It's a sad state of affairs, when you entrust & pay "professional" photographer who's only communication with us over the past year has been vague explanations referencing issues & excuses. Our daughter was born recently Sept. 2015 and the photographer who took her announcement photos felt obliged "to apologize on behalf of the professional photographers out there." Last message from Rachel was a mass email to all the people she's taken money from and not delivered. Subject: up and running after severe computer issues From health to technical...the excuses are endless. I'm of the mindset that we're not the only victims of her poor business practice, her work is good but good luck getting what you paid for within the agreed timeframe provided on contract. Stay away or end up in a similar situation.

n 13 MONTHS. Rachael wont return my phone calls or e-mails and I have no clue when I will receive my photos. Her voicemail box is full so we can't even leave a voicemail anymore. If we do receive communication from her which is extremely rare, it's nothing but excuses and then she goes back to ignoring us.

Once we started to communicate, Rachael was frequently in contact with us about her progress with the photos, delivery, album creation, and access to the photos online. Rachael also communicated with us about the issue with delivery, which I absolutely admire and appreciate - as all of you brides/brides to be know, admitting when we are wrong and addressing it up front in a mature way without excuses is extraordinarily difficult with someone you love, much less in a business relationship. Rachael also made a serious effort to compensate us for our wait; I appreciated the effort but remained a little miffed until we saw all of the pictures - every minute of waiting was worth it. I remembered why it was so important to me that Rachael be our photographer and her photos helped us to remember every awesome second of our wedding day. I think it is also important to tell all you readers that I just saw my family this weekend for our first anniversary, and my mother was absolutely over the moon about Rachael - how helpful Rachael was when making album selection online, how responsive she was to my mom's questions, and how fun she was to work with. As a potential customer reading this review, I would want to know just one thing - should I hire Rachael Hyde for my photography? And despite the issue with delivery, you should know that my answer is an emphatic YES. She and her husband are extraordinarily fun and easy to be around (I was so happy they were there - they fit in perfectly with my friends and family), they willingly addressed the problems that we had, and, most importantly, they took amazing and gorgeous photos. Previous Review Below: ************************************************* I got married in Southern Shores last fall (10/11/12) and Rachael Hyde was our photographer. Her and her husband Sean are great - they were communicative and helpful throughout the entire planning process, and we were so happy to have them as a part of our day. But then... She disappeared. At first I thought that maybe something had happened to her home/business during Hurricane Sandy (she lives and works out of Manteo). Once December 2012 rolled around, my husband and I emailed and called her several times with no response. We finally contacted Nanette with The Proper Setting (she did day-of coordination for us and was a lifesaver), because we thought that Nanette would know what happened to Rachael, if everything was ok, etc., It turned out that nothing happened during the hurricane, Rachael just got really busy. Rachael said she would get the photos to us shortly after Christmas. And then by February. And again by the end of March. And then by yesterday, Sunday, April 14, over six months since we got married. At this point I am just really disappointed - I like Rachael and Sean a lot, I adore her photos, and I am sad that at this point I still don't have my pictures.

She arrived on time and although I wasn't quite ready, she made use of the time checking out the lighting in the house and getting ready. I still don't know how she managed to capture so many perfect split second moments, such as kids suddenly throwing bouquets into the air, but she did. During the actual ceremony I never even realized she was there! She got awesome close ups and she is very artistic. We can't tell you how happy we are with Rachael, and we highly reccommend her!

We spent 4 hours walking around campus shooting, but I never felt on display. Rachael is unobtrusive and makes you feel so comfortable you hardly remember you aren't walking around with a friend. She was especially good at taking note of when we seemed most natural - and repeatedly got shots that captured the essence of who we are. Her black and white stills are amazing, and I was so happy with the results!

t under the arbor of vines that were one of my favorite places on campus. Rachael kept me laughing and feeling natural throughout the shoot. She captured the look I had imagined under the arbor and went on to find so many other beautiful backdrops to my portraits throughout the Arboretum. The night before my wedding, I gave my parents 3 framed sets of pictures from the shoot and they were overwhelmed with how they turned out. Needless to say, my Mom had them on display the next day for all the guests to see. Thank you, Rachael, for making my bridal portrait shoot such a wonderful, fun experience. She captured all the details of the wedding from the classic group shots of the Wedding party down to shots of my hand done place cards. She had a great eye for catching heartwarming candids and setting up striking portraits. The portraits of my husband and I at sunset that she posed are my favorite from the whole day. During the pre-wedding meetings we had she was very sensitive to what I wanted covered during the wedding and what theme and mood I was hoping to create on the wedding day. All in all she was professional, friendly, and ubiquitous. She captured one of the most important days of my life with expertise and heart.
