Absolutely STUNNING for wedding ceremony – super light and beautiful inside with two levels, which allows the photographer to get some beautiful shots above the ceremony as well. Lots of great outdoor spots for pictures! It rained on our wedding day but thankfully the beautiful back of the chapel has a covered area with columns and the photos turned out perfectly. Carol Ann is the absolute BEST to work with!! She was so responsive and helpful every step of the way. You simply cannot go wrong with the Belk Chapel!!! Thank you so very much for the best day.
We held a wedding at the Belk Chapel and were very pleased!
Erin with Queens Univ. was always very responsive and helpful. Their team made our rehearsal and day-of easy - they provided the A/V support for both - and they coordinated with us at the very beginning to adjust our event time block from their standard block to something that better suited our event. [*The one inconvenience was the standard time blocks that Queens offers: there isn't a great option for a mid-afternoon event (3 or 4pm event) without renting the space for the entire day.]
The space itself is a beautiful blank slate - it's gorgeous and airy as-is or easily decorated with whatever flowers and color palette you want. The large windows provide great natural light and an old/historic but not stuffy feeling. The rotunda is convenient as a spacious entry and exit gathering area, and there are so many great photo ops both in and around the Chapel. Our reception was held in Uptown, but the Chapel is located centrally enough that transit between the two event locations was relatively easy.
One of the biggest upsides for us was that we were allowed to select and bring in our own officiant for the wedding service (though Queens also has someone that we could have used if we wanted).
Overall we were very pleased!
We used the Belk Chapel at Queens University for our ceremony venue. We received so many compliments on how beautiful the space was, and we were so pleased with the experience. We chose to rent spaces on campus to get ready and this was a great choice for us. The pictures from our ceremony and the portraits of our wedding party around campus are absolutely gorgeous. We worked with Kat and Erin throughout the planning process and they were always quick to respond to us and helpful along the way. The day of the wedding Kat was helpful to deal with some issues that arose and squash them so that our day could proceed and be wonderful.
I am an alumna and was supposed to have my wedding in the Chapel. After putting a deposit down and being told with certainty that my dream wedding in the Queens chapel was going to happen they informed me that they were starting construction on the chapel and I would have to choose an alternative venue. So I chose Burwell. 3 months before my wedding I was informed that their would be a stage directly in front of my venue during the time of the wedding playing music for a different event. I was not informed about this being there until I notified them of a handicapped family member that would need to park as close as possible to the venue. During this time the construction that was supposed to be started on the chapel a year prior had yet to be started. Due to the poor planning on their end I quickly looked for an alternative venue. I am sad that the dream wedding I wanted at Queens where my fiancé and I met will not happen. I am thankful for the church that took us in as one of their own and is allowing us to get married there. If you are a bride looking to get married here they have been "about" to start construction on the chapel for over 4 years so until the construction is actually complete do not book a wedding here. I wish I could be writing a much different review about this venue.
Overall, the belk Chapel is a nice venue. The price was a bit pricey whereas there is not much included but the venue itself. The outdoors had a wonderful colorful vine that was a great backdrop for pictures.
