What we loved most was how easy he made everything feel. He transitioned seamlessly from the ceremony into cocktail hour, and even with the on-and-off rain, he was incredibly patient, flexible, and never missed a beat.
R.D. was also so open to the wide variety of music we wanted. He let us have some fun with unexpected song choices during the ceremony, which made those moments feel even more personal and uniquely ours.

A virtuoso fingerstyle guitarist and accomplished composer, R.D. King brings over fifteen years of professional performance experience to hundreds of weddings and private events. His music creates a warm, romantic atmosphere—perfect for walking down the aisle, setting the tone during cocktail hour, or adding a refined backdrop to dinner receptions.
Classically trained and a graduate of Ithaca College’s School of Music, King is also an associate lecturer at UMass Boston. I'm a Candyrat Records Artist, a TEDx Cambridge performer, winner of the 2017 Canadian Guitar Festival’s International Fingerstyle Competition, and winner of the 2018 Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase (Instrumental Category). I've opened for Grammy-nominated Ari Hest, Andy McKee, and many others.
Music changed my life and it's my hope to inspire others in their own lives too. I have 3 albums of original acoustic guitar music available on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you find music! I live in Boston where I perform, teach, and explore the evolution of consciousness through sound.

ween hiring a quartet, which was expensive and not entirely within the vibe of the wedding before we saw R.D. King's page. We opted to have him play during our cocktail hour, the walk-ups in the ceremony (we have a few songs that we paid for custom arrangements for) and we had him arrange songs for the first dances. You'd think we had practice the ceremony with R.D. King beforehand with how smooth and beautiful it was. I was also really impressed with his responsiveness and the demo's he provided us leading to the actual wedding day. I think one of the arrangements (I think it was the first dances) was something he hadn't done before, so y'all are welcome because it went excellently. Highly recommend him!

ion of our song, First Day of My Life, for our last dance (like a first dance, but alone at the end of the night). I contacted R.D about this, and he was enthusiastic as he also loved the song. I am not musically inclined, so my request was basically "can you make this slow enough for a slow dance?" R.D was able to take that vague direction and create a great arrangement. It wasn't quite what was in my head, so I made another vague edit request. R.D nailed it, and I literally jumped up and down with joy because it was EXACTLY what I wanted. This act of generosity and work ethic would alone merit a 5 star rating, but he also perfectly arranged the music my wife and I wanted for our ceremony. He provided preliminary meetings to discuss arrangements and styles, then sent over a brief sample, months before our wedding date, just to be sure he had captured the right sound and feel for our wedding. And it was perfect! Could not recommend him enough! If you are unsure what kind of music accompaniment you would like for your wedding, stick with R.D. King, as you will not be disappointed!

who we would hire for the music during our ceremony as well as the reception dinner following. Russell was very prompt in answering all of my inquires and encouraged us to set up a phone call so we could get to know him better and so he could get to know what we were looking for before we even officially booked him. From that first phone call, we learned what to expect and what was included in his pricing and he gave us his honest feedback on how we had planned to have the evening flow.
He arrived in a nice suit well in advance to set up, make sure everything was working properly and tune up. He handled the last minute changes due to the pouring rain in stride with little to no direction from us, as we were occupied with other day of activities. We chose all of the music we wanted him to play and even requested that he learn a few special songs, which he executed flawlessly. He even politely and professionally handled settling a disgruntled mother who was requesting a song be played from her phone that was not on our list.
I felt very confident in choosing Russell from the start. He is very self sufficient and it is very obvious how much pride he takes in his work and how experienced he is. We got multiple comments on his skill and his ability to play such a wide range of music.
