My wedding ceremony was held here this past weekend and venue exuded charm with its picturesque surroundings. The staff's attention to detail and seamless coordination added to the magical atmosphere. The overall experience was delightful, leaving our families with beautiful memories of our special day. Tawnya and her staff are incredibly friendly, communicative, and made the afternoon flow seamlessly. I was especially appreciative of her staff taking the time out to walk us through our wedding rehearsal and giving us helpful tips for our big day.

The staff was very professional, and the venue was everything we were looking for, all at an affordable price. Tawyna and Myra were so easy to work with and friendly. Highly recommended.

This is a long overdue review. My wife and I got married last year at Rec Park 18. Tawnya was very helpful in getting ready for our big day. We liked the fact that we could have our ceremony and reception at the same place. It made it more convenient for our guests. We opted in for the buffet option. We took advantage of our complimentary tasting and commented on the adjustments. On the day if, we feel that all the adjustments we asked for was spot on. Our guests enjoyed the food so much and we’re told by the staff that there was no left over. The cornbread was a great addition to complement the marinated tri-tip and filet of salmon with seasonal vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Our package included our cake from Torrance Bakery and will recommence to go there for the tasting.

Recreation Park 18 truly made our wedding day feel special and my husband and I are so thankful for Recreation Park 18 and their staff. Working with Tawnya was super easy and she was so helpful. My wedding day went perfect and if there were issues, I didn't know it (probably thanks to Tawnya and my wedding planner). The food was DELICIOUS. I have a friend that's a very harsh food critic and he said the food was bomb ( I ordered the pasta buffet). The staff was on point with service. Recreation Park 18 also has some great deals. For example, they gave 50 dollars off borrowing a donut wall when we went to an promotion event. I would 100% do my wedding at Recreation Park 18 again.

We booked Rec Park 18 for our wedding reception in April. We found this location through our wedding coordinator after booking St. Bartholomew Catholic Church for our wedding ceremony. We were so happy to have found a reception venue just five minutes away - it was a huge selling point for us. After going over the package options, we were set! We loved that it was all inclusive including the bar package - another huge selling point for us. From there, it was so easy to start the planning and designing process. We had a pretty simple and classic vision in mind but Tawnya helped us make it come to life. Talk about an amazingly talented and super sweet human! She was so patient with us and made suggestions that made our vision that much better. The serving staff was incredible and friendly. Our cups were always full and they made sure we were well fed! It was super windy on our wedding day, but that didn't stop the staff from making sure every candle was lit and the place cards were perfectly secure. Aside from the disappointment we experienced with the bartender, we are extremely happy with the reception venue, Tawnya and the other amazing staff at Rec Park!

Best venue and team ever! And we’re not just saying that! After scouting a few venues, we settled for RecPark. Besides their elegant venue, Tawnya, the Manager, is fantastic! She has in-depth knowledge of weddings, their venue, their amazing packages and offerings, works with you to achieve your wedding day dream vision within your budget. Moreover, they had a great list of preferred vendors to work with that we worked with. They accommodated our requests graciously especially because we had family and friends coming from overseas. Needless to say, that our wedding came out beautifully and tastefully! Mayra, the F&B Director, and the RecPark team were amazing and gave us and our guests an amazing customer experience. My husband and I were like VIP guests at our own wedding. We had fun and really enjoyed our special day as we celebrated with family and friends! We highly recommend RecPark and would be back to do our other future events as they do more than just weddings!

Incredible. Truly amazing. I search for 9 months for a venue and finally found my dream venue. You always worry about how a venue will treat your event but truly, they surpassed all my expectations. I truly came so I’ll prepared for my event and their entire team stepped in exactly where they needed to and made my dream wedding come true. It was just incredible. Maya and Tawnya are dream makers and I am forever grateful for the event they were able to do for my wedding. Their reception room I turned into my ceremony and i loved it! And the garden area was the most beautiful “under the stars” reception. Everything was perfect and it was all due to their incredible staff who made it happen. I’ll never forget this night. So glad I got to share this place with my mom and dad. My parents got married here 20+ years ago and my husband and I got to share this special place with them. Tawnya was amazing and helped with everything! The ceremony was amazing the grass was freshly cut and beautiful new flowers were planted! Tawnya and the team at Recreation Park 18 were able to help give us the wedding of our dreams. The night really felt like a dream come true and we felt like royalty. The venue is truly stunning and the staff was amazing. The staff truly puts the cater in catering service. They catered to our every need and always made sure we had anything we needed. The outside bar ended up being ideal as it created an outdoor lounge for people to be able to hang out and chat. The bartender received many praises from my friends and family about his service and his skills. Chef of course blew everyone out of the water with his food and sauces. We had several people ask me what catering service we used because they were so impressed with his dishes. We will be forever grateful for tawnya's help along the way. Her knowledge and passion made throwing a wedding not seem so scary. We knew from our first encounter that she would take care of us and was committed to ensuring we had the best wedding possible.

I wanted to write a thorough review so I used the rating categories as a jumping off point. Backstory: I am Nigerian American and my husband is just American. A big goal for the day was to incorporate traditional Nigerian wedding elements with American (specifically African American) culture. Professionalism: The quality of this venue and event staff can not be overstated. From planning to execution it was clear that these people were knowledgeable about planning a complex event. When we had narrowed down venues and we’re on the fence, they even made the effort to give us a Covid compliant tour of the grounds to assuage any doubts we had that the venue was for us. Furthermore, on the day of the wedding itself, the catering staff were so efficient at setting up and running the event. For example, during cocktail hour, waitstaff had the foresight to bring appetizers over to the garden where photos were being taken so no friend or family member went without food. Responsiveness: We began planning our wedding in August 2020 in the thick of the pandemic. At the time the main event staff was laid off and they had a skeleton crew managing multiple venues. Even with a limited staff, my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. Once things began opening up and it was clear that we would be able to hold our wedding as planned, we were put in contact with Tawnya. Unbeknownst to us at the time, the venue was still working with limited staffing. We were not able to tell at all because Tawnya was responding to us in such a timely manner and would make time in her busy day to speak with us whenever we popped by the venue. Quality/ Value: The value received is far and beyond worth the price. Starting with the location itself. Having a separate ceremony and reception space was essential to our plan. Not only does Rec Park have the large garden area (with very aesthetically pleasing grassy backgrounds and market lights), they also have a grand ballroom and patio for cocktail hour. That is three distinct locations all close enough for our elderly guests to get around on this course. We used their outside catering package because we wanted to have traditional Nigerian food at our wedding. However, that package included so much like our dessert table and delicious cocktail hour refreshments of our choice. All linens were provided in our color of choice, we had waitstaff assist at our buffet, water and lemonade stand and more. We also opted to upgrade to the five hour full bar package. This package was a huge hit with our guests at an amazing value. Flexibility: This is one of their biggest selling points. Planning a wedding during Covid with everyone changing restrictions was incredibly nerve racking, but the venue’s flexibility and willingness to work with us made it a lot better. Conclusion: Book here!!! Everyone is incredibly kind and competent at their job, the packages they have are an amazing value, the venue is gorgeous, and most importantly all of the positive qualities come together to make for a beautiful wedding that you will never forget.

We chose this venue because it was local and has a beautiful outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour area, and spacious reception room! It also has a gorgeous bridal suite (rare to find all in one place). Plus they had a great package deal! Tawnya and Julian responded to every question I had right away and helped me out so much through out the process of my wedding! Tawnya was there the day of and made me feel so calm, comfortable, and excited and helped organize so much for me especially the ceremony! The food was great and their staff for the night was incredible and so kind! Highly recommend this place for your wedding!

We looked at over 10 venues before choosing Recreation Park 18 Golf Course. Once we saw it we knew it had everything we wanted! We had our wedding ceremony & reception here on 10/12/19. The planning process with Juliann was fairly simple & everything came together perfectly. We even had some special requests that she accommodated. They have group tastings so you can sample different menu choices. We received a lot of praise after the wedding for how great the food was. We also did late night snacks that were delicious as well. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The outside ceremony at the gazebo was very pretty & perfect for photos. The cocktail hour area is a very cute patio with lights strung across, just enough space for our guests to mingle & enjoy the bar/appetizers. The reception room has a beautiful high ceiling with barn style wooden beams which went great with our rustic wedding. Good sized dance floor & fireplace right by where we had our sweetheart table. There was a small grooms room for the guys to get dressed & hang out. Upstairs they have a bridal suite that is gorgeous with big mirrors, couch/chairs & a private restroom. We are very happy that we chose Rec Park for our big day, everything really did turn out beautiful! I feel like it’s a hidden gem in Long Beach & I’m surprised that we haven’t had any of our friends or family use this venue before. We would definitely recommend it to any couples looking for a great local venue.

My wife and I planned on this location since Juliann and Vanessa have become well-acquainted with us. We were not disappointed. Recreation Park event space is just lovely; beautiful, historied and gracious. The event planners are caring, innovative and fun. The food is fabulous. Our guests and we could not have had a more perfect time.

Recreation Park 18 was the perfect venue for our wedding. We hosted our ceremony and the reception here. Juliann was beyond helpful for the entire planning process and she always responded promptly to any emails and phone calls. I felt that Rec Park really took a lot of stress out of the wedding planning process. This venue has wedding packages that I personally thought were well priced compared to other venues I had looked at. Everything was just so easy here and the staff were all amazing and professional. On the big day, I felt at ease. Juliann and the team coordinated seamlessly with my vendors (all of my vendors were chosen from their preferred vendors list and all were amazing: Vox DJS, Pesiri Photo, Great Officiants, and Torrence Bakery). I highly reccomend Recreation Park for your wedding. This is a beautiful venue inside and outside. the service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and everything ran smoothly and according to plan! This was a gorgeous venue, we got married outside and had our reception in the amazing historic building that is on the property. The staff here was supportive, accommodating, overall they gave us the best experience we could of ever asked for. We highly recommend using this vendor as a wedding location!

My husband and I checked out many venues in and around our area for our big wedding event. We knew that we INSTANTLY loved Recreation Park 18 Golf Course for their gorgeous gazebo out in the garden and picturesque views on the lush green golf course surrounded by palm trees... not to mention the rustic, vintage feel of the reception hall. Additionally, no other venue came close to their pricing and amenities! In the end, we picked Rec Park for our event and we were SO glad we did! Juliann and Tawnya were so helpful and made it all so easy. Not to mention, the vendors that we selected off their recommended list also were absolutely amazing! Everything was perfect and it was the BEST day ever! I have since recommended Recreation Park 18 Golf Course to a few friends for their weddings. Thank you to the team! You are the best!

Beautiful wedding in a beautiful setting Juliann, Tawnya, and the entire team at Recreation Park 18 were amazing to work with. My initial phone call to Juliann was met with enthusiasm for the potential to work together and immediate interest in my concerns, questions, and who my husband and I are as a couple. Every detail was considered and it was clear from the start that our wedding was going to reflect us and not a package provided by the venue. Our wedding was perfect because Juliann, Tawnya and their team helped to make it -our- perfect day! During the planning process, we were also invited to the venue for wedding shows and for food tasting. Having these two events available during our wedding planning allowed us to see what the venue could look like and how we wanted to decorate it and use the space on the big day. I was confident every step of the planning process that every detail would be looked after and we all would have a wonderful time.

Excellent place to have a wedding. The event coordinator, Juliann, is amazing to work with- she met with us multiple times before the event and was able to accommodate a few special requests that we had. The space itself is gorgeous- outdoor ceremony area at a gazebo with beautiful flowers, outdoor patio area with lights and green wall to create some privacy, and the reception room has a fireplace, exposed wooden beams, chandeliers, and tapestry- very minimal additional decoration needed for a simple wedding. The food on site was also top notch- our guests kept commenting on how good the food was and we definitely felt that way as well! The entire experience from start to finish was incredible and Rec Park 18 helped make it so special!

Recreation Park was so helpful and one of the best finds of my wedding planning process. It was one of the most affordable and customizable venues I found in my wedding research, and their partnering with bakeries and their in-house catering makes everything ten times easier. I asked Juliann and Vanessa so many questions in the wedding process and they always helped me and answered me promptly. The group tasting was fun and helpful as well. Also if you get the chance, go to the wedding shows they host throughout the year! I found a lot of vendors through them as well, and was able to get a better feel for the location as well. There's so much to say about Rec Park I don't even know where to start. Juliann and Vanessa are so helpful in making it easy when planning my wedding. Communication to and from them was prompt and concise. The reason we picked Rec Park was because they took care of everything from ceremony to reception, food and alcohol. We could have the wedding of our dreams and remain within our $20k budget. I would HIGHLY recommend Rec Park to any bride looking for an intimate outdoor ceremony.

This venue is everything. The private event coordinator and her assistant were super easy to reach eventhough I’d send them emails at dawn most times. Very friendly and helpful staff, they walk you through everything and can provide vendors too. On the day of the wedding the only thing that had some miscommunication was during dinner it had a little delay but all in all it was the perfect place for my wedding, great packages to choose from with reasonable pricing.

The ceremony site at Recreation Park is hands down the most beautiful site of all the different venues we viewed in the Long Beach area. It was the most intimate and breathtaking! The Cocktail Hour area was one of a kind and romantic... guests absolutely loved the twinkle lights on the patio. The reception was classic... the wood beams with the beautiful draping needed no extra dressing up. It was easy for my fiance and I to imagine our wedding here! Juliann and Nalysia were PERFECT and made sure that our vision was translated to our actual wedding day! They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and calm all throughout the planning process. I can't say enough about how exceptional my wedding was!

I LOVED everything about this venue! I got married here on 8/27/17 and I cant imagine being married anywhere else. Starting off with the bridal suite, how amazing is that! My girlfriends and I had wine enjoyed ourselves all while getting ready for my big day. Moving onto the gazebo, I held my ceremony there and could have not envisioned it any other way. Gazebo was surrounded by beautiful flowers and there was some sort of bushes surrounding the area creating walls, so the privacy was a major plus for me. Now, the ballroom is completely stunning! The wood detailing and the chandeliers, it has the perfect rustic/romantic feel to it which was what I was looking for. As far as a venue its beautiful all on its own without any of my praises but customer service is where it counts. Juliann & Nalysia went above and beyond to answer any of my questions/concerns, they were diligent. They made my wedding planning and wedding day run smoothly, I would have never thought it would be as easy as it was. I recommend this venue and these girls to everyone! My guest, one month after my wedding, keep talking about the food, the service, and the venue itself!

We had our ceremony and Reception at Recreation Golf course and LOVED it. We knew we wanted to get married in our home city so and this was the first place we looked and it was conveniently the closest to our home. We had the best experience from day one. When we first arrived to check out this venue I was really impressed by the beautiful Gazebo where we would have our ceremony, Once we walked around more and saw the cocktail hour area and Ballroom we fell in love with this place. It was gorgeous, had a vintage feel that we loved but was not over the top, which is not our style. It felt just right for us. The bridal suite was a HUGE plus to why we booked here as well. A few months after we booked the event director we booked with left and Juliann Harkness filled the position. I must give by biggest compliments and thanks yous to her for getting all of our wedding details organized. She did this with such ease and was so pleasant to work with.Our wedding day went on with one hitch!!! It was the perfect day that we all hope for. I mean to feel like planning a wedding wasn't very stressful is the biggest compliment to everyone. The food was great and we got many compliments on the service of the bartender. I wish we could do all over again!

After searching more than 10 venues for our wedding, my wife and I found Recreation Park. Immediately we fell in love. The wedding site is right out of a bridal magazine and the reception site is gorgeous as well. Almost every guest came up to us during the wedding and complimented us on how beautiful the wedding and reception were. They had no idea that my wife and I were working on a shoe string budget. I could not believe how great the food was. The head Chef Tamika put together a BBQ buffet that was out of this world. My cousin wants to have his wedding there now just because of the food. There are tons of beautiful wedding venues out there, what really makes the wedding is a staff that can make the event beautiful and hassle free. As soon as we met Juliann, we knew we were in good hands. She has this ability to put my wife's nerves at ease and explain everything thoroughly. She never once got frustrated working with our tight budget and did everything she could to give my wife the wedding of her dreams. She went above and beyond and we will never forget that. If you are wondering where to have your wedding, look no further. Amazing night, hassle free, budget friendly and memories that will last a lifetime. My son was married at this venue just last weekend and everything was just beautiful. Julianne worked with us on everything and we were thrilled with all of her attentiveness. The outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The yard where it was held was perfect, neat, well gardened. My son and his bride wanted BBQ, so they had a buffet of Tri Tip, Pulled Pork, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and salad. The food was outstanding!!! I had so many people come up to me and ask where we got the food from. I even have one nephew say he wants his next year's wedding there just because of the food. I highly recommend Long Beach Big Rec Golf course for you wedding.

The reason I picked this venue from the start was because of their communication! Right off the bat they responded to my initial email within 24hrs. With more than 3/4 of my questions leaning in my favor I had to schedule an appointment to meet in person! When I meet with the event manger she was friendly, kind, easy to talk to and did not push the venue down my throat like many other venues I had looked at. Needless to say, it fit like a glove! We booked the space!! Throughout the planning process, Recreation Park was always there to ask our questions in a timely manner and work with my vision to make it a reality! I highly recommend checking this place out, its a great bang for your buck!!!

My fiance and I pretty much looked at every venue in Southern California. Most were beautiful but WAY over priced and not remotely worth the cost. We were getting very discouraged when we stumbled upon Recreation Park Golf Course. As soon as we walked in, we got really great vibes and just knew this was the place. Then we went over pricing and almost fell out of our seats, it was so cheap! It seemed to good to be true but it was indeed true! It was half the cost of the next cheapest place we had looked and much more beautiful and for filet mignon NOT chicken. We couldn't have been happier with the coordinator's customer service, the venue service, the food was delicious (we ended up having prime rib), the recommended vendors were fabulous, we could not have been happier. By far the best deal, for the best food, service and location.

I used this location for my wedding ceremony and reception. My entire day was amazing from the time my bridal party and I arrived to the dridal suite, to the time I said "I Do", to my first dance, until we left the reception. Wedding planner was also amazing. Shelby contacted me frequently to ensure everything was going as planned. I love this location, and look to using it in the future.

For our wedding we used the gazebo. Katelyn was very helpful and supportive during the rehearsal and wedding. The grounds were beautiful and clean. The grass was green and had flowers surrounding the gazebo. The cement walkway was nice because I didn't have to stand (sink) in the grass. The place is beautiful.

Such an amazing experience at this venue. Kaitlyn, the event planner, was amazing and worked hard to meet all of our wishes, while sticking to our budget!

DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS VENUE!!!! IT HAS SO MUCH ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF!! This venue was perfect for us! We loved the gazebo and beautiful garden for the ceremony and the cute cocktail area and dance hall, it was the perfect size for us! Kaitlyn was very helpful and kind in all of our meetings and answered all of our questions. She helped me lay out all of the details and my mom requested a day-of coordinator to help us and Kaitlyn had wonderful references for us. We got matched with Ashely Fabrigas from FAB weddings and she was amazing and flexible and the day went off without a hitch.

While this is a golf course, they are the best golf course in long beach for a beautiful garden wedding. They have a private garden area with a gazebo and a lovely indoor reception hall. My husband and I went to every golf course in long beach but this one had the best sites for both indoor and outdoor. Theit prices are really reasonable per head and their coordinator Dori is extremely helpful both before and on the day of.

We were very very pleased with all of the crew at the Long Beach Rec especially with Cathy the event coordinator. Cathy was very nice, walked us through the entire process and I would highly recommend this venue. Being a new bride, I didn't know what to expect but Cathy held my hand the entire way literally :). Cathy answered any questions I had with ease, no matter how many questions I had she was always willing to go above and beyond to make me feel secure with using their location for our wedding on August 18th, 2013. Cathy made sure that we stayed within our budget, and with her doing that it kept me very calm vs. being very stressed. The day of the wedding went very very smooth, although it was on a Sunday (Cathy Off Day) she was willing to come in just to make me feel at ease but of course I told her enjoy your day off. The food was very delicious, and all my guests was happy and enjoyed the all the waiters who took care of our every need. KUDOS TO THE BIG REC, THEY ROCK!!!!!

Cathy was very sensitive to our budget customizing a package that fit our needs. Rec Park is such a beautiful site too with the outdoor gazebo ceremony, the patio cocktail hour with the twinkle lights, and the reception with the high wooden ceilings and French doors. Some venues give you a minimum and if you end up with less people then too bad you lose that money, but not Rec Park! Our min was 100 guest and we ended up with 70, so Cathy upgraded our package and we were delighted to end up with 2 hours hosted bar and 4 hot appetizers passed during cocktail hour AND the total cost was LESS then what was estimated! I loved my experience at rec park and I am so happy with how my wedding turned out, all my guest were so impressed!

I had my reception here. The food was better than expected but the service staff wasn't that great. It said it held 150 people, but really its more for 100 because my 140 guest list was cramped. The price person was alright but I could have had it at a hotel ballroom for the same price.

Ask for Cathy! She was awesome. We were lucking enough to have her coordinate the ceremony. The rest of the staff was reliable and professional. The place was gorgeous! Simple and sweet. Ceremony spot with a gazebo and flowers planted all around. The place was set up just like I wanted. The price can't be beat! Check this place out!

God's blessing that Ms. Cathy was the one who helped us. Almost everything was wonderful and worked according to our budget and dream wedding venue.
