I had been a regular at Red Stella Salon for a few years and had good experiences with haircuts, but I strongly urge anyone considering them for bridal hair and makeup to think twi...
ce.
I booked both services well in advance clearly stating it was for my wedding and that I was the bride. I had a makeup trial the day before my wedding that went fairly well, with a few notes the artist said she would adjust for the big day. Unfortunately, the day of my wedding was chaotic and extremely disappointing.
The makeup artist did not have the same products she used at the trial — including different lashes that looked and felt completely wrong — and after several failed attempts to change them while telling me that 'although they were not what I asked for from the day before, but she thought they looked okay', I ended up with chunky glue all over my eyelids. We had to start over, and my sister had to leave the salon to buy lashes that more closely matched the ones from the trial that we did not even have time to apply. The artist was nice but uncommunicative and unprofessional.
To make things worse, my hair appointment wasn’t even properly booked. Red Stella mistakenly transferred my bridal hair appointment to my sister’s name as we had the same last name and nobody called me to confirm the change. As a result, my hair was rushed and was not what I had asked for when booking, likely because I received less than half the attention I was supposed to. At one point my sister begged the hair dresser to begin working with me because time was so mismanaged. We were told the entire process for both of us would take 90 minutes total, but we were there for over 3 hours.
We left Red Stella Salon over an hour later than they said that we would, missed the window to take important family photos, and had a rushed first look before guests arrived. I am now paying for editing to fix crooked, mismatched lashes and makeup that didn’t reflect the look I had asked for from the day before. Not to mention the traumatic experience and not feeling like my best self on an otherwise amazing day.
Even though I had made specific requests during the makeup trial, as basic as lip color adjustments — none of those changes were considered or applied. They did not even have the right foundation that they said they would have available for the next day right after the trial.
Every employee I spoke to during booking and in person seemed unaware of any kind of bridal protocol although they were extremely apologetic. Red Stella employees made negative comments on the quality of the makeup kit while I was there on my wedding day. When I called to share my experience afterward to ask why bridal makeup is even offered if the staff wasn't equipped- the manager apologized and issued a refund, but she blamed staff for dropping the ball and referenced a bridal process that no one I interacted with seemed to know existed.
This was an incredibly stressful experience on a day that should have felt calm and supported. Red Stella may be fine for a haircut, but they are absolutely not equipped to handle bridal services professionally. I wouldn’t want any other bride to go through what I did. Staff was kind but extremely unprofessional, the makeup kit was poorly stocked and terribly applied (inconsistent from the trial the day before!), and management was quick to blame staff. Definitely not worth the worry, stress, and unsettling photos as a bride.
I have been going to red Stella for a year now and have been there four times. The reason why I went was I wanted to transition from red to blonde. I understand that going blonde i...
s a task in itself and it is not easy and sometimes it does take a few times. Each time I went I spent over $350 Plus I left a significantly sized tip. The hairstylist was very nice, but her work was less than professional. She was considered a very experienced stylist and she pretty much butchered my hair. But I thought since removing red from your hair is a transition I didn’t think anything of it at the time. Every time I went in, they did a full highlight to move me from red to blonde. But every time my hair looked pink. Even after toning. The stylist continued to say oh you just need to come back and we will eventually get you the blonde. That never happened. I’ve spent over $1500 and I still wasn’t blonde. Today I went to a cosmetology school that has a salon Incorporated in there for the public and it took one visit and buy a student who has only been doing hair since February and she got all of the red out of my hair and she did not fry it with bleach.. She styled my hair and always able to get me to a non-brassy blonde which was never done at that salon. The hairstylist constantly told me that she did not have the time to style my hair after she washed it. She even let me leave looking like a wet dog. Red Stella was not able to do that within four different visits. I have never been one to leave a negative review but I am very disappointed in my service and how much I have paid and I still didn’t look right I have even told the hairstylist I did not like my color and she was rolling her eyes and upset that she had to fix it. Honestly, I wouldn’t waste my money at this hair salon if you want your stuff done correctly. To even fix my hair, I was quoted and even more of a price. That should be free. Because it wasn’t my mistake. I will not be returning.
As I settled into the salon chair, I was greeted by Alisha’s radiant smile and genuine enthusiasm for her craft. Her passion for hair color was palpable, and I immediately felt at ...
ease knowing that my locks were in capable hands. We discussed my desired look and Alisha took the time to understand my preferences, offering valuable insights and recommendations tailored to enhance my natural features.
Alisha’s attention to detail was impeccable as she meticulously mixed the perfect blend of colors to achieve my dream hair color. Her artistic flair and precision were evident with each application, as she expertly painted highlights and lowlights to create depth and dimension. Throughout the process, Alisha kept me engaged and informed, ensuring that I felt comfortable and confident in her abilities.
What truly impressed me was Alisha’s commitment to perfection and her dedication to exceeding my expectations. She took the time to refine every detail, from the placement of each strand to the intensity of the color, resulting in a flawless finish that left me speechless. The final result surpassed anything I could have imagined, and I left the salon feeling like a true masterpiece.
Beyond her exceptional technical skills, Alisha’s warm and friendly demeanor made the entire experience enjoyable and relaxing. She made me feel like more than just a client – she treated me like a friend, sharing laughs and engaging in meaningful conversation throughout the appointment.

Red Stella Salon did a great job taking care of my hair needs
An amazing hair salon here in Austin Texas
Worst salon in Austin. Do yourself a favor and don't bother. They didn't listen to me and gave me the worst haircut I have ever had. Take your money elsewhere.

Sarah Contey did my hair and makeup for 3 separate looks on what was a very long and tiring wedding day! With two ceremonies and a reception, Sarah was invaluable throughout the da...
y. Not only did she create flawless, gorgeous looks on a chaotic day, but she was so helpful in everything else--putting my veil on, buttoning up the difficult buttons on my wedding dress, and letting me rest while putting make up on as much as possible. I would definitely recommend Sarah to my friends!
Raven Camacho at Red Stella made me look and feel absolutely gorgeous on my wedding day. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.
Before booking her, I had a horrendous trial ...
with another salon that I tried in order to save some money—huge mistake. I didn’t have time to do a trial with Raven, and after the nightmare at the other salon you would think that I would be nervous. But after browsing through her portfolio, I knew I was in great hands. She did an amazing job on both the hair and the makeup, taking her time and making sure everything was perfect. You should feel beautiful on your wedding day, and I surely did. I showed her some pictures of what I liked and she took control and made it happen.
I experienced the stress of what it would be like to be unhappy with my hair and makeup during my bridal trial and did everything possible to make sure that it didn’t repeat itself on the actual day. With everyone looking at you and all the pictures you will be in—it is worth the extra money to go to someone who knows what they’re doing—just look at her portfolio! I would recommend Raven to all of my friends (and I have!).
Alisha and her team did an amazing job on me and my girls hair and makeup! My hair and makeup stayed the entire night, I never had to do any touch ups! Alisha really listened to me...
and had no problem changing my makeup if I didn't like something. The whole team stayed on time and they were able to come to my venue so we didn't have to worry about traveling.
