Puttin’ on the Hitz and our DJ, Michael Scott, did an absolutely fantastic job every step of the way. Early on in the process, Michael was very communicative and helped us select all the services we wanted while staying within our budget. Closer to the wedding, Michael provided great insight into how the reception should flow and how we should schedule entrances / speeches / dances to create the best night for our guests. Everything went off without a hitch on our wedding day, and all of our guests loved the music. Michael played a huge role in making our special day as amazing as it was, and I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Michael was great! We had exactly how we wanted everything to go in mind and he listened to all our special requests and made sure the night went how we wanted. The dance floor was insane all night because of him! 10/10 recommend

Michael Scott from Puttin' on the Hitz was such an amazing DJ for our wedding in West Des Moines. He was so easy to work with and make the night run seamlessly, he truly made the whole night run smoothly and followed our timeline helping to keep everything on schedule. He made the night so much fun by playing the perfect mix of music for our dance floor as well as providing some music during happy hour and dinner. Everything he did was exactly what we had hoped for for our wedding and the night wouldn't have been the same without him! We had DJ Puttin' on the Hitz, specifically Josh Westbrook of their available DJs, emcee and DJ our wedding. We were so happy with their service leading up to the wedding and could not have asked for a better DJ during the wedding. We have had several guests tell us it was one of the best receptions that they have been to & the dance floor was packed all night long!

We were so impressed with Micheal's day of presence throughout our wedding day. He did a marvelous job in ensuring he was executing our vision and did so in a way that allowed us to let him take the reins. His prep work allowed him to be an independent partner, while ensuring he aligned with what we envisioned for our day. We couldn't have asked for a better partner!!

Michael was very flexible with all of our ideas, and made owned the night! We didn't have to think about anything when it came to timing or production!

Puttin' on the Hitz is a great vendor. They were punctual, got back to us consistently, and respected and worked around our budget and needs. The communication between us and our DJ was effective. We knew exactly what everything cost and the information sheet we filled out was easy to do. The process of choosing songs was pretty seamless. During the wedding, Michael was great at getting the guests to join in on the dancefloor. He also helped us a lot with the announcements, the ceremony music, and the shoe game. Overall, the experience was great and we highly recommend this business.

Michael was also great to work with throughout the process from booking to going over details and the day of. We had a couple specific announcements (parking, dessert service, etc) that we asked him to make and he did so timely and thoughtfully to keep guests informed and having fun! In my opinion, who you choose for your DJ will set the tone of your reception and we would choose him again in a heartbeat!

This DJ was used at a friend's wedding ~10 years ago and we were thrilled to see that he's still in business. We had to postpone our wedding once due to COVID restrictions and Michael from Puttin on the Hitz stayed with us through all the chaos of rescheduling. His communication with us was always proactive and timely and straightforward. He never had me worrying about what to expect. The tunes he played were FANTASTIC, and exactly what we wanted. He was also super flexible when I asked him at the last minute to do something extra (provide sound for the outdoor ceremony when our other sound system fell through). He was so flexible and provided us with everything we needed. He's so professional, fun, and entertaining. My mom even raved about how easily he could be understood when he announced the wedding party entrance! This guy knows how to DJ. HIGHLY recommend all around.

Michael made our reception into one of the most fun nights of our lives. Our friends and family, young and old, all were dancing and signing along with the music. Michael Scott scheduled a phone call with me a few weeks before our wedding. He was so helpful and shared so much knowledge! We wanted to do a DJ/Photographer challenge which was new to Michael and it was such a hit!! He was quick with emails, flexible with changes and just wanted us to have the best night!

Mike is such an amazing DJ! After reading other reviews and booking with Puttin On the Hitz, communication was foremost; anytime we had a question or concern the company was promptly responsive. The company has years of experience and is flexible within choice of venue, indoor and outdoor. Mike met us at our venue for a walk through, to ensure (my anxiety) about sound checks were put to ease. About a month before our wedding and final "itineraries" were made, DJ had all the relevant points covered: when the first dance was, who was making a speech etc. He announced everything happening, guiding guests throughout the night. The price is extremely reasonable & the music set the perfect tone for all the moments on our special day! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My wife and I love to dance. Are we particularly good? No. Do we have a good time flailing about to good music? Oh yea. It does depend on the vibe and playlist of course on how long our dancing shoes stay on. Puttin' on the Hitz kept the vibe good through the entire night. I've never had so many people say they've never seen a dance floor so continually packed at a wedding. Thank you Ryan and Michael!

Michael Scott was excellent. He was professional, personable, and fun to work with. He did not miss beat during the ceremony, playing beautiful welcome music and hitting all of the ceremony songs. He was able to keep the reception party going with songs that appealed to a wide range of ages. 100/10 would recommend!

The music during dinner was perfect. The dance was loads of fun with a variety of music played and they stuck to the list we had provided. Everyone had a wonderful time! Michael was AMAZING to work with! He kept the party going and did an awesome job with song requests. On his website he offers song advice for each aspect of the wedding, which we found to be very helpful and a nice touch. About a week prior to the wedding, we had a phone call with Michael to discuss all logistics for the wedding day including song choices and timeline. Michael was so helpful and thorough during this process that my husband and I were fully able to relax and trust he was going to do a great job! We highly recommend Michael for your wedding DJ!

Micheal from Puttin' on the Hits did an excellent job. He was very quick to respond. He did multiple phone calls before the event. He asked lots of questions to get to know us better! When the big day came, he was timely, friendly, and caring. He was flexible with some last minute time changes. He navigated our audience expertly, getting people on the floor. We were very happy with Puttin' on the Hitz! He did an amazing job. We lived 2 hours away and his communication skills are top notch he was very quick and responsive to answer any and all questions we had. Held a consolation a couple of weeks before our November 12th wedding and went over everything so there was no confusion. When we were unsure about how we wanted to do something (cake cutting and dollar dance etc.) he presented ideas of how we could preform these activities and keep everyone's attention. When we arrived at our reception he came and verified how to pronounce our Bridal Party names which I thought was wonderful. He kept our guests involved, played great music, and the music was perfect not to loud and not to quiet. We were more than impressed and so were our guests! We had Ryan DJ our wedding, and he was so easy to work with. We set up a call with him about a week and a half before the wedding, and we ran through the order of events with him and the kind of music we like. Ryan worked with our venue, so we hardly had to be involved the day of. One of the most important things to us for our wedding was to have people dance, and people were dancing the whole night! Not only are these guys great DJs, they are professional and very reasonably priced! Thanks DJ Ryan!

Micheal Scott did a great job for us. We had him start playing during the cocktail hour and then continue on through the night. He did the normal MC-ing helping us with Entrence, Welcome, Toasts, Bouquet Toss, and Garter. He even assisted us with some impromptu announcements. He music selection kept people on the dance floor, allowing all music loving types a chance to dance. We had a small group whose tastes varied from Hip Hop, to Country, and from Classics to Polka... And he was able to cover them all. His insight and ability to go with the flow were perfect. A number of our guests complimented our DJ choice, even though when we met him we thought there was no Choice at all - he was the one we needed to go with. I hope future brides read this and choose to sit down with him as well - Because there's no stress when you know your wedding reception MCs and music are in good hands.

We hired Puttin' on the Hitz because they were listed as a vendor for our venue and their website showed that, compared to other DJs, they at least pay attention to detail and appreciate professionalism. We didn't even know where to start looking. Every review about PotH talked about how much fun everyone had and how they still talk about the reception, so when Michael still had our date open, we hired him based on those reviews alone. Thank goodness those reviews weren't wrong. What a fun night we had! At first I was afraid it would be one of those receptions where no one dances, but Michael got the party started and it never seemed to stop. I had to run and hide to catch my breath because he kept playing songs I loved and I couldn't ever sit down. He listened to us when we told him what we loved and what we absolutely didn't want to hear. And, he even helped us announce group photos for our photo booth. Above and beyond the call of duty. He was a perfect DJ and we got way more than we paid for. The key to having a great wedding and reception is choosing vendors you can trust, who love what they do and who won't make you break the bank to have a great day. We picked Puttin' on the Hitz primarily because they had the best price in the Des Moines area. But, we highly recommend Puttin' on the Hitz because they provided AMAZING DJ services at our wedding. Our guests were on the dance floor all night long! Several guests told us how great the DJ was and that they loved the mix of music that was played and we completely agree!

He did a great job and played all the music on time. Nice blend of music and requests without too much top 40 stuff and dumb wedding dances (chicken dance). Also MC’d well and appropriately. Would definitely hire him again for another event.

The DJ set up early and was very organized. Music selection was GREAT! Played all the songs I wanted, so happy! I asked the DJ not to talk much and he did pretty good sticking to just the music. Overall excellent experience!
