Rabbi Janice Mehring

Rabbi Janice was so amazing to work with. She was unbelievably great in helping us determine what we wanted to include and exclude in our ceremony, and she explained everything so thoroughly. Our families were so impressed with Rabbi Janice's ceremony. She really understood us as a couple and made us feel so special!

Rabbi Janice was incredible! From our first meeting we felt comfortable and at ease with her even though we had never met before. She was easy to work with and helped steer us the right way when we had trouble coming to a conclusion. All of guests raved about her after our wedding ceremony! When it looked like it was going to rain right before our ceremony she quickly pivoted and provided a more succinct version of our ceremony so we didn't get rained out! Our ceremony was a huge success and we're so happy with our decision to use Rabbi Janice. As an added plus she has an incredible singing voice!

We cannot recommend Rabbi Janice highly enough!! Initially we were nervous that planning a long distance wedding during Covid would mean that we ended up with a random "rent-a-rabbi" who didn't know or connect with us as a couple. Our experience was the complete opposite. Rabbi Janice went above and beyond to get to know us by way of several Zooms and calls, and really made sure that we felt supported every step of the way. She took the time to learn about our traditions and our families, and helped us to brainstorm ways to customize the ceremony so that we felt most comfortable. She handled complicated family dynamics with grace and compassion. When we were notified last minute that we were responsible for providing the chuppah canopy, Rabbi Janice had us ship it to her home offering to hand sew the ties for us. She even sent it to the dry cleaners first to make sure there weren't any wrinkles! This may seem like a small task, but amongst the chaos of wedding planning, it was SO greatly appreciated. We received compliments from our wedding guests about how wonderful Rabbi Janice is, as well. She brings a warmth to any room she steps into. We are so grateful for Rabbi Janice and look forward to keeping in touch with her for many years to come!

Rabbi Janice was outstanding in every respect. We have an interfaith marriage, and we wanted a ceremony that honored Jewish traditions without alienating non-Jewish family. She worked through each component of the ceremony with us, making us feel comfortable and adapting it in all the ways we wanted. Rabbi Janice made the ceremony about our relationship, while sharing the concise history of the traditions - including producing modern adaptations of some blessings - without being preachy. Family members on both sides raved about it for days afterwards, some saying it was among the best wedding ceremonies they've attended. Maybe they're just telling us that to make us feel good, but in many weddings the ceremony is the boring part people suffer through to get to the party, and ours felt like it was actually a highlight (in a day of highlights). Rabbi Janice also performed our Ketubah signing. She arrived early, and chatted with our family until we were ready. She explained what we were doing and made the process smooth. We had a small wedding, with only 18 guests, and the whole experience felt very personal. Before the wedding, she offered to be available as much or as little as we wanted in advance.
