Ray is the SWEETEST person ever! Her kind soul, gentle demeanor, positive attitude, and overall vibe made our engagement and wedding magical. Picking a wedding photographer was probably the hardest vendor for me to choose, there are so many great options out there, but Ray’s style caught our eye, and after speaking with her on the phone I knew we had to work with her! She provided multiple location options for our engagement photos and my oh my! she did not disappoint. We chose a short hike to Black Rock Summit, which has a breathtaking view that will always be a special place to us. We even took our friends and family there the Thursday before our wedding! Our engagement photos looked like they were out of a magazine. I received multiple comments that we looked so natural and like we were in an ad, which was a relief considering this was our first time doing a formal photoshoot, and felt very awkward. Ray coached us through it, hyped us up, and put us at ease quickly! On our wedding day, Ray was the pure bliss you need to feel special and loved on such an important day. Her second photographer, Ryan was on the same level. They captured all the special moments, got creative with bridal party shots, and went with the flow of the day. Even though I know we were behind on schedule, they made sure we felt stress-free and had fun while getting the pictures we wanted. They hung out with our bridal party, provided great conversation, and felt like they’d always been part of the group. They were on the dance floor getting the best shots and were overall amazing. Don’t second guess using her as your wedding photographer! She is simply AMAZING!

Ray was literally a ray of sunshine at both my engagement shoot and wedding! During both times it was unusually cold but she was able to keep things light and happy the whole time. There’s definitely no way that we would have been able to get through it without her positive spirit and energy. Even at my wedding people kept coming up to me and saying “your photographer is so awesome.” If you are debating whether or not to book with Ray, please let this be your sign to do it!! Is it weird to feel emotional while writing a review for your photographer? Ray was the best decision we made throughout the wedding process. Period. When we met her we just clicked immediately. We told her the vibe we were going for and why we loved her and it was truly love at first sight. What we loved the most about Ray's photos was not only the style of the photography its self, but the pure joy and comfort on the couples faces and in their poses. I think that's what really sets amazing photographers apart. She was really flexible and was able to put together a custom package to fit our needs which made it possible for us to work together. First, the engagement session. We got married at a summer camp and for our engagement photos, we really wanted to embrace the theme. We were nervous to tell her and when we did, she absolutely flipped. She was so excited, and had so many ideas. She even went to some Charlottesville thrift shops to find us some vintage lanterns as props- like... are you joking? Then, the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day. Ray put us so at ease. Our wedding weekend was SO fun because of Ray. First of all, she's the most amazing hype woman you'll ever meet in your life. She makes you feel so beautiful and so confident- exactly how you want to feel on your special day. During the process she would text me around once a month just to tell me how excited she was for the wedding. I honestly think she made me more excited for the weekend than I could have ever made myself. She believed in our vision and brought it to life in a way we couldn't have imagined. She has such a pure joy in what she does. She was literally running around and dancing all night at our wedding- having the best time and capturing the most amazing moments. All of our friends were obsessed with her, and so we were we. I know we'll keep in touch with Ray now, because she's just such a wonderful soul. She was the first vendor I booked for my wedding and hands down the best decision I made throughout the entire wedding planning process. She did our engagement photos and wedding photos, which I really recommend doing. It will ease all your concerns, because you will have proof that Ray is magic. You can not look bad if Ray is taking your photo, I swear. Her energy hyped you up in a way I can’t even explain. Not only does Ray have an incredible eye and is literally overflowing with talent, she is also a beautiful soul who seamlessly fell into our day. Being a photographer myself I was extremely nervous in trusting someone else with the depiction of our story. I first fell in love with Ray's art for the raw emotion she seemed to capture so effortlessly. Our wedding was an elopement style wedding and I was very drawn to the fact that her work stood out to me as more than just a photographer, but a storyteller in the truest sense of the word. On the day of the wedding we started to realize that the weather was not going to corporate. I was stressed and immediately did what I felt was the safest bet. I came to the sad realization that our original plan of outdoor mountaintop wedding would have to be indoors and I would have to be ok with it. We got soaked on that mountaintop, laughed, cried with happiness and had the time of our lives dancing in the rain under the twinkling lights...and I will forever thank Ray for that. If I could give Ray 10 stars, I would. I was a Covid bride and had two cancelled weddings before we finally got to have our ceremony. Our plans changed quite a bit through 2020 and Ray was flexible, helpful, and communicative throughout the whole process. Not only is she a true professional (punctual, polite, and pleasant), but she is also an artist who takes her craft very seriously. My wedding pictures are absolutely stunning- she really captured the day perfectly. Ray also had a way of making us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. On your wedding day there are, of course, lots of staged shots and sometimes it can feel a little awkward if you aren't used to it. Ray really put us at ease and made everything feel very natural which resulted in great photos. I highly, highly recommend Ray!

My husband and I traveled to Shenandoah, VA for our honeymoon and took photos with Ray Photography Co. and it was simply INCREDIBLE! Ray was the first photographer whose aesthetics caught our eye, and from her email response to our initial inquiry alone, my husband and I knew she was the one. She is personable, professional, responsive, and makes you feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Ray was our engagement and wedding photographer for 2020, and even with all the stress and ambiguity that came with the year, we could feel nothing but happiness and love all around in Ray's presence. There was a lot of rescheduling and adjustments due to COVID, but there was no stress or difficulty in doing so with Ray. She was so flexible and ready for whatever plans we had in mind, and any doubt we had in the changes was washed away with Ray's enthusiasm. We did a sunset photoshoot for our engagement photos and Ray would scramble up and down the mountain peaks to get the best shots. My husband is camera shy and avoids photoshoots at all costs, but Ray got him to loosen up, have him enjoy the session and even got him to look forward to our wedding photoshoots! Our wedding was at a restored estate and Ray captured the people and the vibe so beautifully, the photos look like a staged shoot from a Vogue or Vanity Fair magazine! Where to begin with Ray Photography Co., one of the brightest moments of 2020 for us. While my husband and I originally hired Ray to shoot our 150-person wedding in the Shenandoah Valley in October 2020, our plans obviously changed quite a bit. Ray rolled with the punches in an unprecedented year and helped us reimagine our large wedding into an elopement in Shenandoah National Park. Working with her was a joy - she is a radiant, down to earth being who is as fun to hang out with as she is exceptional at photography. She went out of her way to make our day special - down to the six-pack of local IPA and the bouquet of flowers that she hand-delivered to us from Charlottesville as we didn't have time to go pick up the flowers ourselves. Our sunset elopement session with her was an absolute blast and her photos simply took our breath away. She is an incredibly talented artist - not only an amazing portrait photographer but also a skilled nature photographer. Like many of her other clients, we were originally drawn to her by her ability to seamlessly combine these two types of photography, and our elopement gallery was beyond what we could have hoped for in this regard. Ray is absolutely more than what we could have asked for! My husband and I decided we wanted anniversary pictures while we were on vacation in Virginia so we can capture the gorgeous Fall leaves (because you don’t see any seasons in FL lol). We found Ray on instagram and started planning our photoshoot. Since we were coming from Florida, she was so kind to give her recommendations on where we should shoot and even where we should visit while we were in Virgina through many back-and-forth emails. Day of, it felt like we were close friends and made us feel like models. And then when we got our pictures, our jaws dropped! We had the BEST pictures (and tons of pics) that captured everything we were looking for... orange crisp leaves and magical mountains. My wife and I originally planned on getting married in Spain in June with Ray as our photographer. However when Covid hit, our plans got derailed and we had to figure out Plan B. Needless to say, we were couldn't have asked for a better Plan B with Ray's radiant and positive energy by our side. We opted for a small intimate ceremony with our immediate family at a local cidery and live streamed our wedding on YouTube for our guests to tune it. On top of that, Ray was so thoughtful by incorporating Spanish influences in our Virginia celebration such as colorful smoke bombs to represent to beautiful Spanish cliffs where our ceremony was to be held. If I could have Ray around me at all times, that would just be great. Her energy is amazing and she just has a way about her that puts you right at ease. Her positivity and and passion for what she does shows and I feel so blessed that we had the opportunity to have her shoot both our engagement photos and our wedding. Our photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Our original wedding date was in May, but when COVID hit, our plans just like many other couples were up in the air. My husband and I got engaged back in December in 2018. We purposely waited for two years before getting married in order to have enough time to plan our perfect day. Then COVID-19 hit and all of our plans were turned upside down. One of the best joys that I had through the entire experience however was having Rachel take our photos. My husband and I have never had professional photos taken until we worked with Rachel. She made us feel comfortable and felt like we were floating on cloud nine during the entire process. There are not enough positive adjectives in the world to describe my experience with Ray. Like so many others my original wedding plans changed due to COVID, and I cannot stress enough that my last minute, smaller ceremony would NOT have happened without Ray. She went so above and beyond anything I could have expected from her. She called and scoped out ceremony locations, had so many alternative ideas when our fallbacks fell through, and kept me sane through the entire process. Her incredible photography speaks for itself (I mean seriously...it's incredible) but the real benefit of hiring Ray is her stunningly positive and helpful attitude. I felt like we were fast friends and she was just another member of the bridal party who happened to take fantastic photos. Best part is now i get to work with her TWICE at our full sized ceremony next year. Best wedding decision I made by a mile <3

There are honestly not enough words to describe how incredible Ray is! She is an absolute DREAM to work with and we could not be more grateful that she is our photographer. She is the most positive, loving spirit we've ever met and makes you feel so incredibly comfortable in front of the camera. Her talent shines through in her work and she goes above and beyond for her couples. We had a small legal ceremony this year due to the pandemic and she made it feel more magical than we could have ever imagined. She showed up hours early to our venue to scope out photo opportunities outside, found the most beautiful shots throughout (in a dark cave no less!) and did it all with the most energetic and genuine attitude that was noticed by all. She captured our happiness and love in a way that we never could have imagined and when we got our photos back from her, our jaws were literally on the ground. Ray has been an absolute joy to work with. As our wedding plan changed (over and over again) with Covid, Ray was enthusiastic and helpful giving suggestions as our plan switched and being so incredibly supportive every step of the way. We didn’t meet face to face until the wedding day but the moment she walked in the door it felt like seeing an old friend. Ray captured every moment in a fun and genuine way. She helped move the day forward organically while interacting with our guests like a member of the family. Ray captures joy, love, and movement is a way that can only be described as magical. Her photography is absolutely stunning. A person has never been so aptly named; Ray is truly a Ray of sunshine.

I cannot say enough good things about Ray! I was feeling so anxious wedding morning but when she arrived and started taking pictures I felt at ease! Her fun and positive personality set the mood for our entire day! She worked very efficiently and it was obvious she is an expert at what she does! She constantly had my husband and I laughing and we had so much fun working with her. All of my family/friends who interacted with her loved her! I am sure that our day wouldn’t have been as fun if we didn’t hire her. I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly than I would recommend Ray! She was wonderful!

I don't even know where to start. Ray is UNREAL!!! She did my engagement photos where we drove out to a beautiful meadow at sunset. She did my bridal portraits on the side of a literal mountain. Then she was with me all day and night capturing my most favorite day ever! ALL my photos were absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Ray is not only an amazing photographer, she is your friend, your encourager, the biggest hype woman, and will definitely have your back on whatever you need/want on your wedding day! Ray is simply the best! All the compliments in the world wouldn't accurately reflect her talent -- she's truly that amazing! As my husband said so perfectly, "When you hire Ray you get an amazing photographer, a stellar wedding planner, a playlist master, and a wonderful friend all in one!" I found Ray's Instagram account and was immediately taken with the way that she captures the candid and organic nature of love in such a tender and breathtaking way. We initially hired Ray to capture our engagement photos and large Virginia wedding ceremony later in the year. We were both so nervous for our engagement photos because we're not 'naturals' in front of the camera, but Ray had us completely at ease and made the entire process exceptionally fun -- plus, Ray encouraged an adventurous photoshoot that had us climbing on waterlogged tree trunks floating in the waterway and frolicking through overgrown trails -- our version of a seriously awesome time! When the global pandemic forced us to change our wedding day plans and opt for a small, destination-style 'elopement' in Maine, part of my heart broke because of the fact that Ray wouldn't be there to capture the day. But of course, as soon as I told her the change of plans she assured me she would be there with us in Maine, never even skipping a beat! Ray took over the new plans on an extremely short timeframe and made it the easiest, most stress-free planning process for my husband and I. Ray and our caterer, Annalisa from Edible Elements, worked together to create a vision for the day that I would have a hard time dreaming up in my head -- it was that perfectly magical! Ray arrived early and stayed late to ensure the day was a complete fairytale, and I cannot express how valuable it is to have someone you can completely rely on as part of your wedding team -- I owe her a debt of gratitude for that alone! Not only is she magnificent at her craft, she is simply a wonderful person and someone I now consider my friend. Her kindhearted, warm, energetic nature makes it feel like you're just hanging out with family the entire time you're with her, which was so important for the small (only 17 people!), intimate, loving, Maine celebration we had! Ray - thank you x1000000! You are so incredibly awesome!!!!

OMG! Can not even say enough amazing things about Ray! Hire her! Right now! You will not regret it! She is the most amazing photographer and magical soul. Her light and happiness will make every second you spend with her just the most wonderful time. I wish I could bottle up her positive spirit and carry it around with me. Ray is incredible. I looked and looked for photographers— but I knew the second I saw Ray’s work, she was it. Even though we ended up canceling our original wedding plans due to COVID, Ray helped us come up with the BEST plan B: eloping on a beautiful mountaintop during sunset. It was perfect and we are so happy. Ray’s enthusiasm and excitement made us feel amazing every step of the way. My husband hates having his picture taken, and asked if we could do it all over again. I don't even know where to begin with how absolutely wonderful Ray is as both a photographer and a person. Our wedding celebration was postponed due to Covid-19, and we decided that we still wanted to get married and do something a little bit different. We reached out to Ray to ask if she would be interested in doing a "day after" wedding shoot with us during a sunrise hike. She immediately responded and was so enthusiastic. She helped us plan out the day and was so positive and excited throughout the entire process. On the day of our shoot, she joined us to hike 8 miles at 3am in order to capture our special moment. She was so fun to be around and made us feel completely at ease. Once we began our shoot, she was amazing- artistic in her shots, knowledgeable about lighting and angles, and so encouraging during that cold, windy morning. We had so much fun and she made it an absolutely unforgettable experience. When we received our photos, our jaws hit the floor (as well as the jaws of every other person we have shown them to). They are absolutely stunning. Ray is magical; her photography skills are top-notch, her positivity is contagious, and she is a light to be around. Nothing but amazingly positive vibes working with Ray! From the moment we discovered Ray I knew that our search for a wedding photographer was over. Her kind and infectious personality immediately sold us - my fiancé and I had never taken professional photos together before, so were equally nervous and in search of a photographer who would put us at ease both at our engagement session and on our wedding day. Her stunning portfolio is a testament to how skilled she is in capturing genuine moments with her couples. Ray was FABULOUS. We first met Ray for our engagement photos on a winder day in Charlottesville. After taking some cozy photos in our Airbnb, we headed to the mountains. Despite the road being iced over, she made sure the hike up the mountain on foot and photo session was fun and natural. As a couple not so comfortable in front of the camera, she did everything to make us forget our fears and delivered gorgeous photos. She also worked with us to make sure our beloved pup was included for both our engagement and wedding photos. 10/10 would recommend Ray to capture your special day. We'll cherish these photos forever and look forward to using Ray for future life milestones.
