she wanted to do my wedding anyway! Love her!!! She was a pleasure to talk to and work with, and was so easy-going and fun! We were laughing the entire time! My fiance was so stressed about having a camera stuck in his face the whole day, but it just wasn't like that with Rachel. She somehow managed to capture everything, and yet she never bothered us or stuck out or was distracting. We feel so incredibly lucky to have found her....at the beginning of this wedding journey it was my biggest concern to find a photographer that we loved and understood us. That fear was quickly laid to rest after we met Rachel. Thank you, Rachel, you are amazing!!! We wish you the best!!

one of the only aspects of the whole process that didn't drive me completely nuts. She was so freaking understanding and kind and decent about the whole thing. We ended up pushing our reception to next year and holding a Covid ceremony this year, and Rachel was there for us the whole way through. She took THE MOST amazing photos of our special day and made us feel so loved the entire time. But that's how she is. My husband and I are awkward as hell in front of a camera, but Rachel makes it so that you can never see that. We look like models!! I'm serious!! Literally just hire her. You will never regret it.

We were stuck with an incredibly windy day that caused some photo stress, and Rachel remained calm and worked with the weather and totally calmed the bride down, and even got some very artistic shots with the cathedral length veil billowing magnificently in the breeze.

We also loved the sample photos that she shared with us. Before the wedding, we discussed our vision for the photos and went over the style and visuals we were looking for. From the first phone call with Rachel we knew we were in good hands and that everything would be great! Rachel truly goes above and beyond - even by helping remove hidden pins from my dress! Her work is amazing and we can’t recommend her enough. Starting with the engagement shoot, Rachel makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera and walks you through the poses. We really appreciated all of her help with this as we aren’t the most comfortable in front of the camera and it made the wedding day that much easier! We made about a million different decisions during the entire wedding planning process and I can confidently say Rachel was the best one.

I can't express how much she helped contribute to our beautiful wedding day. the get-go, and was terrific from start to finish. Working with her assistant (and husband) Raul, Rachel was professional all the way, taking note of all the relevant details, setting things up for some of the "classic" pictures she took, corralling people as best she could, and just being present to everyone there. As for the pictures we just received, they're beautiful! -- everything we could have wanted to have memories of that incredible day. We're extremely grateful to her and Raul for their wonderful work!!

Every time I look at these photos I get to go back to my wedding day. I am so thankful to Rachel for doing such an amazing job. The photos Rachel took of my wife and I, as well as our families, are something I will keep and cherish forever. They are photos I will be proud to show my children and grandchildren. Its incredible to think that someone who was in my life for only a day has created a family heirloom.

ong most (price-wise, photography style, ect). Just by email alone, I could already pick up on what type of personality she would have and how it would fit well with ours. Rachel was willing to do a skype interview with my fiance and I to address any questions we had. We are a same-sex couple so it was important to us to have someone who was open minded and respectful of that. While talking with Rachel, she not only made us feel comfortable but it felt more like friends catching up as opposed to a vendor trying to sell themselves on us. Though we still interviewed other photographers after our talk with her, we kind of knew that we wanted to book her immediately. This review is specifically for our engagement session with her (which we decided to add on to our package so that we could use for our save the dates). We love visiting Ogunquit, ME in the summer so we really wanted to do our photos there. Rachel was willing to travel (for a fee already added on to our package) so we settled on an early August session. As we know, in New England the weather could be 80 degrees one day and a blizzard the next. So of course, the day of our scheduled shoot, it not only rained.. it poured. Rachel was flexible enough to help us reschedule to later in the month and we're so happy for it because it turned out to be a beautiful day. Upon our session, we both felt kind of awkward at first. With many people in the area, it felt like a gaggle of eyes just watching us. Rachel was amazing in making us feel comfortable and ignore all of our surroundings. Few minutes into the session we were already laughing and feeling a lot more comfortable. Specifically, my fiance hates taking pictures but Rachel even had him feeling like a star in front of the camera. We got some great shots in different areas of Ogunquit and the whole experience made us look forward to what's to come for our wedding day. We highly recommend adding on an engagement session because it gives you the opportunity to learn Rachel's photography style while figuring out what poses work and don't work for you as a couple. The turn around time for us to get the photos back were about 3 weeks and instead of giving us the standard 15-30 photos most places give, Rachel gave us over 200 photos to choose from. We have gotten tons of compliments on our save the dates and plan on using some of the photos for pre-wedding and wedding festivities. We highly recommend Rachel and are looking forward to working with her again for our big day.

We had such a great time taking our photos and we got so many great "in the moment" photos because of the atmosphere she helped to create. Rachel was not afraid to fight tree branches and get dirty to get the shot! We enjoyed every minute of the process and were blown away with the final results! Rachel takes beautiful photographs and did an amazing job of capturing exactly the vibe and effect we were going for! She was even so awesome as to get me a few sneak peeks within a day so I could have them printed in time for our engagement party! When we first met I brought my parents with me ,and i can still remember when we left how relieved and comfortable we all felt. I can honestly say that one of my favorite parts of our wedding was when we were outside taking pictures with Rachel! The photos that she has shared with us are so beautiful and amazing! She has really captured all of the details and the happiness and emotion of the day! All of my guests, family and bridal party loved her and made sure to tell me that more than once! We took photos in the Boston Public Garden on the same day as like 10 other couples and it was clear we had the best photographer! The moments and details she captured when I wasn’t even paying attention are the one’s I love the most. She captured our personalities so perfectly through our photos in a way that is so authentic and genuine. Nothing about her style is staged, it’s real, candid and fun. Her communication before the big day was phenomenal and she put so much time and effort into making us feel like her one and only client. Rachel wasn’t just our wedding day photographer, she was literally our cheerleader and therapist. She was so attentive and you can tell how much she absolutely loves every moment of her job.

As the bride I love that she made sure I looked my best. Between her and her assistant snapping away I have every moment of my wedding and reception captured. Almost anyone can take a decent picture of people posing but Rachel manages to show personality in hers. She has a way to get people to relax...you almost forget your even getting pictures taken. I’ve been in so many wedding where you just stand there with a forced grin and I’m so happy it was the opposite with Rachel. We smiled because it was fun. Her work is amazing, I love little details captured in photos and candid moments, Rachel was able to capture all of my favorite styles. Plus, she made me look like a model, I mean, who could ask for more! I also hate getting my picture taken and Rachel was really awesome at making me feel comfortable in front of the camera. She made me laugh and my bridal party had fun and felt comfortable the entire wedding day. d I am thrilled that I chose Rachel to photograph my own wedding. It was a casual beach wedding that I had to plan in only a few months and Rachel was super accommodating, understanding and organized from the get-go. She didn't blink an eye when I told her I wasn't doing most of the usual wedding formalities but I can tell from her questions and paperwork that she is on the ball if you are having a formal wedding - she will know where to be when. I cannot tell you how many couples miss their cocktail hours because the photographer is holding them captive taking countless formal portraits. Rachel will not let this happen. Yes portraits are unbelievably important but so is actually being at your party! She will get the pictures of the people you want, just tell her. I wanted mostly candids and I love the ones she took. But my unexpected favorites were the impromptu small group informal photos we took during the cocktail hour. People had consumed a cocktail (but not yet too many!) and were relaxed and enjoying themselves. She knew the beach setting was important to us and she integrated relaxed happy smiling subjects into the gorgeous landscape in those portraits. I love those photos for the people AND the setting. She is really really good at these. She also got many great shots of me and my husband alone on the beach after the ceremony - again she captured the moment and the beach. I really like of the ones she took from a distance which I wouldn't have guessed beforehand. I also love all the detail shots she took throughout the day (dune plants, floral details, decor details, signs at the beach) I made framed prints out of several of them since they are cool photos that we can hang in the house that remind us of the day but aren't obviously wedding photos. Rachel was a pleasure to work with and takes everything in stride. My friends all commented on how much they liked her! She is calm but will get done what you need done - when I spotted a site after the ceremony with my favorite beach rose in bloom she immediately set off with a smile to ask the people sitting there if they would mind moving so we could take a photo. When I was horrified that I dropped my lipstick on my dress seconds after arriving at the reception she immediately told me it was alright don't worry about it, carry on, it won't be in any of the photos. But she knew me well enough to take a photo I absolutely adore of my friend trying to remove the stain with a Tide to go pen as I enjoy a much needed cocktail. On the drive over to the ceremony it was just me and Rachel with my father driving. It was a super short drive UNTIL my dad went the very wrong way making us very late. Rachel's relaxed calming presence and sense of humor made a potentially very stressful ride actually fun - and she even snapped a picture of the sign for the Drive In Theatre where we finally turned around . After the wedding she was there for everything I needed - prints, thank you cards, albums. She even made some custom thank you card collage prints for a few special friends and vendors. Rachel is a lot of fun and knows what she is doing. She will unobtrusively get the shots you want - and more importantly those you didn't know you wanted!

Ideally, this would be a given with photographers, but reading a lot of reviews before I chose Rachel lets me know that this is not the case. I didn’t give her a lot of direction and left her to her own devices -- if you get something from this review other than Rachel Abell is a very talented photographer and phenomenal person to work with, please let it be this: you need to be able to trust your photographer. Really. Putting my faith and trust in Rachel was one of the best decisions I made when planning my wedding. I was impressed with how Rachel scouted out the property and found places that she knew would make good photos, even if they didn’t look “amazing” to me. Rachel is really good at keeping it real -- “Trust me -- it’s going to feel silly to hold your flowers like this, but the picture will look great!” (Truth! It does!) Rachel listens and has discovered the questions to ask to elicit the information she needs. Her “Wedding 411” questionnaire is designed to make sure that the she and the wedding party are communicating as thoroughly and in-depthly as she knows is necessary. I’ll admit, the questionnaire seemed really daunting, especially when I tried to complete it only a few days before the wedding (sorry, Rachel!). But it prompted me to alert Rachel not to photograph certain people together, among some other things. The questionnaire is so thorough that it made me think of the day from her point of view -- what did she need to know about the ceremony so that she could be at the right place at the right time? Now, I do have to admit, I have not had experience with other wedding photographers. It’s possible that they’re mostly a thoughtful, detailed bunch. But I have a feeling that Rachel TRULY stands out from even the cream of the crop. I may not have had previous experience with wedding photographers, but the owners of the location where I got married have hosted many weddings and Rachel’s style really stood out to them. They were impressed with how she stayed out of the way and captured the day -- beautifully! -- but never intrusively. We love, love, love our wedding photos. Rachel captured some precious, tender expressions between my husband and me, he and his children, and among other folks. We couldn’t have dreamed of better, more genuine photos of our wedding day and the people who love us.

PA. To what I only attritube to fate, Rachel is orginially from the Pittsburgh area & would be there during our wedding so she could be our photographer! The day of the wedding she was supportive, fun, & professional. I could not have imagined a better photographer. Most importantly, the photos are goregous. When I look at them, I can feel the emotions from the day. Thank you Rachel, you are wonderful & I'm eternally grateful!! 😍😘
