That's right - you will be the one working in the centuries old hand fabricating technique to create your own wedding bands yourself!
You'll design and fabricate your rings one-on-one with goldsmith Janeane Karbassi. Janeane has extensive experience as a goldsmith and specializes in working with couples to forge their own wedding bands. Couples can work in any karat or color of gold and can add personal touches like engraving and stone setting.
Not sure if creating your own bands is right for you? Janeane also offers a complete custom design service where you can design your rings together and Janeane will fabricate them by hand for you.
THE PROCESS
You will meet with Janeane either in person or via Zoom to discuss the exact specifications of the rings you want to create. You'll know exactly what your rings will look like before coming in to the workshop. There are all kinds of beautiful designs you can create together.
Then, you'll start to fabricate. This is the fun part! It’s just you, Janeane, and the jeweler’s bench. She has extensive teaching experience and will be guiding you through the process. She’ll even have some snacks and a little bubbly to celebrate. The entire process takes about 4 hours and most couples leave with finished rings.
No partnership is alike and your experience and rings should reflect that! From our initial meetings until the workshop itself, Janeane prides herself on really listening and getting to know each person who comes into the studio. Expect a professional and creative atmosphere that encourages you to be yourselves, have a blast, and create something completely your own. The studio is LGBTQIA+ friendly and inclusive.

My fiance and I did a ring making workshop and it surpassed any and all expectations. Janeane was so patient and an excellent teacher. She allowed us to do every part of the process, including engraving inside, and we made one another’s rings, which made them so meaningful. We were able to learn so much and have fun in the process. We were also pleasantly surprised by the price, as it was very comparable to regular wedding bands. The quality was also no less than we would have gotten if we’d had them made. If you are contemplating, I encourage you to do the ring making class!

This was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding/elopement! I would 100% recommend the wedding band workshop with Janeane. It was such a memorable experience and I love the fact that my partner and I made eachother's rings. Janeane was so wonderful and supportive and really made the experience special.

I went to Redbud to discuss what it would look like to make an engagement ring and I can tell you right now that is one of the best decisions I have ever made -- I seriously can't say enough good things about working with Janeane! Being able to go into her studio and actually make an engagement ring was such an amazing experience, and one that I don't think you can find anywhere else in the area. The ring is gorgeous and when I was in the studio I actually held all the tools and really did put it together which is just such an awesome thing to do for a special someone in your life. I had a say in every aspect of how this ring was made and picked out my own stone with the help of Janeane - I don't know where else you can get this custom of a ring while also being able to put the whole thing together with your own hands. And on top of that, Janeane is a great person to work with and really makes this a very personal experience. She took so many pictures of me while I was making this ring so you really will leave the studio with so many keepsakes.
When I first came to Janeane about potentially making an engagement ring for my now-fiancee, I felt very clueless and had A LOT of questions. She walked me through everything, answered my questions, and gave advice when I was looking for it. Communication was fantastic every step of the way, and that was even working around the very busy holiday season. I had a firm date for a proposal and we both worked together to make sure my engagement ring was ready before then with plenty of time to spare.
Now in terms of the actual ring, you will be amazed at what kind of ring you will walk away with. If you are thinking that by doing something that is more DIY a little quality might sacrificed, think again. I still look at my fiancees ring everyday and am just amazed at how beautiful it is and how it all came together so perfectly. My fiancee was very moved by getting a ring that was so personal and not just something picked out at a big box store, and she's gotten loads of compliments on it too. If you are at all thinking about doing something a little different with regards to a wedding band or engagement ring, please go to Redbud!!!

We had the absolute pleasure of making our wedding rings with Janeane at Redbud Jewelry. For our rings, we were looking for a unique and meaningful experience which Janeane provided and more! From the start of the process, she was so helpful with choosing the type of metal, style of ring and overall design. We do not have any background in metal work or design, so this was incredibly insightful.
During the workshop, Janeane guided us and allowed us to work entirely on our own or with help if we asked. The end product was a beautiful ring that we made and is unique to us. It was one of our favorite wedding activities we experienced. We would highly recommend Redbud Jewelry!

We used Redbud Jewelry to create our own custom wedding bands, and we could not be happier with the result! The workshop took a few hours from start to finish, and Janeane was attentive, engaging, and a great teacher from start to finish. Whenever we needed a little extra help she was happy to jump in and provide her expertise, but you get to complete almost all of the work that goes into your bands, making them a unique and meaningful token of your wedding. Would absolutely recommend this experience and process to anyone searching for a personalized touch for your rings!
