We really enjoyed working with Jesse. He was organized and well prepared. We’ve all been to a wedding where the DJ spends a little too much time talking into the microphone. Jesse was not that DJ. He did a great job of keeping the crowd engaged and informed but wasn’t over the top. We feel lucky to have worked with such a pro!
Was nervous hiring a complete stranger for my big day, but Joe more than calmed my nerves. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Everyone gave us such high compliments. Thanks Joe!
Joe, the owner of Push Play DJs, has been straight forward and professional from our very first contact. He cares about making your wedding a smooth production and provides a clear contract. We chose to canceled our planned reception due to coronavirus concerns and it couldn't have been simpler. We were so excited to have been working with him, and highly recommend his services.
Our DJ made our ceremony and reception absolutely fantastic! He made sure everything we wrote on our planner sheet happened, flawlessly. My hubby and I (along with my family/friends) highly recommend Push Play DJs!
I was impressed when we first hired Push Play DJs due to an organized meeting. On our wedding day, the officiant never received his microphone. There was a car show going on and a small festival next to the venue (which I was unaware of until the day of), so without the microphone our guests did not hear anything during our outside ceremony. The owner was very clear on the contract being precise, but the microphone being provided to the officiant was part of the contract. The biggest issue I had was the entrance to the reception. Before we were announced, my bridesmaids and I approached the DJ and asked him had problems with pronouncing our names and he said them perfectly. Our entrance song played, and it's time for my husband and I to walk down the stairs and the DJ calls me a DIFFERENT name. He didn't say my name wrong, it was the wrong name. The DJ approached me a few minutes later and apologized, he said he had safeguards in place and he didn't know what happened. Isn't that worse? After the wedding, I emailed Joe of Push Play DJ to tell him of the mishaps and my disappointment. I spoke to him on the phone, and he kept requesting that I tell him what I wanted to do. I kept repeating "I've never been in this situation, I do not know what is fair or right", yet I did not get presented an option until MANY times repeating that. I also received many excuses with the apology. For example, for the officiant not being given the microphone, I was told "the DJ said he was sitting out in the cold and then he realized the officiant didn't have the microphone but it would have looked bad walking the mic up to him at the altar". All of my guests and my bridal party were sitting in the cold, there was no reason for that to be said. It's Michigan. I was then told the DJ asked "someone" to tell the officiant to receive the microphone. All of my bridal party were aware the officiant needed a microphone, so was it a wedding guest who had no idea who my officiant was? My husband made a point to go up to the DJ before the ceremony began, shook his hand and introduced himself and told him to ask if he needed anything. He was unaware our officiant did not have the microphone. The DJ at one point was instructing 2 of my bridesmaids and a groomsman how to use the adapter for my bridesmaids iPhone for the music to be played during cocktail hour by her. That was done right outside of the bridal suite which had the doors wide open where I was. So in all of those opportunities, the officiant was never given the microphone. I received a check for a small amount for a dinner for my husband and I as compensation. I was told the DJ wanted to give up his pay, which I declined due to the fact that the guy did show up and play music and I would not feel right taking money away from someone (I'm not heartless). I was then told that the DJ was going to have a financial penalty due to Joe having to "deal with the situation". I was not impressed by the phone call to address the issues, excuses given with "unfortunately it happens sometimes and it sucks when it happens to you", and the constant question of what I want done instead of options provided and ownership. Reviews were brought up and I was asked if I planned on leaving a poor review in which I responded with "I plan to leave an honest review, yes". I would not recommend this vendor due to the issues during the wedding, and the unfortunate phone encounter I had with Joe.
From cocktail hour all the way to the last dance - PERFECT! Every announcement, crowd interaction, song choice - THE BEST! We could not have asked for better. Our DJ's attention to detail, (even when our flower girl took FOREVER to go down the aisle, and he had to come up with another song right on the spot) was flawless. Our day/night was absolutely what dreams are made of!
We had the wonderful experience of working with Joe from Push Play DJ's for our wedding ceremony and reception. We can't recommend him enough! We had to switch venues the day of our wedding due to weather and a power outage, and Joe was so helpful and willing to accommodate us! Everything went off without a hitch and Joe made us and our guests extremely happy with his selection of music and master of ceremony abilities. We can't recommend Joe/Push Play DJs enough! If you want a high quality experience at your wedding, these are the people you want there!
Just wanted to start this review off by saying WOW Joe Todd the owner of Push Play DJs not only kept the crowd entertained all night long but helped make sure our special day went off without a hitch.
He traveled an hour and 40 minutes each way and was more than prepared for all the challenges we through his way, which included him having to have 3 different set ups because of the layout of the venue. From the moment I first met Joe you can tell he is a true professional and there to make your day the best he possibly he can. He was so responsive and easy to communicate with before, during, and even after the event burning my wife and I a CD of all the music played that night.
Joe also helped make sure things were on schedule all night directing the crowd where and when they needed to be there taking so much stress of us as we didn’t have a wedding planner, this man was kind enough and so great at his job he just made sure he stepped up to the challenge.
I could write all day and night about how special Joe made our day but in closing will say if you’re hiring any other company you’re going in the wrong direction.
BEST DJ EVER!
Nick our DJ was great! He made sure our day and night was filled with music to get everyone on the dance floor. We also worked with Joe, the owner who was super accommodating and very efficient to work with. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
I don’t remember the guys name who was at my wedding but he was AMAZING!!!!! He stayed a little later than he was supposed to without being asked. He was extremely professional and I would highly recommend this place to be your DJ for any occasion!
I got married this past weekend and just wanted to say how great our DJ did! There was some confusion but Matt pulled it off great and was such a team player! He did an absolutely amazing job!
DJ Nick was awesome! He played all of our requested songs and then some to keep the party pumping. We really loved the order of songs that he played to segue the party into each portion of the night. We had weather that was less than desireable which resulted in a cold DJ, however Nick ‘weathered the storm’ best he could, all with a smile on his face. We had to make quick weather assessment prior to the ceremony which impacted our entrance and ceremony songs slightly, however, Nick worked well with our venue team to start and stop the music at the right times. The music really kept the party going and distracted the guests from the torrential downpour/sideways wind, happening outside the tent. Thanks Nick!
Joe was super easy to work with from the get-go. He made the process fun, easy and stress-free with his secret event worksheet. :) Joe brought all of his own equipment, did the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and the dancing, as well as all of the introductions, and announcements. He really set the tone and played the perfect tunes to complete our perfect day! We're so thankful to Joe and Push Play DJs for bringing good vibes on our wedding day!
I would recommend this DJ service to my friends. They had us fill out a questionnaire to figure out the demographic of the guests and used it to get everyone dancing. There were people dancing that I didn't think would! Joe was our DJ and he was great. he even gave us a playlist of the reception music to take home.
We saw Push Play DJs here on The Knot, and decided to take a chance. Very happy that we did!! We hired them, Noah was our DJ, for both our ceremony at one location and reception at another. He was great. He was professional, not pushy, and kept things on track. He coordinated well with our photographer. Played the music we wanted(large selection from all types) and mixed it well. After the reception, he gave us a disc of the music we chose..what a nice surprise. We both highly recommend Push Play DJs. Thank you Joe and Noah, for making our wedding memorable.
WOW! Our DJ, Joe, was amazing. He was so easy to work with right from the beginning, asked all the right questions and played exactly what i wanted. Music that appeals to everyone and he did just that. A majority of my guests didn't dance but that didn't stop them from telling me how great the DJ was. I highly recommend using them and if i am ever in need of a DJ again I'll be sure to contact them. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
AMAZING! Our DJ, Jesse, was spot on with his selections all night! He interacted well with all of our guests!!! Did a superb job directing tables for the meal as well as introducing the wedding party.A++++ Our meeting with the owner Joe was awesome. He did everything he could to make our every wish come true while putting our minds at ease. I would especially recommend Push Play DJs to anyone who has concerns about the DJ playing the wrong music or music your guests will not enjoy. They gather an extensive amount of information in order to play only what you want to hear. All around excellent experience!!!
We used Push Play DJ's for our July 20, 2014 Barn Burner wedding. While the business aspect of DJing may not be Joe Todd's forte, DJing itself certainly is! He did a wonderful job of keeping everything on task and checked in with my bride and I often if he had any questions. His upbeat personality kept the good vibes and positive energy going. We received many many compliments from members of our wedding party and from our guests about Todd's services. Everyone thought he was a lot of fun and did a great job! I would use him again in a heart beat!!!
On a side note, we are a same-sex couple, and while it is totally irrelevant for many, it is relevant for other same-sex couples looking for a DJ. We never once felt judged or uncomfortable with Todd. He seemed very supportive and didn't miss a beat with any of our requests. He was very sweet!
We were referred by friends and my first couple of times talking to the owner I was concerned that we would not be happy with our choice. Mind you, our original DJ backed out and we had to find another DJ and the owner tried to make me feel bad for not choosing them in the first place. We talked it out and I felt better about going with them. Then we mailed the contract and deposit check and it got lost. I mailed it to the address he said, but then he told me that all of the mail gets forwarded to a PO Box, to which I asked why I didn't just send it there. So we had to stop payment on the check and write another one and hand deliver it. Then we had a meeting just before the wedding to go over the details. We got there and the owner had lost our worksheet that had all of the info on it for the reception. Thankfully he found it, but I was confused as to why he didn't look for it earlier to make sure it would be ready for out meeting. We were very happy with the DJ that did our wedding reception. With everything that happened before, we were happy with the outcome.
PushPlay DJ's was our DJ for our Labor Day wedding and they were great! Our DJ was Jesse Draper and he was professional, fun, experienced, and played great music! He also helped keep things on track, which we greatly appreciated. We received so many comments from our guests on how much they loved the music, and we had guests of all ages. Joe Todd, the owner, was easy to work with and helped us when we had to make adjustments to our times/songs. I would highly recommend PushPlay DJs for your wedding or event! Many thanks so them for a great night!!
Push Play DJ's did the music for both my ceremony and reception. They were very easy to work with throughout the entire process! My wedding had both indoor and outdoor areas and the DJ (we had Justin) was very willing to move equipment as needed.
They did a great Job keeping everyone on the dance floor! they also gave us a CD with some of the music played at our wedding, which was a great surprise!!
We had our wedding and reception at GrandLoft Events and were very happy that the DJ was included with the venue rental. Justin from Push Play DJs was awesome! The ceremony music was great, the cocktail hour and dinner music was perfect, and he played a fantastic mix during the reception. I heard lots of compliments about the music from my guests (and one even said that it was the best music she's ever heard at a reception). Justin was super friendly and helpful.
DJ was great!! Did everything we asked!!
Joe Todd at Push Play DJ does a great job. People danced a total of 4 hours straight. Never really had an "off" song. Very flexible to work with- He played fight songs, school songs, etc.
Cal was a great DJ and keep the party going. He was a lot of fun and make sure to play all of the guests requests. Everyone had a great time!
I had Push Play DJ's at my Wedding and Joe did a great job! I had a ton of compliments on the DJ! I am so glad I chose Push Play and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great DJ service!!!
Joe from Push Play DJ started our party, kept it going, and made sure that everyone had a fantastic time! I loved his enthusiasm, his willingness to play whatever we wanted, and the extra effort he put into making sure our guests' requests were fulfilled.
We had several guests from Spain at our wedding reception, and they wanted to hear some traditional wedding songs from overseas. Understandably, Joe didn't have these songs in his library. Instead of turning down the request, Joe got online to look up, download, and play these foreign songs. Everyone had a fantastic time, and Joe was great!
The pre wedding communication was great and they were very accommodating. My only complaint is the DJ mixed up the songs for the father/daughter and mother/son dance. Since neither were great sentimental favorites of either pair, it wasn't a major deal, but still a mix-up.
He did keep the party going all night and the dance floor was packed, so overall a great night.
Push Play DJ was absolutely great to work with. He helped us plan our ceremony music and we were dancing all night long. His attention to detail is great and he was more than happy to help us out throughout our process!
We had Chris as our DJ and he was awesome, he really kept the party going I don't think there was a time when there wasn't people on the dance floor.
Joe, the owner, was my DJ and he was great the day of my wedding. Due to tornado warnings my ceremony was moved inside, and Joe rolled with all the changes and made it a day to remember.
Dj did a good job of playing a variety of music and keeping the party going, and we danced all night. He was on time, kind and friendly. The dance floor was never empty. However, items that he did not do which were important to the groom and myself- he almost missed prayer at dinner and had to be reminded to announce it. Also the groom had asked that he play a type of music and he only played two songs. One of which the groom had to ask for twice and it took the DJ an hour to play it. Secondly the groom had asked that the DJ announce my brother near the end of dinner for a speech and he did not do it. Everyone had a good time and the dance floor was always full but the few details were important to family. I would use this DJ again I would just be more clear about expectations.
