My husband and I searched high and low for a venue that could host the majority of our wedding guests on-site from Friday-Sunday. We wanted our wedding to be a reunion and a retrea...
t. We stumbled upon Race Brook and after one visit we were in love- the setting, the staff, the food- it was the perfect amount of relaxation and feeling taken care of. Our guests sat around the fire at night, hiked in the day and ate very well at the Stage Coach Tavern. Friends and family continue to talk about how much fun they had and plan visits for the future. We will certainly make this our go-to escape from city life.
When my husband and I began talking about where we wanted to get married we decided a few things off the bat. We wanted somewhere that provided a beautiful natural setting, a place...
where most of our friends and family could stay, and a venue where we could host an entire weekend-long experience.
With Race Brook Lodge, we got all of that and so much more. I couldn't have imagined every detail coming together as perfectly as it did. Eve and Craig are truly exceptional, they were so instrumental in helping guide us to find the right vendors and the right mix of elements that made our wedding weekend so successful and so perfectly us. They were so helpful every step of the way, always calm and gracious and really knew exactly what worked and what didn't. I can't say enough good things about working with them.
Our friends and family could not stop raving about how it was one of the most fun, unique weddings they had ever been to, and certainly the best food. For us, every detail throughout the weekend made it feel special—Friday night dinner on the porch, the local gypsy jazz band, the florist who brought in trees from the woods to decorate the barn, the morning hike to Race Brook Falls, communal breakfasts in the lodge and certainly the late night campfires.
Getting married by the brook with all of our friends and family was everything we could have ever imagined, and we will forever be so grateful to Race Brook Lodge for all of their hospitality. We couldn't have hoped for a more wonderful place for our wedding weekend.
Over the 9 months we spent planning, we visited Race Brook several times and stayed in a different room each time, each with it's own unique personality and coziness. The dinner at the Stage Coach Tavern was always exceptional, and we loved getting to know Dave and Casey as well as Eve and Craig. We will definitely be staying at Race Brook for years to come.
Our experience at Race Brook Lodge was so extraordinary, I don’t even know how to start this review! We first discovered Race Brook as a cozy b&b on a ski trip to the Berkshires. W...
hen got engaged several years later, Race Brook was our first and obvious choice. What drew us to Race Brook – and something that no other site can offer in the same way – is that all of our family and friends were able to stay together for the entire weekend, enjoying breakfast in the lodge, hikes, swims in the pool, catching up in hammocks by the brook, all in addition to enjoying the wedding events right there on the same grounds.
Race Brook’s atmosphere is best described by the Dutch word gesellig, which conveys coziness, comfort, and a deep sense of belonging. Our guests felt welcome, comfortable, and at home at Race Brook, all of which contributed to the feeling of relaxation, enjoyment, and exuberance at the wedding.
And while Race Brook is authentically rustic (really - it is not cheesy or overly precious), they can also host a really elegant, sophisticated wedding! And they accommodated all our needs with minimum stress on our part. From the beginning of our planning process, it was clear that the event planners Eve and Craig knew exactly what they were doing and were on top of every detail. They had suggestions for local vendors, and knew the ins and outs of executing every one of the plans we had.
Overall, Race Brook is one of the most special places we've ever come across, and we feel lucky to have had our wedding there.
My husband and I would come to Race Brook Lodge lodge to go hiking and to enjoy the beautiful location. We decided to have our wedding here because we loved it so much. We used the...
barn on the property to have both our ceremony and reception. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and accommodating, both during the planning process and at the event. The food was phenomenal. The grounds are beautiful and a great place to take pictures. We had a small wedding and everyone stayed at the Inn. Our families and friends could not stop raving about the wonderful weekend they had. We loved it and I wouldn't change a thing if I could do it all over again. I highly recommend them for a wedding or any other family reunion.
I cannot say enough about how perfect this wedding venue is! My fiance and I were looking for a casual, beautiful, rustic setting with a barn that wasn't too far from NYC or Boston...
. We searched all over the Hudson Valley and could not find anything quite right -- all were either too expensive, or would mean we would have to bring in everything ourselves (even bathrooms). After a quick "Berkshires" google search, we stumbled on Race Brook and quickly booked a visit. We came in the dead of winter and still knew it was exactly what we were looking for. From that first meeting with Eve and her staff to the wedding day 9 months later, they could not have been more accommodating to our needs and requests.
Race Brook worked with us on all aspects of the wedding - logistics, decor, vendors, the welcome dinner, rentals, etc., to make sure we were all on the same page and that all would go smoothly. As in-house caterers, they worked with us to make a menu that suited our dietary tastes. They were professional, organized and enthusiastic when it came to making our wedding day truly special. They were always very up front about costs, any logistical problems they anticipated, and really helped fill in where they saw any gaps in the planning.
Race Brook is very unique in that it has a very casual, B&B vibe, and if you are looking for your guests to make a real weekend out of it, this place is perfect. We had all of our immediate family and friends stay onsite (it was a bit of a game of Tetris trying to fit everyone into all the adorable rooms but it was worth it). This allowed for friends to pitch in and help with last minute tasks, go on hikes, relax in the hammocks, and eat breakfast together. We had a lot of DIY decor and props, and Race Brook was very flexible with us utilizing the beautiful grounds as we liked. We truly made use of the entire site - we had a Pizza-Truck welcome dinner, bonfires both nights, an outdoor wedding ceremony and cocktails, dinner under a tent, dancing in the barn, and a wedding after-party at Race Brook's underground "speakeasy" with leftover wine and cupcakes! The staff was so flexible and helpful with making all of this happen for us!
The venue is definitely for a couple who wants to plan a creative, DIY event, as many vendors have to be brought in. This is not a cookie cutter venue, and would not serve a couple looking for a formal affair. If you are willing to put the work into planning a truly unique, romantic barn wedding in the beautiful Berkshires, this place is for you.
We got married at Race Brook Lodge in October 2013, after a friend recommended it to us. The weather was absolutely perfect and the trees looked so pretty and autumnal. Working wit...
h Eve and Craig to plan the big day was straightforward and they were very flexible, accommodating and knowledgable. They helped us with everything from rentals and ceremony location to bar setup and catering. We had a truly fantastic wedding day and many of our guests commented that it was 'the best wedding they'd ever been to!' Our friends and family flew in from Scotland and other parts of the world, so it was hugely helpful to be able to host everyone in the beautiful accommodation on site. The naturalistic setting is perfect for wedding photographs (as well as hiking!) and overall the venue is informal and relaxed, with lots of unique charm and character. Everything feels very personal and noncommercial, and it is a peaceful getaway for everyone involved. Couldn't recommend it highly enough, we wouldn't change anything about our wedding at Race Brook.
In a wonderful twist of fate, even involving a beautiful black bear, my wife and I both had Race Brook Lodge as a top pick for our wedding BEFORE we even told each other. I had bee...
n there once and my wife found it by googling a few of our favorite things. When we discovered that we both had RBL in mind, we had to take a closer look.
Our trips there to plan our wedding were fun, informative, relaxing, and inspiring. We were able to envision, with RBL, to have the wedding of our dreams- including finding the right catering needs for us. We also found the perfect flower arrangements, and they were able to recommend a solid sound guy, as well as everything else needed.
Our wedding itself was even better than we had imagined. Our friends and family were super impressed with their experience and felt that Race Brook Lodge was the perfect setting and vibe that supported who we are as people.
We highly recommend Race Brook Lodge and all the wonderful people in its community!
Our experience with Race Brook could not have been better! The facilities and grounds are charming with so much character and the staff goes above and beyond your needs. Each room ...
has its own personality. All of our guests were blown away by what a different kind of wedding it was. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with close by Great Barrington and hiking trails right off the property. I can't say enough about how wonderful our wedding weekend was. The staff will ensure that it is stress free!

ire of style, scale, amenities, energy and values. We wanted everyone to be at ease and the palpable feeling of relaxation was quite evident as family and friends arrived, taking in the natural beauty of the grounds. Whether lazing in a hammock, sitting out on the porch, chatting and laughing in the cool evening air, or enjoying a cup of coffee in the cozy lodge, people could not have been more comfortable.
Being able to park, leave the car and have everything in easy walking distance was a bonus benefit and contributed to the chill atmosphere. The facilities provided options to plan both casual and more formal gathering points and we loved the rustic yet air conditioned “barn” for both the ceremony and reception. The food was fantastic, healthy and attractive. The staff was great to work with, helpful and accommodating. We not only left with wonderful memories, we look forward to returning and creating even more.
Knowing nothing of the Berkshires but wanting a space where nature would be the centerpiece of our celebration we were blessed to discover Racebrook Lodge. Indeed “Chintz Free” as ...
advertised, my (now) wife knew almost immediately that the space was exactly what we had envisioned and we were quick to book our dates. Beyond the allure of the rustic wedding aesthetics that abound throughout the space, it was the willingness of the staff to accommodate and execute our vision that really made the experience something words cannot describe (please allow me to try). We don’t live nearby and planning from afar was a challenge but the team at Racebrook gave excellent suggestions for vendors, great guidance for our weekend itinerary and were genuinely invested in making our day memorable and fun. We are truly thankful for their hard work.
The Barn Space
A blank canvas or finished masterpiece depending on your perspective, it’s a space with history that brings the best parts of the outdoors in, while keeping the worst things out. It is a barn with natural light, beautiful views and the best we found in our search. It will linger in your mind long after you visit.
The Property
B&B, Summer Retreat, and Camp all come to mind. Great hiking right from the lodge!
The Service
Unpretentious, thoughtful, and well executed. They make it look it easy, but rest assured they are working hard behind the scenes.
The Food
Good selection of seasonal ingredients, with vegetarian options. The guest compliments began before dinner was over. Local spirits and beer are award winning and worth every penny.
Things to keep in mind.
The place is a labor of love for the owner and the staff. The space is old and full of character, but that’s what makes it so great. It’s a place where people come to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, so while it is tasteful and comfortable, don’t expect a royal affair.
Race Brook Lodge is a beautiful rustic setting in the Berkshires and provided an excellent experience for our wedding this past September. Our guests were happy hiking, lounging in...
hammocks, and just relaxing together in a tranquil space. We had fabulous weather the day before our ceremony, even the day of until an hour before when it started pouring, but this only made the setting more romantic. That's the true test of a wedding venue.
The staff went above and beyond in their attention to detail, recommendations, and coordinating our events for the weekend. Eve is so organized and provides expertise in all areas of wedding know-how. Craig made our events over the weekend of our wedding flow seamlessly. The customer service from all staff is top-notch.
You will need to book all of their rooms both nights of the weekend, but it provided for an incredible family & college reunion combined with our wedding. All of our guests raved about the great experience they had and loved that they could walk from their rooms to our ceremony and reception. We started off the weekend with a bonfire the night before with some wine and s'mores, which let us mingle extra with loved ones so we didn't need to cram it into the few hours you usually have on your wedding day with a rented space.
The food is fantastic - filling and delicious breakfast is provided both mornings and the catering they do for the ceremony is fabulous as well -- it's nice that you don't need to search for a separate caterer as well. One less thing to put on the checklist.
I can't say enough great things about this venue. A perfect, romantic, fun spot to celebrate the best day of your life with your nearest and dearest family and friends.
