tessa was very informative and communicative, emailing and talking every step of the way. Matthew made our night everything we wanted and more, making perfect playlists from ceremony to late night, we even extended our time an hour because everyone was on the dance floor-andater in the pool! I would recommend prism DJs and Matthew for any event where you want the music to take it to the next level. Our day wouldn't have been the same otherwise!

DJ Tessa is awesome. We knew great music and dancing would be a priority for our wedding in September and she totally delivered. We gave Tessa a few songs to feel out what we were looking for and she absolutely nailed it. Timing, mixing, song choices - everything was on point and our guests were on the dance floor all night and asking about our DJ. Tessa was also very professional and easy to work with. She was always quick to respond to emails and willing to go out of her way to help with the audio setup. Hiring Prism DJs for our wedding was one of the best choices we made. People still comment on how much fun they had and we owe it all to Tessa!

Tessa was unavailable on our date, so introduced us to Marion, who was perfect! We were specifically looking for a DJ who knew post-punk and 50/60s Northern Soul, and most importantly, could fill the dance floor without resorting to tired pop music. She not only played the songs we requested, but she even played a few old favorites we hadn't thought to list. Oh, and she was great about MCing the event as well. She's incredibly easy to work with, and we got tons of compliments about the music she played. (And while Tessa didn't DJ the event, she was also incredibly easy to work with in terms of contracts and responding to emails right away).

Tessa made a lovely addition to our exceptional team of wedding vendors on our special day! She was prompt, professional, easy to interact with and played a rockin' playlist! We couldn't have been happier with our choice to hire Tessa, and think you should do the same ;)

Are you an eclectic, off- beat Bride to be that's looking for a creative DJ to match your musical vision? Then DJ Tessa is your girl! I mean woman! She treats her profession like a craft, rather than just a skill. There are no master playlists on her radar! She perfectly tailored the musical vibe to our liking, but also to the crowds liking. When I started looking for a wedding DJ I actually panicked. I did the worst thing a literally googled “Wedding DJ” where I wasn’t shocked but more frightened. I had asked around to friends and still no leads to a good and affordable DJ. I went to what I know and searched Instagram; after a dark hole of “playing on my phone” I found Prism DJs. These girls profiles and resumes were so badass I had to listen to all their mixes! Me and my husband found that DJ Tessa’s style was exactly the kind of music we wanted (I’m a classic rock girl and he is an old school hip-hop guy). I contacted her and she was so sweet and down to earth. She understood exactly the kind of playlist we wanted! I was so excited to have a DJ that represented us, I mean how often do you get to influence the entire party’s mix! She knew just when to play the right songs and kept the vibe kickin’ all night. Everyone told me how much fun they had at the wedding and how great the music was and we owe it to Tessa! If I ever need a DJ again for anything, Tessa is my girl!

We had the best experience with Tessa as the DJ for our wedding in September. We immediately believed she was the DJ for us when we heard her sample on SoundCloud, and our suspicions were confirmed when we talked with her for the first time. She isn't a DJ that has a premixed list with set party songs for each event. She worked with us to arrange music during all parts of our wedding. She made our wedding music feel so personalized and our guests definitely responded to it. They danced all night! If you are looking for a fun, hard working, professional, and talented DJ, she is the DJ for you. We jokingly say we should get married again just so DJ Tessa can DJ for us some more!

DJ Tessa from DJ Prisms was AMAZING! She is absolutely great to work with at our wedding on 7.24.16 in Topanga! She has excellent, prompt communication and organization skills. This allowed us to be more at ease in the thick of stressful wedding planning. We had the most memorable night because she knew the ins and outs of our wedding venue. Tessa is so lovely and professional, she booked us with DJ Matthew Rubino who exceeded our expectations. His personality was so upbeat and the music flowed perfectly. He was able to combine so many genres seamlessly and we were so impressed as the night went on. No cheesy DJs here!!

Tessa is AMAZING! My husband is a DJ so he was very picky when selecting our DJ. She exceeded his expectations! All we heard all night and still to this day was how great our music was at our wedding. She used the songs we selected and expanded with stuff that we absolutely loved. She kept the dance floor going all night even my aunts and uncles in their 60's couldn't stop dancing. I can't say enough good things about Tessa, she's a great DJ and the sweetest person!!!

Tessa was the PERFECT DJ for our wedding. She worked with our chosen playlist (a combination of hindi songs and various rock music for our fusion wedding!), added her own and read the crowd perfectly to add her own touch.
