Rabbi Barry made the process so easy! We live out of town and unfortunately never got to meet him in person before the big day, but he was available virtually or by phone to answer all of our questions and be a guide throughout the planning process. Rabbi Barry was one of the biggest hits of our wedding! Everyone (not exaggerating) mentioned to us how great he was! He tied both of our religions together effortlessly and wrote/sang a song about us that was an amazing touch! Would recommend him 100 times over!
Barry was truly one of a kind! He personalized our vows and made the ceremony unique to us. He was attentive to detail and really went above and beyond to make our ceremony amazing. Would highly recommend him for your officiant as he is so accommodating to your needs!
Barry is one of a kind. He went over and above to understand as much as possible about our relationship and love for each other. Our interfaith ceremony was 100% personalized to us, including many specific references to the Bible, important traditions, scripture readings, lighting of the unity candle, and all of the Jewish tradition. All of our guests remarked on how special and unique our ceremony was. Barry is an incredibly gifted orator and storyteller, and singer. He wrote us a song that had us laughing and crying. If you are looking for a spiritual, personal, meaningful officiant to create the wedding ceremony of your dreams, look no further than Rabbi Barry Silver.
My (now) husband and I are reform Jews who knew we wanted a reform Jewish wedding. Rabbi Barry Silver was the PERFECT officiant for this special day in our lives, as he took the time to get to know us prior to the ceremony, warmly invited us to his Friday night service, and entertained our ceremony guests with education, passion, and personalized songs. It felt like Rabbi Barry was a part of our family that night, as he is as authentic as it gets. If you are looking for an officiant who is communicative, thoughtful, and dynamic - this is your Rabbi. Thank you, Rabbi Barry Silver, for marrying us!
Rabbi Barry Silver was the perfect Rabbi a couple could ask for. He truly made our families (Jewish and non) laugh and cry the whole ceremony. We first met with Rabbi Silver at dinner. Then he kindly invited our families to Shabbat Services prior to our wedding for a blessing. We have always enjoyed Rabbi Silvers conversation and presences. I would recommend his services to ANY one getting married that needs a Rabbi.
He made my daughter's wedding quite memorable! I highly recommend him. He likes to learn about the couple and uses this knowledge to personalize the wedding.
Rabbi Silver was the perfect wedding Rabbi for us! He was insightful, soulful, and spiritual, and he added the right amount of modern Jewish spiritualism to our wedding ceremony. Our family and friends loved him. Rabbi Silver met with us a number of times before the wedding to go over the ceremony, the Jewish elements that would be included and the additional elements we wanted included, and personal things about ourselves we wanted included. He was so great at least one other couple who attended our wedding will be using him as their wedding Rabbi. Thanks for doing a great job, Rabbi!!
Rabbi Silver came recomended to us from other sources then just the knot. After meeting with him we decided to use him for our wedding, one of the best decisions we ever made. He intertwined the beauty of our relationship with the similarities of the beauty in marriage to both of our faiths. His humor kept people intrigued throughout the ceremony and we had a million compliments on how fantastic he was. My casting director cousins in new york raved about him and can't wait to find a function to fly him out to New York for. I can not thank him enough for the terific ceremony and for being a part of our union. And the song he created for us is going to be framed it was out of this world. THANK YOU RABBI SILVER!!!!!
My wife and I were looking for an interfaith Rabbi who would be able to make both families feel equally important. Rabbi Silver nailed it! Rabbi Silver did an incredible job making our day very special. His attention to detail, warm words, and musical talents were incredible. We thank Rabbi Silver for making our day one nobody will ever forget. I strongly recommend Rabbi Silver if you are looking for an easy going, light and fun ceremony. Thank you Rabbi Silver!
Rabbi Silver was perfect for our families. My husband and I both come from mixed religion families, and were raised culturally Jewish. Rabbi Barry met with us and our parents and everyone loved him, he is easy to get along with and really enjoyable to talk to. He really makes an effort to get to know the couple, and he was able to make our ceremony very special without getting too religious. He even incorporated some star trek into it for my husband :) We had a lovely time working with Rabbi Silver and hope to maintain our relationship with him.
Rabbi Silver is a unique, entertaining, and personable officiant. I received so many comments after the ceremony about how incredibly engaging he was. He added flavor and comedy to his routine and made the ceremony entertaining for everyone. He incorporated stories from our personal lives and made the ceremony unique to us which we really appreciated. We both felt totally relaxed and very satisfied from his performance.
Rabbi Barry Silver provided us with a beautiful, fun and personal ceremony. Everyone loved the ceremony. We met with Rabbi Silver about 3 times before the wedding so that he could get to know us and what we wanted for our wedding. He listened to what we wanted and provided exactly that, and then some!
Rabbi Silver did an amazing job at our wedding ceremony, and other family celebrations since then. Each year we invite our children's friends and their parents to our holiday party, and people of all ages pay rapt attention as Rabbi Silver entertains and inspires us with a celebration of what Jews and Christians share in common and can learn from one another. In a world where religion is often used for the wrong purpose, Rabbi Silver uses religion to bring love, warmth, excitement and harmony among those of all backgrounds and beliefs. I am delighted that my husband, who is usually not interested in religion, enjoys listening to him, especially because of Rabbi Silver's belief in science and reason. Even when Rabbi Silver performed a funeral for a friend of ours, he left those who attended feeling uplifted and inspired. The fact that Rabbi Silver is also involved in social action to help many good causes, adds to his positive influence on our children as a role model. He creates original personalized songs, translates into Spanish for those who don't speak English and is very creative and versatile. We highly recommend him for all occasions.
Some people may find it odd that my husband and I chose a Rabbi to officiate at our wedding, when we are both practicing Christians. However, for us Rabbi Silver seemed the natural choice. While Rabbi Silver takes pride in his Jewish heritage, he also looks upon Christians as his spiritual brothers and sisters. Rabbi Silver is great at bringing the joy of love and family into the ceremony and all of our guests commented on how beautiful our ceremony was. For anyone who seeks an entertaining, personal and warm ceremony that will inspire people of all backgrounds, I highly recommend Rabbi Silver.
Besides marrying my husband hiring Rabbi Silver was one of the best decision I have ever mad! He was very accessible and extremely accommodating. During the ceremony he really made it personal by incorporating things about us, our lives and our love story. During the reception everyone kept coming up to us telling us what an amazing job the Rabbi did and where did we find him. If you hire Rabbi Sliver I can guarantee you will be more than 100% satisfied.
Rabbi Silver did an excellent job at our ceremony. My husband and I got married last month at the Sundy House- I am Jewish, he is not. We had family and guests of all faiths and from all over the world. Rabbi Silver did an outstanding job of making everyone feel welcome- by incorporating several languages and jokes that everyone could relate too. The ceremony was the perfect combination of traditional, modern, romantic and fun! I would recommend Rabbi Silver to anyone :)
It must be true that every Bride believes her wedding will be the most spectacular. However, when the wedding is underway , and after when you look back, you really just want to feel like everyone involved is doing , or did, their level best to make sure the wedding is exactly as you envisioned it. Rabbi Silver will do his level best (and then some) to deliver a wedding ceremony that is wonderful, enjoyable, memorable, and just as you and your groom envisioned without losing sight of the solemnity of the event. We wanted two officiates: one Rabbi and one priest who would interact well in observation of two traditions but at the same time not be too heavy into the religion. We wanted a spiritual observation of wedding traditions common to Jewish and non Jewish weddings. And, to be honest we wanted the perfect amount of levity too. Our planners did not think twice; they recommended Rabbi Silver as the Rabbi. He met with me once, twice, and a third meeting was had with me and my groom. His price, which is undeniably reasonable, is based upon one meeting and the wedding. I required more meetings to be sure everyone understood the order of events because we were blending two traditional ceremonies into one ceremony. I did pay Rabbi Silver for the additional meetings because I appreciated the time he was offering to guide me in the wedding ceremony planning. I had never planned a wedding in observance of Jewish traditions. He patiently explained the elements of the traditional Jewish wedding, explained the elements that we really could not cut in order to keep my groom's family happy, and offered suggestions where we might cut in order to accommodate the non Jewish traditions of importance to my family. If you ask for anything he feels is in appropriate, he will speak up.He is a man of integrity and devotion and he is always intent upon creating a meaningful and loving ceremony of marriage. That said, he has a marvelous sense of humor and will deliver a ceremony that no one will forget, everyone will enjoy, and yet leave you feeling like it was the ceremony of your dreams. We are thoroughly delighted with the precious memories he helped create. We were reminded by the reaction of our guests captured in our video of how our guests, Jewish and non Jewish , alike were mesmerized by his entertaining and yet informative explanation of each tradition being observed in our ceremony. He was simply wonderful and we could not be more pleased that we involved Rabbi Silver in such an important role in our wedding plan. We recommend Rabbi Silver with 5 stars and two thumbs up. If you require a duo of officiates, we recommend that you consult Rabbi Silver and allow him to help you select the officiating partner based upon the ceremony you desire. For our needs , he recommended Father Gallant. We were equally thrilled with the Father and thoroughly delighted with their joint effort and their joint delivery of a magnificent , and yes, truly spectacular wedding celebration. Make the wedding yours. make it your own, but accept the good Rabbi Silver's advice and then just allow the ceremony to unfold at his direction. You will love every minute of it while its underway and cherish every memory of it.
First and most important: we are still married! Second: friends and family still talk about the wedding and Rabbi Silver glowingly. My sister and I talked about the wedding last week, mentioning Rabbi Silver's wonderful contribution to the event. While the wedding was interfaith, it leaned jewish. Rabbi Silver covered all of the bases required for the Jewish aspect of the wedding while respecting and mildly educating those who were not jewish. He was professional, concise, appropriately entertaining and poignant. His pre-wedding interviews put my wife at ease. His demeanor during the reception when he was not not "on" was friendly and calming. We loved our wedding, cherish the memories and Rabbi Silver played a huge role making the day perfect.
Rabbi Silver did the most amazing job performing my wedding ceremony. Afterwards everyone came up to me complimenting me on his delivery and how nice the ceremony was. I would 100% recommend him again!
Rabbi Barry Silver was an excellent choice. He took the time to get to know my husband and myself and mentioned that information in the ceremony. When we first met him, he was very personable and took an immediate interest in us and asked us questions about how we met, our hobbies, family, ect. The day of the wedding, he arrived prompt and relieved any fears and walked us through how all will be.The ceremony was great as it was the perfect balance of humor and seriousness.
We loved Rabbi Silver. He was serious when it was necessary, but he also brought a sense of humor that was appreciated by all. He was able to incorperate personal info that was provided to him, and was very clever in the ways that he did so. We did not want a very traditional boring service.
Rabbi Silver was a wonderful rabbi. The ceremony was very unique and warm. My guests loved it and so did we.
Rabbi Barry was simply amazing. He incorporated so many personal details about me and my husband and the various things that were/are important to us...from our love of animals, to our careers, to our unique story of how my husband and I met and how it took many years for us to finally be together. He took the time to get to know us to be able to perform and incredibly personalized Jewish ceremony with all of the traditions and customs. With Rabbi Barry, you will NOT get a cookie-cutter ceremony. He also explains the various Jewish customs for those guests who may not understand the significance and makes everyone feel involved and included, even if they are not Jewish. If you look up the word "mensch" in the Yiddish dictionary, you will find Rabbi Barry's photo there. He's the best there is and I'm so glad he was my Rabbi. (He has since gone on to do the Baby Naming for my twin daughters.)
Rabbi Silver was recommended to me by a friend and it was the best recommendation that I have ever received. Our wedding was not traditional and Rabbi Silver helped make the ceremony as fantastic as it was. It was very humorous and is exactly what we wanted. Everyone who attended commented on how awesome he was. I highly recommend him if you want to have fun.
Great job really tied the interfaith into the wedding beautifully. So happy !
Rabbi Barry preformed the ceremony of my son and daughter-in-law, June 11, 2011. I can't begin to explain how happy I was with the ceremony. Rabbi Barry was very sensitive to the extremely diverse group, Jews, Catholics, Whites, Blacks and Hispanics. He was amazing! He explained our traditions in a lovely, caring way. To me and my family Judaism plays an extremely important role. I did realize that it was the kids wedding but as we all do I hoped to have instilled a love of Judaism to my children. The bride does understand the importance of our religion. I wanted her family to feel comfortable too. Rabbi Barry thought of everything from incorporating talking about our "other" family members, the dogs, to the Ketuba and the Motzi. He made my 85 year old, very traditional father feel comfortable and very happy. My Father was in his glory saying the Motzi and cutting the Challah as he does weekly. The Bride's Mother and other relatives, especially her Aunt, thought it was the best ceremony ever!! Her Aunt is ready to convert. I can't say enough wonderful things about the way in which Rabbi Barry performed the ceremony.
we hired and flew 'rabbi' barry out to our wedding and had spoken with him numerous times about what we envisioned for our ceremony. both being spiritual and traditional, we wrote our own vows, wanted something more meaningful and without gaffes or jokes, and to celebrate with a havdalah ceremony. all of this was written down as well as we took time to decscribe ourselves, our hopes for our future and eachother.
barry called us the night he was to arrive and said he had volunteered to give up his seat and would not arrive until the following day - although he indicated he would attend all events to get to know us, our families and friends. oh, and he also mentioned for the first time that he would be bringing his four year old son. he arrived, did not introduce himself to anyone and did not seek out our company or that of our family's or friend's until he tracked down our wedding planner on the day of the wedding to demand a babysitter for his son, AND a place at the wedding reception for him. no children were invited to the wedding but he indicated that if a babysitter was not found for his son, he may not be available to conduct our ceremony. an hour before the wedding. a babysitter was found but we would have been better off if barry remained unavailable for he was unprepared, did not have anything arranged, or recall any of the details discussed and insulted the bride during the ceremony while making wholly inappropriate 'jokes' about why his son was attending: answer - because it is ARI-zona (his son's name is Ari). Or why we had the wedding at the JW Marriott - it is the "Jewish Wedding Marriott." Ridiculous. And then, after the wedding ceremony, he had the chutzpah to demand payment for the babysitter. He is unreal, he was unapologetic and completely offensive. I would not recommend him. We were blindsided. It made for a funny story and people definitely remember the ceremony - but not because of his eloquence, spirituality or professionalism.
My husband and I got married a couple weeks ago in Miami, FL. I've been to a lot of weddings and I'm not saying this because it's my wedding, but the ceremony that he peformed was the best I have ever experienced! He took the time to incorporate personal touches to our ceremony, such as my deceased grandmother's prayer shawl, he referenced our dogs, and he talked about the similarities between Judaism and Christianity. We had a Jewish Wedding but half of our guests were not jewish and did not understand the Jewish traditions. Rabbi Silver explained the wedding traditions and per our guests, they didn't feel lost. Our family and friends really appreciated that. Since our wedding, we have received multiple compliments about Rabbi Silver. I highly recommend him!
