They communicated with us throughout the whole process, and Dan even braved a 25° December morning on the beach to do engagement pics with us on the one random weekend we could make it to OBX before the wedding.  On the actual wedding day, these two were rockstars. They kept my crazy family organized and got all of the important shots that we wanted. Even more than that, they perfectly captured the love and joy that filled the whole day- even during uncooperative weather. I honestly can’t recommend them enough and will treasure these photos my whole life.

What sold us on them for our wedding went beyond that. They clearly shared our desire to focus on the authentic moments of the day. They so obviously love the Outer Banks and are committed to showcasing the landscape as part of the experience. That led to some breathtaking photos taken by the Sound. Throughout the day, their joy at being part of and capturing the love and family and friendship that we chose to prioritize at our wedding weekend was obvious and truly enhanced the experience for us and our guests. The photos we’ve seen so far have been amazing. They are everything we hoped for and more. We can’t wait to see the rest!

We had the photography package that was able to be split between two days, so we had Daniel at our welcome party as well as our wedding day. Our photos could not have come out better. Daniel and Kate really captured the love, joy, and chaos that is my husband and I, as well as our family and friends. We have incredibly stunning sunset pictures (the way they caught the light - WOW), meaningful getting ready photos, and they stayed late into the night to capture the partying... OH and Daniel attended our wedding weekend kickoff pool party and GOT IN THE POOL with his camera and just had so much fun with us. I could not have asked for more. We reached out to Daniel and Kate because we were vacationing down in obx and wanted them to do our engagement pictures and we were expecting too so we did maternity pictures as well. I can’t say anything bad about them they went above and beyond for us from the first time we met them, to me having my son and Kate emailing us to say congratulations and all the way up to our wedding day. It was as if we were family, Daniel and Kate treat you like they have known you for years and that’s something we loved especially coming from a big family it was as if we became a family. On our wedding day we had both Daniel and Kate and just having them being there in our best day ever made it so special. They are amazing with kids too, all the shots of the kids that day are just so good. All our family and friends still talk about our photographers and how much fun they were. We are so beyond happy that we picked them, all of our pictures are AMAZING I look at them everyday I can’t stop looking at them. We can’t wait to go back to obx to have them do family pictures! I was so worried about how we could possibly find someone to take beautiful pictures of us that still captured our personalities, but we got everything we could have wanted and more with Daniel and Kate. I spoke to a few photographers at the Outer Banks Wedding Expo and they all had nice looking portfolios, but I walked away thinking that they were kind of "cool guy-hipster-locals-only" photographers that we had nothing in common with. I made my way to Daniel and Kate and knew instantly these were the people I wanted involved in my wedding. They were so welcoming and nice, I was immediately at ease with them. They "got" my vision - photos that are pretty, but not overly-staged that still show a bit of our personalities. They traveled to Wilmington (where we live) to take our engagement photos, letting us take a few with our dog (they even played with her while we took some solo pics!). The awkwardness I was so worried about was nowhere to be found, Kate and Daniel and genuinely a super nice and cool couple. It was awesome to watch them work together, you can feel the love they have for each other and see them brainstorm really inventive ideas for the lighting/locations/poses for the pictures. Daniel came to our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and took such amazing candid photos, and my family/friends loved him! The photos Daniel and Kate took of our ceremony and reception were perfect and exactly what we wanted. We got our preview pictures quickly and didn't have to wait long to get the finished collection. They even mailed us a thumb drive with the photos, all of the pictures printed out and a few select enlarged print-outs. I would recommend Daniel and Kate to anyone, not only will you get amazing pictures, you will get to meet two really awesome people to help guide you through some of the more awkward parts of your wedding!

We have received so many compliments on the artistic and gorgeous nature of our wedding photographs, and people have been shocked at what Daniel was able to capture. We met them through an OBX wedding event and they were the first vendor we booked. Our package came with an engagement photo shoot which we used to get to know them and get comfortable in front of the camera. Both Daniel and Kate immediately helped us relax and feel at ease. By the end of the photo shoot we were having so much fun we didn't want it to end. And of course the pictures were incredible. We used the engagement pictures to create a photobook for our parents as wedding gifts, which they loved. In the months leading up to the wedding Kate was fantastic. She recommended several vendors when we had no idea who to pick and really helped us work through some of our timeline questions. Their wedding photography guide definitely aided in our decision making process, and we are so glad we went with their recommendations, like doing a first look. They also recommended doing a second round of pictures right before sunset which at the time seemed like a hassle to try to fit into our timeline but in the end was SO WORTH IT. When it came to the wedding itself, we had Daniel and one of his assistants. He was professional, on time, and was the perfect mix of involved and behind the scenes. When we took our sunset pictures he brought an extra change of clothes so he could lay down in the surf just so he could get the right shot. I have never seen someone so committed to getting the perfect picture as Daniel was that day but it was completely worth it. We love our pictures!

g. We met Kate prior to the wedding and knew immediately that she was going to be great to work with. On the wedding day her and Brooke were both such a pleasure to be around and they were so calm even with everything going on that it helped us relax. They also sent us a lot of the pictures within a week of the wedding which was amazing.

solutely honest, I never saw Daniel or Kate during our friend's wedding - only because they blended in so well, which was one of the reason we hired them. The second reason, and the more important one, is that we loved their style. They're both so talented, with a great eye - Daniel is more focused on the overall vision - Kate zones in on the details … and together, they mesh so well. Let me preface this by saying that we are very particular about what we do and don't like, in photographs. We lean towards artsy type pictures that haven't been overdone on Pinterest. We like simplicity - clean lines - interesting angles. I'm sure our first meeting with Daniel & Kate was a bit overwhelming, since we basically assaulted them with all the things we didn't want. But they ran with it and assured us that they understood our desires. Day of the wedding: Prior to the ceremony, Kate photographed me and the girls, Daniel stayed with my husband and the guys. I never saw them once after the "formal/posed family pictures" were over. Of course, in my state of nirvana, I had forgotten we had photographers. Until the pictures came - and while perusing through them, I caught myself gasping -- they were absolutely beautiful. Each photograph captured the emotion of the day and I was silently thanking the Gods for giving Daniel & Kate the gift of photography. Hands down, the pictures were just… exquisite.

Initially we were both on the same page, but she eventually talked me out of it, saying "this is our special day". She wanted to get a photographer with great reviews. We viewed Daniel's work in several OBX wedding publications, and read some very good reviews. OMG....so glad she talked me into going with Daniel Pullen Photography. Just a hair more than I initially planned for but so worth every penny we spent. We had a beach wedding and an outdoor reception. The beach photos and reception photos were just perfect. The quality of the pictures were just amazing. We were so very happy with our entire wedding package that Daniel and Kate put together for us. We had hundreds to choose from. Highly recommended!!!

g! From the very beginning of the consultation process they took the time to get to know us and our style so that they were able to provide the types of photographs in which we were interested. Together we came up with a VIP list prior to our wedding so that they did not miss any important people/family members in our shots and we got all of the "necessary" family pictures without missing anyone. Our photos are absolutely beautiful, and we have a great mix that of the "standard" portraits and the more artistic shots that we were interested in. Further, they were both completely at ease and not at all intrusive during our event. We got our photos back very quickly and we have gotten so many comments on how beautiful they are! The value of the service they provide is unbelievable. For anyone planning an event on the Outer Banks, it would be a mistake not to check Kate and Daniel's availability for your photography...we would book them again in a heart beat!

ought the package that included the DVD of pictures and I also added on a "trash the dress shoot" and two additional hours at the reception. The trash the dress photo shoot was a blast! I have never had so much fun! And Daniel is a very creative artist when it came to backgrounds and poses. What impressed me the most was when we were leaving. All of his equipment was packed and ready to go and we were walking off the beach when he stoped and took the time to unloaded everything and take more pictures because he liked the lighting of the sunset in the background. We lucked out the night of our shoot - it was a beautiful day on the beach by the Frisco Pier followed by a gorgeous sunset on the sunside. I was completely comfortable at both locations and the pictures we just received are epic! For the ceremony, Daniel and Kate were very professional. The church we were married in had a ton of rules about photography and the Pullens were already aware and knew what to do - that made one last worry off of my list. It was nice that Daniel was able to be with my husband and his friends while they were getting ready and that his wife, Kate, was with me and my bridesmaids. Between the two of them they never missed a moment or photo opportunity. The reception was just as smooth. Dealing on the business side of things I mostly talked to Casey. She was very helpful in getting me organized. I liked that they had a list ready to go for the formal pictures after the ceremony. It took a while - but that was my fault because I wanted a picture of everyone and everything. If you want to get to the reception quickly I don't see that being a problem with Pullen Photography - they are very concerned with pleasing you and capturing your day exactly how you want! I highly reccommend this company to anyone getting married in the area!

A lot of photographers in the OBX had "build your own" wedding packages but their package was the most custom, plus you receive the digital negatives to do small prints or any print when you want.
