We had an incredible experience forging our wedding bands with Janeane! We met with her a few times to plan the ring designs and then had the class. It was fascinating to learn about goldsmithing. You do at least 90% of the work and leave with jewelry that doesn’t look made by a newbie. Janeane is a fantastic teacher and is so kind and professional. She makes a memorable experience for couples. I would love to do another class with her. I highly recommend doing a wedding band class with Redbud Jewelry.

Make your wedding bands truly one-of-a-kind when you create them by hand in Redbud Jewelry's Chicago studio. No experience is necessary. You’ll be amazed at what you can create. That's right - you will be the one working in the centuries old hand fabricating technique to create your own wedding bands yourself!
You'll design and fabricate your rings one-on-one with goldsmith Janeane Karbassi. Janeane has extensive experience as a goldsmith and specializes in working with couples to forge their own wedding bands. Couples can work in any karat or color of gold and can add personal touches like engraving and stone setting.
Not sure if creating your own bands is right for you? Janeane also offers a complete custom design service where you can design your rings together and Janeane will fabricate them by hand for you.
THE PROCESS
You will meet with Janeane either in person or via Zoom to discuss the exact specifications of the rings you want to create. You'll know exactly what your rings will look like before coming in to the workshop. There are all kinds of beautiful designs you can create together.
Then, you'll start to fabricate. This is the fun part! It’s just you, Janeane, and the jeweler’s bench. She has extensive teaching experience and will be guiding you through the process. She’ll even have some snacks and a little bubbly to celebrate. The entire process takes about 4 hours and most couples leave with finished rings.
No partnership is alike and your experience and rings should reflect that! From our initial meetings until the workshop itself, Janeane prides herself on really listening and getting to know each person who comes into the studio. Expect a professional and creative atmosphere that encourages you to be yourselves, have a blast, and create something completely your own. The studio is LGBTQIA+ friendly and inclusive.

Janeane Karbassi is a goldsmith with over a decade of experience working in many aspects of the jewelry industry, including time spent as a resident artist in India working with local craftspeople.
Janeane's process focuses on centuries-old techniques that give her pieces heart. For her, handmade work is an extension of herself, an investment in the highest quality materials, and a desire to keep this art form alive. Her designs are inspired by the plains of Oklahoma where she grew up, her Chickasaw Native heritage, and the desire to keep fine craft alive.
