Book Rachel! She captured our photos during our recent May wedding and was amazing to work with. She is extremely creative and gave excellent direction to get unique photos for us. Rachel was very detailed and thorough throughout the process- she gave a detailed timeline to keep us on track and timely during the big day. She was excellent at organizing the group for photos and made sure she captured all the special shots we requested. Lastly, she took the time out of her personal schedule to scope out the church and venue to determine places for creative photos in advance. She really went above and beyond and with a smile the entire time.

Love Rachel! We had Rachel do our engagement photoshoot to get a sense of how our wedding day photos would turn out and I was immediately impressed with the preview! It took me awhile to find a photographer because I’m so picky but I’m glad we found Rachel! My husband and I are not people who are comfortable with posing but Rachel was great at directing and the photos are so great because it was all natural with us smiling and having a great time! Rachel turn around time was also another thing that I love!

Working with Rachel was a dream! She was attentive, flexible, and clearly had tons of previous experience. My now husband and I decided to move our larger celebration to 2022, but still had a small ceremony in 2021. Rachel was understanding and easy to work with in terms of coordinating details and deposits for both events. She was great with the timeline of the day and helping us stay organized. And let's not forget how AMAZING her work is! Seven months later, we still haven't decided which photos to put on canvases because we love them all so much! Wow! I can't even begin to count the ways Rachel helped make our day special from start to finish. Her photos are beautiful, and speak for themselves, but Rachel as the photographer is what makes working with her on your wedding so special. When looking for a photographer I was told "find someone you like, because they're going to be with you all day, and during your most special moments." Rachel is such a lovely person, clearly knows what she's doing, and jumped right in to captured some absolutely stunning moments. During wedding portraits, she handled all the different personalities and made it so easy and stress free. I hope I get to work with Rachel again in the future, because the photos she took of our wedding day are some of my most cherished possessions.

Wish we could give ten stars!!!! We are super picky photo and video people and we clearly picked the best photographer! Rachel came highly recommended by several people we know, and after speaking with her initially, we knew she was the perfect fit (though her work truly speaks for itself when you look at her amazing portfolio)! Rachel is SO helpful and was able to support us and work with us, as well as come up with some amazingly creative ways to showcase our 250-turned-10-person wedding day due to COVID-19. We did cozy engagement photos at-home, and she helped us have an extra special day when our wedding ceremony ended up having to take place at-home when the world turned upside down. We recently received our wedding photos (literally on the day Rachel promised they would be ready), and we have looked at them no fewer than 100 times. The photos are stunning and we could not be happier. Rachel and her second photographer captured everyone and the wedding so beautifully and so naturally. We did not have a videographer at our wedding so it was extremely important that all our guests were photographed and we had at least one picture of every single person that attended. Aside from being an incredible photographer, Rachel was a dream to work with. She is so kind, positive, friendly and attentive while still maintaining the highest level of professionalism. She instantly made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and brought out our best. She played a pivotal role in the success of our wedding day and we are forever grateful! Photographers are common; anyone can pick up a camera and snap a few shots. Nice photographers might have good equipment, know how to blend into the audience, and capture the moment unobtrusively. But a true artist not only captures the moment but elevates the photography from a snapshot in time to a level of art with a fine level of finesse. Rachel Smith is an artist. Rachel did a phenomenal job from our engagement photos through our day-of. She was super well organized, early to show up, and captured all of the special moments of our big day. She was able to step in and help orchestrate during the day, be a flower surgeon, and made amazing efforts to make our wedding run smoothly. For those considering other photographers, ask yourself, do you want a photographer, or do you want an artist? I guarantee you won't regret going with Rachel.

Rachel was amazing to work with from start to finish! We found her work through the preferred vendor list with our venue. She did a mini session with us so we could get comfortable around the camera and also shot our wedding. On our wedding day, she made us both feel super relaxed by giving us pointers as we posed and ensuring all our photos were shot before the ceremony so we could enjoy time with friends and family during the cocktail hour and reception. We had the most perfect weather that weekend and Rachel captured it so well. We received a preview of the photos a few weeks post wedding – we loved all of them. It’s going to be hard to pick which ones we frame. We are anxiously waiting for the remaining photos to share with friends and family. Thank you Rachel!!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Rachel! From our initial conversation with her we felt completely comfortable, prioritized and excited about working with her. We did our engagement shoot with her as well and she is INCREDIBLE. Our wedding pictures (despite being an incredibly windy day) are absolutely beautiful. She is a dream to work with and the quality of her pictures are amazing. Her assistant was wonderful as well and both were able to work with outdoor, water and sunset pictures (they came out PERFECT). Rachel is more than amazing, she is awesome! . Rachel recently did our engagement photos, our wedding ceremony and our reception. The photos from the engagement session were gorgeous and our wedding day photos even better. Working with Rachel was effortless. We knew we were in great hands throughout the process. In a nutshell, her photography is exquisite and she is a joy to work with. We can't imagine finding anyone better. She is the best!

Rachel is absolutely incredible. She did our engagement shoot and our wedding...I have only seen a preview of our wedding pictures and every single one is amazing! I can't wait to see the rest. She was such a trooper with a somewhat stressful hour after the ceremony of fitting in a ton of family and bridal party pictures. I didn't worry about anything, she honestly makes things so easy. I would highly recommend her...and I agree with what others have written; she's just an all around great person. So, that makes it even nicer :)

Rachel is simply incredible! When I say that she's incredible, I don't mean just as a wedding photographer; Rachel is truly a wonderful person inside and out. A few facts you should consider: 1) Her price is unbeatable for the quality she provides; 2) she sent us all of our wedding photos in approx. 1 month; 3) she was willing to arrange to work with a second photographer in a way that allowed for 10 hours of coverage (with the first two hours covered by one photographer, the middle 6 hours covered by both, and the last two covered by one), this was an unusually inventive way to keep the cost the same, but provide us more coverage than any other photographer we’d found. My husband and I were not particularly easy customers. As two lawyers, we found that we brought many of our work traits into our photography search and planning. During our search phase, we looked at websites, others' Excel spreadsheets, blogs, etc. to find THE perfect photographer. We arranged interviews and reviewed countless portfolios/contracts before we determined that Rachel was the best one for the job. If you find yourself hoping to make a decision based on a thorough search, please rely on ours. We brought our years of research and analysis skills to the task, put in the work, and found the best in the DMV: Rachel. Something we were concerned about was finding a photographer who could not only capture amusing candids, but who could also take endless perfectly centered, frame-worthy portraits. Rachel can do both, and she can do both really well! At the outset, Rachel eased all of our concerns with an engagement shoot. At the shoot, she graciously ran around with us to get shots with as many backgrounds as possible, literally chasing the best lighting in each location. Seeing the engagement photos also gave us the opportunity to talk to Rachel about our likes and dislikes, the poses we liked most, etc. It let us talk to Rachel about what to focus on (or not to) in advance of our wedding day. We felt completely comfortable knowing that we wouldn’t need to worry about Rachel capturing every moment so precisely that we’d be able to live it all again. Leading up to our wedding, this Type A bride decided to send Rachel photos that I’d seen and liked and also lists of “must take” photos. I must admit that I went a little overboard to the point where I sent Rachel multiple lists of probably about 100 must-take photo combinations along with a 12-page itinerary with photo needs spelled out in very detailed categories at precise times. I also found myself emailing her sample photos to use as inspiration up to midnight the night before the wedding! With a quick email from Rachel that I should get to bed for the big day, I once again knew that we’d be in good hands. Rachel seamlessly handled our hefty demands with ease. She reviewed our “must-take” lists before the wedding and worked so hard throughout the day to get every single photo I wanted. Yes, that’s correct, she got them all! She did this while keeping to my timed itinerary to a tee. In fact, her work throughout the day was so exceptional, that we spent most of the day being early! Rather than manage our outrageously high expectations, Rachel took on the challenge and surpassed them. Rachel is deserving of the highest praise and I urge you to give her a chance to capture your wedding dreams in a way that you’ll enjoy reliving forever! We simply cannot to work with her again!

Rachel was our wedding photographer and was an absolute delight to work with. We considered the photography to be one of the most important aspects of our wedding, and put a lot of thought and care into selecting our photographer. Rachel's online portfolio impressed us, and after speaking to her we knew that she would be the perfect fit for our wedding. This was no small decision, as we looked at dozens of photographers before deciding on Rachel. She particularly impressed us with her responsiveness, flexibility, and professionalism--both technically as a photographer and personally as a business owner. Rachel traveled from Baltimore to DC to shoot our engagement photos, which were absolutely stunning. She quickly processed these photos and sent them to us after the shoot. Leading up to our wedding, it was great to know that with Rachel we had nothing to worry about. On the day of our wedding, Rachel and her second shooter Kirsten were incredible. They captured so many amazing moments, and kept us focused and moving through the day despite the inevitable curveballs that popped up. We received highlights within a week or so of the wedding, and the full gallery a little more than a month later. Needless to say, we don't even know what to do with so many amazing photos. As a testament to her skill, one of her photos from our wedding circulated around a few different wedding instagram's and received thousands of "likes"! Pretty cool. Rachel is not only a talented photographer, but just a great person. We consider ourselves lucky to have found her. Having great wedding photos was really important to me and I couldn't be happier with my decision to book Rachel! From the start she was professional, easy-going, and responded to my inquiries in a timely manner. Rachel shot both our engagement photographs and wedding. She was great at directing us with poses and was mindful of the little details (such as hair being out of place, shirts coming un-tucked, etc.). She didn't hesitate when we pulled out our Harry Potter wands for our engagement shoot and even did some research (watching all the HP movies) in preparation for our Harry Potter themed wedding. We loved that Rachel was willing to try anything - including setting off fireworks to get some AMAZING nighttime photos. We got married 07/09/16 and had wedding highlights (around 200 photos) by 07/14/16. Yesterday we received all of our wedding photos and I cannot stop looking at them. We have so many favorite photos and she captured so many great moments from the wedding day. We would hands down pick Rachel again and again!

If you are looking for someone who blends in with the crowd, makes everyone comfortable and captures amazing memorable photos... look NOWHERE else! I was married 5/7/2016 at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. We began planning from a distance and Rachel worked with us trying to Skype and meet on weekends we were in town to get to know us and what we were looking for in photography. She's got an amazing eye for composition and lighting. I saw our highlights from the wedding (YES ALREADY!!) and I feel like our wedding could be featured in a magazine the pictures are that good! We have photos of people dancing (without posing) and then some classically posed photos. Arica did a shoot in the morning with the guys and made them feel at easy and was able to wrangle some real ADD characters. Rachel did everything right and was easy to get in touch with at all times! I can have imagined a better choice and given how good her eye for composition is I have no doubt I will find more uses for her services in the future!!

Rachel is AMAZING! That is the only way to describe her. From the first email exchange, Rachel was responsive and professional. She was more then willing to set up times for phone conversations and face to face meetings, which were both important for me since I live in a different state from where my wedding was held. She had great ideas for both the engagement and wedding pictures and really listed to what my husband and I wanted as well. On the day of the wedding she came a little early and got right down to it, as did the 2nd photographer we had for the day, Arica. Arica met the boys at the hotel and dealt with all their craziness well. They were both flexible and ensured they got all the pictures we had asked them too, and more. Rachel was also very quick to get us a preview of wedding pictures. We cannot stop looking at them!! Do yourself a favor and book Rachel for your wedding!

Rachel Smith Photography was the best decision I had made in regards to my wedding!! I knew I wanted a photographer who had worked at our venue before, so my fiancé and I met with about 5 different photographers before meeting Rachel. Within a couple hours of meeting her, my fiancé and I decided she was the photographer we wanted. The photography package we went was very reasonably priced (especially compared to others we'd seen) and included an engagement photo session, wedding album and 4 8x10 prints. Leading up to the wedding, Rachel was very responsive with the emails and made sure my fiancé and I had some wonderful engagement pictures. On the day of the wedding, she was extremely flexible with timing and made sure she got all of the pictures I had requested. (That was not an easy task with my large family.) Within a couple days of the wedding she sent me a slide show of the wedding pictures. (I was thinking I had to wait a couple months to see the pictures, but the slide show contained 175 pictures and was a fantastic preview of what's to come.) My fiancé, family and I could not be more pleased with Rachel and are looking forward to working with her in the future.

If we could give Rachel a higher score than 5 in each of these categories, we absolutely would! Rachel was our photographer for both our engagement session and our wedding day, and she made us feel so comfortable during both days. During our engagement session, Rachel continually checked in with us to make sure she was capturing shots that were natural for us - "Does that feel comfortable? Is that something you would normally do?" So although we were posing for pictures, we never felt like we were POSING or acting unlike ourselves. She really took the time to get to know us as a couple, and we knew she would be a great fit for our wedding day. On the wedding day, Rachel and her second shooter Arica blended in seamlessly to the day. From the moment they walked in the door, they felt like part of the group getting ready, not like photographers. All of my bridesmaids loved working with her as much as I did. Rachel got all of the "must-have" wedding photos, while also being creative and getting shots that I never would have thought of. She worked quickly to get the perfect shots, so that my new husband and I could enjoy as much as our reception as possible, and not just be taking pictures the whole evening. We had 6 kids involved in the wedding party, which could have been a disaster trying to get photos of all of them, and somehow she managed to get them all in so many shots. We had many guests comment on how both photographers were present but never intrusive during the reception. Apart from Rachel's professionalism, her photos are beyond what I ever could have hoped for. They capture the emotions of everyone who was such an important part of our special day, and we will forever have such amazing memories of the day because of her wonderful work. Each tiny detail of the entire day was captured beautifully, and we can't thank her enough for that. We know who to call the next time we need a photographer!

Rachel is amazing. When I first started planning our wedding, someone told me that the photographer wasn't that important...that anyone could take a good picture. I knew she was wrong but Rachel proved it. I know for a fact that no one else can take pictures like Rachel does. I'd seen her work more than a year before I was even engaged and I decided then and there that she was the only person I wanted to photograph our wedding day. I have gotten so many compliments from everyone I (and my mother, haha!) share our photos with. Not only did she photograph our wedding, but she also did our engagement photos too. I know that with Rachel we got the best photos money could pay for...but without paying a fortune. Rachel is flexible, quick to respond, sensitive, and an absolute genius with the camera. To summarize, there are not enough good words to say about her and her work. Come to think of it...maybe that woman was right. Maybe anyone can take a good picture. But for our wedding day, I wasn't settling for good. I wanted BREATHTAKING. And for my wedding day, I wasn't settling for anyone but Rachel. Thank you Rachel. You mean so much to us, and we will never forget what you gave us. :)

Photos were the most important part of the wedding process for us and Rachel Smith was hands down the best choice for us. She had an array of packages that worked for us, she took our engagement photos and worked out a fair payment plan. As the wedding got closer, she provided an amazing timeline that eased our anxiety. We picked a package that included a 2nd photographer - Teri was awesome and took great pics in the same style of Rachel's that we fell in love with. My parents house is small and even with 9 bridesmaids crammed in the living room, Rachel managed to find amazing quirks about it and took great pics. The tiny details that she found were incredible. She took charge the whole day-in a kind manner- but kept us moving (which is so important on the wedding day). She knew how important nighttime (outside) pics were to us and went out of her way to take them with special equipment. She followed the "must-have" pics on our shot list and captured moments that I dont even remember:) Rachel is a true professional and a joy to work with. I highly recommend her and her work is fabulous. She really knows how to capture detail and small moments. She has an amazing eye. On the business end, she always answers email super fast and she even took time to go over my "day-of" timeline to make sure I didnt miss anything. She truly went above and beyond and I cant thank her enough for doing such a wonderful job. I just received a slide show of highlights from the wedding and cried because she took pictures of things that I never saw and captured moments that I have a fuzzy memory about. It meant so much to us.

We had a very small wedding. Our plan was to have service at church, after that champagne and a cake and then photo session. It was very hard to find a good photographer on a very short time for small wedding plus it was 10.10.10!!!! We were so lucky to find Rachel Smith!!!!! She has a great personality, big smile and understand your expectations immediately. I'm very happy with every picture she took!!!!! They are amazing!!!!! Beautiful memory about the most import day in our lives!!!!! Our guests loved her and they said to us " you will have the best pictures ". One more thing I liked about Rachel is that she was invisible. She took all pictures without being in front of everybody's face like a lot of photographers do. She came earlier and looked around the place, she also talked to our priest about ceremony, because it's different in Russian church. She picked great location for photo session , and she even brought some things to make creative pictures. She is perfect!!!!! I recommend her to every bride who wants her dreams come true in pictures and have no headaches!!!!!

My husband previous employer hired Rachel for there events so even though we got married in Northern Virginia, he convinced me to go to Baltimore to meet with her. I am 100% glad I did! Rachel is great! She is super friendly and easy to get along with. I highly recommend doing an engagement shoot with her too! It helped us get a feel for how she works and allowed us to be more comfortable with her on our wedding day! She was great with my 15 month old niece as our flower girl and our dog as our ring bearer! I asked for an extra photographer and she brought along Brian. He was just as amazing! All we have seen is the slideshow she made for us two weeks after our wedding. She told us to expect the pictures at the two month mark and we are anxiously awaiting them! I have no doubt they will be just as amazing as the few we have already seen! I would highly recommend Rachel Smith Photography.
