If I could give Purple Fern 10 stars, I would. When we first started wedding planning, I knew that the photography would be my number one priority. I got major decision paralysis when looking for a photographer, because there were a lot of talented photographers out there whose work I liked, but for some reason didn’t love. When I came across Purple Fern Photography, I knew I’d found the one. Sarah is so creative and talented, and we fell in love with her work. Her style is so romantic, and slightly moody, which is the exact vibe we were going for. Sarah did our engagement photos, our wedding photos, and even boudoir photos for me to give to my husband. Not only are the photos absolutely stunning, we had such a blast during the shoot. Sarah has a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, and it really shines through in the photos. She also provides a lot of direction, so if you’re not sure what to do with your hands or how to angle your body, don’t worry about it - she will help you pose in a way that looks great, feels comfortable, and looks completely natural. She also has a wicked attention to detail, so if you've got something on your shirt or there's a cell phone in your pocket, she'll catch it so it doesn't end up ruining the photo later. She's just amazing! Aside from all of that, Sarah is incredibly sweet and funny, which just added to the joy of our wedding day. After working with her, you won’t just have amazing photos to remember your special day, you’ll have a new friend too. Even our guests were saying how much they adored her. After all was said and done, our photos came out absolutely incredible, better than we could have ever imagined, and we will cherish them forever. Bottom line, I cannot recommend Purple Fern enough. We love Sarah, and plan to continue to work with her for family photos for years to come!

We couldn’t have picked anyone more perfect to photograph our day. Our ceremony took place outdoors with a mountain lodge reception and Sarah captured the essence of both in our photos. We get SO many compliments on them. I’m certainly not comfortable being in front of the camera or having all attention on me but Sarah’s energy and excitement for what she does definitely made a huge difference. She was able to get genuine laughter out us at our engagement shoot and was really great when we asked to bring our dogs as well. My husband also has a hard work schedule and she was very patient and flexible with us through the process. We would definitely recommend Purple Fern!

Sarah is honestly one of the best choices I made in wedding planning. Not only is her art breathtaking, she herself is a breath of fresh air. She helped style our engagement shoot which was just so creative and awesome. She went out of her way to accommodate my schedule since I live out of town. She gave me honest advice whether it was styling, timeline of wedding day, or other vendors. On the day of the wedding my family and bridal party absolutely loved her. She got me the wedding and engagement photos back in LIGHTING speed. That woman works! I felt like I could trust her and she actually had my back. I would recommend her to everyone I know that not wants a wedding photographer, but baby or family photos... you should see her "Kiddos" photography ... it will bring a tear to your eye. Sara is just a rare, special and kind person. You will be missing out if you don't hire her.

Even though we were days away from signing on the dotted line with another photographer, I went with Sarah after just one phone call. If you've decided that stunning photography that you and your spouse will obsess over for years is a "must," then book Sarah. If you think a truly gifted photographer is also an artist, book Sarah. If you are a detail-obsessed freak who can't imagine anyone else caring about those things as much as you? Book Sarah. If you and your future spouse are stiff and weird in front of the camera, book Sarah. If you want a teammate in creating the design and palette of your wedding, book Sarah. If you want your photographer to advocate for you and your vision day-of, book Sarah. Yes, you can find less expensive photographers in the Winchester area, but they won't be Sarah, who is worth every penny. One more thing... Sarah and her second shooter's work was SO amazing, our wedding was featured in a "Weddings of the Year" issue of a local magazine. I think Purple Fern Photography was about 95% of that :)

Sarah is truly wonderful. Not only is her talent as a photographer unsurpassed, her passion for her art and her clients is so real and refreshing. I knew, years ago, that if I ever got married, I wanted her to be my wedding photographer. Sarah is so easy to work with. She is reliable and funny and has a way of making one feel at ease. She will make you laugh while working her magic with the camera. Investing in her as my wedding photographer was one of the absolute best decisions I made for my wedding. Her style is so distinctive and moody! She knows how to use the light to her advantage, how to get the all the best angles, and how to make her clients feel comfortable and confident. Also, Sarah is not only an amazing wedding photographer! She takes fantastic family photos, mother and baby photos, engagement, and very classy boudoir photos. She truly goes the extra mile for her clients and treats them as friends. As her client, I felt truly cared for and valued. Sarah was a wonderful addition to my wedding. She is fantastic, and I will always be grateful to her for capturing that special day in our lives.

Sarah was absolutely AMAZING to work with in every way! We are so glad that we choose Purple Fern Photography for our wedding and engagement pictures. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience and will definitely be using Purple Fern in the future!

It was absolutely incredible working with Sarah! I found her through Instagram and immediately fell in love with her deep and sexy tones. During our engagement session Sarah made my husband and I feel so comfortable! We had such a good time running through fields while she caught some gorgeous shots! When I was still obsessing over our engagement session our wedding came along and was the best day of both of our lives! And Sarah captured it so perfectly!! I'm dying to get them all printed to fill my house! Not only did Sarah deliver amazing shots she delivered them so quickly!! My husband and I both highly, highly recommend Sarah! We LOVED working with Sarah! She’s so easy to work with because she’s organized, enthusiastic, and truly loves what she does. We’re not used to being in front of the camera but she made us feel comfortable and at ease. It’s extremely hard to get a natural smile on command from my husband but she has a lot of tricks up her sleeve that made it easy for both of us to smile. It poured from morning to evening on our wedding day so our outdoor plans went down the drain, but she was quick to find spots at our reception venue that we could take pictures at. She also had a quick turn around time. She has a great artistic eye. She picked the most unlikely spots for our engagement pictures but they worked! When looking at several photographers, we couldn’t tell some from others. However, Sarah’s pictures were full of color, texture, and detail, which we love! Most other photographers pictures are so bright that it washes everything out. We definitely recommend her for weddings and other important milestones! THANK YOU SARAH!

Sarah was a pleasure to work with and our wedding pictures are breathtakingly beautiful! She was creative, fun, and got our pictures back to us in 8 days! I could not believe her turn around time. With the package we also got an engagement shoot. It was so helpful to meet her and actually do a photography session before the big day. This gave us the chance to get to know her so we were comfortable during our wedding pictures. Sarah took the time to make sure we got the perfect shots on our big day. We went to multiple locations at our venue to get the best pictures. She got perfect formal portraits, and candid pictures that I will cherish forever. She was great to work with in the planning process also. She was always easy to get in touch with and very responsive to questions. I am an over-planner and she was willing to go over our timeline multiple times until I felt comfortable. I am so glad we used The Purple Fern for out wedding photography. Hands down one of the best decisions that we made about our wedding experience was choosing Sarah as our photographer. I instantly fell in love with her images from previous engagement and wedding shoots that she had taken. The way she captures the natural lighting of any area is truly beautiful. My husband and I were so calm and comfortable during the entire engagement/wedding picture-taking process and it was ALL because of Sarah. She was so awesome and easy-going from beginning to end that it made it easy for us to be us. She was able to guide us and give directions without making us feel awkward in any way. When looking for a photographer for our wedding, we wanted someone who was going to capture those special moments with true raw emotions. I stumbled across Sarah’s page and immediately followed her on Facebook and was captivated by her photos. We ended up doing an engagement session and she was so professional and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Sarah is AMAZING! She was incredibly easy to work with, very responsive, and just an all around fun person to be around! I was nervous about finding a photographer because I tend to not like how I look in photos, but I love every single one of our wedding and engagement photos!!! Sarah is so amazing! Where do I even begin? I came across her Instagram and instantly fell in love with her work. A couple weeks went by and I just couldn’t stop thinking about her photos. After talking to my fiancé, we just knew we had to have photos by Sarah and ended up booking a couples session with her! Our experience with Sarah was so great even before we actually met for the shoot. She was very responsive, answered all our questions, gave us tips and even helped us with styling our outfits! By the time we met Sarah on the day of our shoot, we already felt comfortable and felt like we knew her. The entire photoshoot was magical. That’s literally the best way to describe it. I told Sarah from the beginning that we really wanted golden hour photos in an open field and that is exactly what she delivered - just 100x better than what I could’ve ever pictured it in my head. The day of the shoot was one of the hottest days of the summer so far (95 degrees and humid). I was worried how the heat and humidity would affect my make up, our hair, and us just being sticky and sweaty overall. However, shooting with Sarah was so much fun and we laughed so much that we barely thought about the heat. Sarah is so talented, creative, and has such an eye for art and photography. She will go above and beyond to make sure she gets the best shot. She posed us and guided us throughout the shoot but still wanted us to be natural and be ourselves. Now, let’s talk about the photos! Sarah delivered our photos the very next day! Her turnaround time was insane! My fiancé and I were speechless looking through our gallery. She literally gave us our dream photos and we are forever grateful to have these beautiful photos and memories. She did such an amazing job capturing our emotions. We were in awe by how natural and effortless we looked. We looked like we were just laughing and playing around and happened to be caught on camera candidly. Wow, where do I even begin. Sarah was an amazing photographer who was able to capture my special day perfectly! She makes you feel at ease when taking pictures and she truly captures your personality in the images she takes! Her professionalism and hard work reallly show off when she is working with you. As a semi-professional photographer myself, I was looking for the best around to shoot my wedding and I chose correctly with hiring Sarah. She made me feel confident and beautiful in every shot she took, making sure angles were right to flatter both me and my husband. We allowed some extra time in our wedding timeline for portraits so we were able to play around and get some beautiful shots, which, if you were on a crunch wouldn’t be able to get! Where do I even begin? The responsiveness, the sweetness, the professionalism, the quality, the pure talent. Sarah and Purple Fern Photograghy were an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only did she listen to us and was so much fun to work with, her work is AMAZING. Ah! Sarah at Purple Fern is my favorite human! Purple Fern was the first vendor we booked for our wedding because when I saw her photos I knew she was who we wanted. We live in New Orleans, so we didn't get to meet Sarah before the wedding day, but we texted and Skyped to get a feel for each other before booking and kept in contact in the weeks leading up to the wedding. When we actually did meet, it was great--no awkwardness, just fun, like we had known each other forever. We took photos outside in December and it was FREEZING, but Sarah kept things fun and it didn't feel like work or uncomfortable at all. The outside portraits of my husband and I are my favorite photos of the day. Everyone at my wedding told me that they loved Sarah, and people LOVE the photos--you can't get these kind of photos from any photographer. Another plus--she had all of our photos to us less than 2 weeks after the wedding! She kept me in the loop during the editing process and sent me sneak peaks to tide me over. I literally told my husband that when we have a baby we have to make a trip to the DC area to get Sarah to take family portraits. Purple Fern is the best decision we made for our wedding (you know, other than marrying each other) and I can't recommend Sarah enough!

The day of the wedding went so smoothly, and was so well orchestrated by Sarah. My husband, family, and I had beautiful portraits done with excess time for bridal portraits. Sarah was our photographer for our wedding this past May. She truly has the BEST editing skills ever! (Especially considering our ceremony was freezing and spitting rain the whole time!) The colors are so deep and magical! Our photos look completely different than any other wedding photographers I have seen and that's exactly what I wanted! It looks like we stepped right out of a foresty fairytale. Definitely worth keeping her around during the reception as her and her partner caught so many amazing candid shots of our guests that allow us to continue to look back on the night and see how much fun everyone had celebrating our love!

I've known Sarah for almost 10 years, as a teacher at my high school before the Purple Fern days. I've always been a fan of her creativity and skills in so many different art forms. I remember taking her a set of beads to make a necklace and earrings for my high school graduation- that meant so much to me. Imagine how sweet it was to have her take my engagement and wedding photos so many years later! Sarah’s photography style speaks to my soul—the dark and moody tones, all the trees and foliage, and glowing golden light. Photography was one of the most important things to me out of the whole wedding, the thing I was most picky about and what I prioritized in my wedding budget. I think it’s safe to say there are few people I’d trust to take my engagement and wedding photos, and Sarah definitely was at the top of that list. A husband and wife team, Sarah and Cedric are absolutely wonderful to work with. They have a beautiful style and great personalities. Sarah is the main photographer with Cedric working on their bigger events (such as weddings), but there is really no difference in their quality of photography. I can't wait to work with them again!
