Ria attended Hunter College of the City of New York and graduated with a BA in Philosophy. Ria is passionate about helping others discover purpose, joy and meaning in their lives and draws from a wealth of modalities, training, and life experience to help her clients create lasting change and well-being. Ria is a warm, experienced, charismatic and creative Wedding Officiant, specializing in creating beautiful, unique and authentic ceremonies. She delights in working with all beliefs and traditions. While Ria officiates mostly English-language ceremonies, she is fully bilingual Spanish-English, and has knowledge of Indian tradition from her time in India. Ria delights in working with couples of all faiths, drawing from her Christian upbringing as well as her experience with Taoism, Native American spirituality and Hinduism. Whatever vision you have of your wedding, Ria will help you create a beautiful, memorable ceremony! As a special offering, the non-denominational Oneness Blessing can be added to any ceremony she officiates. Another beautiful add-on are the Hand-crafted Blessed Candles Ria creates for her couples, to bless their marriage and to use in their Unity Candle Ceremony! Ria's personal journey has included a traditional Christian upbringing, an apprenticeship with a Taoist coach, mentoring by a Native American Shaman, learning meditation at the feet of a wise spiritual teacher, and studying in India under the guidance of Awakened Beings. In her free time Ria enjoys making Blessed Candles, walking in nature, watching indie films, trying new recipes, decorating, and cuddling with her kitties Thomas & Tucker!

If you want the most perfect ceremony, that’s tender and heartfelt (even humorous in our case!), truly captures the love you share with your partner, and delivered by a grounding presence on the day that means the most to you, you will want Ria! Our ceremony was more beautiful than I could have imagined, and will be a cherished memory for the rest of my life. She made the effort to get to know us in the time leading up to our wedding, provided lots of great sample ceremony material to pull from, and had ceremony drafts ready for us well in advance and also was able to make a super last minute change for us. I was stressing when it came time to to hire an officiant for our wedding as we are not very religious individuals. I found that most people these days have somebody in their family or friend group do the wedding or somebody related to their religious affiliation. We ultimately wanted our family and friends to enjoy the wedding and not have to stress about doing our ceremony. Our wedding planner put us in touch with Ria. We had our initial zoom consult and I felt very confident that Ria would be able to cater to our needs and do an excellent job. She got to know us and really asked what we were looking for in an officiant. She addressed every single question and concern we had with ease. Her communications skills ( which I value most) was top notch! She never took long to respond and was always eager to respond via text or email. I never felt like a bother to her. We also wern't sure if we were going to do a rehearsal dinner when we hired her and she was accommodating with leaving that option on the table until we did decide. It was a pleasure getting to meet her in person finally at our rehearsal dinner. I am so glad we did a few run throughs before the big day ( mostly to put the wedding party at ease!) . At the end of the day, we collaborated on the ceremony outline and loved how she customized it for us. Everyone that met Ria at our ceremony/rehearsal dinner LOVED her. She has an infectious energy that makes her perfect for this role. Our ceremony was beautiful and classy- there was absolutely nothing I would change. My wife and I were nervous to meet Ria as we’ve never done this before. We had no idea what to expect, or what would be expected of us. Our nerves were quickly settled upon meeting her over video. Ria’s very easy to work with, and provided everything! She has a ton of material to offer for any style of wedding. Once we picked out what we liked/wanted Ria put it all together to make it our own. She really did an incredible job, and everyone absolutely LOVED it. Months later people are still talking about our ceremony, and how beautiful it was. The reason for the four stars is due to an issue with how the ceremony started vs how we rehearsed it. During rehearsal we discussed Ria being at the alter before we walked down. However, on the day of the wedding it didn’t happen that way. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn’t realize Ria wasn’t there when I got to the alter. I turned to watch my bride walk in as the doors opened. This is when Ria emerged from the bridal room which was off to the side. She stepped in from the side, and walked down the aisle in front of my wife and her mother. I’m unsure what went wrong, or caused the mix up. It was disappointing though as I only got a quick glimpse of my wife before I was watching Ria walk down to the song for my wife in front of them. On the plus side our guests didn’t seem to notice this, but we did. Everything else was very beautiful, and Ria really did do a great job with our ceremony! I would recommend using her, and just make sure everyone is on the same page. Thank you again Ria for the beautiful ceremony!

Our experience with Ria Roth was absolutely perfect. Firstly, Picking the officiant is such an enormously important choice to set the tone of your wedding. It’s your special day that deserves a fun officiant who will give a unique, meaningful and memorable address. My now husband and I both received recommendations (from separate people) to reach out to Ria to officiate our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made. She gave wonderful guidance and suggestions based on our description of what traditions/religious pieces we envisioned being included and made what could have been a really overwhelming process run smoothly by giving very explicit and hard to forget instructions during our rehearsal. She will take the time to meet with you and your significant other to get a feel for your relationship, who you are together, and how she can incorporate that into your day. Needless to say, Ria came up with absolutely beautiful, witty and heartwarming readings and speeches that fit our different religious backgrounds. People from both sides of our family told us all night what a beautiful ceremony it was. She is the most calming presence, which is really important when you’re up in front of however many guests watching you... I truly felt like Ria, my fiancé and I were the only people in the room. Truly, at the end of the ceremony I was slightly startled to hear everyone clap and cheer. She’s also just an amazing person to get to know. 10/10, Highly recommend Ria Roth!

Ria was fantastic! We needed someone who could do a blended ceremony in English and in Spanish, and she went above and beyond to help us put it together! Her communication was fantastic and she was super easy to work with! She also did a wonderful job of helping my husbands family feel welcome and help integrate the families! And just as a funny side note, we had an outdoor wedding, and at one point, a spider was crawling on her, and she didn't falter one bit! I'm not sure she even noticed, that's how present she was during the ceremony! We love Ria and we'd highly recommend her to anyone!

Ria was an absolute joy to work with. Even our photographers mentioned how great she was when they found out we had booked her. Choosing readings and working through a ceremony outline can feel overwhelming and foreign. She helped us through every step though to make sure we felt comfortable. She was keen to learn about us to make sure the wedding reflected our personalities and was nothing but respectful about it through the whole process. She provided us with lots of poems, musings, and quotes to help us choose what we felt fit us which was truly appreciated. She provided us an outline of the ceremony beforehand for approval and walked us through all the details at the rehearsal which gave us the confidence we needed. After the ceremony was over, all our guests immediately let us know how much they enjoyed it. The response was absolutely incredible. No one could have been happier with the way she conducted our wedding, the wisdom she shared, and the care that she took in making sure that we had a happy wedding day. She truly breathes new life a brings fresh perspectives into what can often be a stale and stuffy ceremony. Ria was an amazing officiant for our wedding. We could not have asked for someone more thoughtful, dedicated, or kind for our ceremony. Ria was the only officiant we interviewed who not only followed up within a few days but was very quick to respond via messaging. She took time to get to know us as a couple and wrote a section for our unique unity ceremony she had never completed before. Ria is absolutely amazing! She is extremely organized and so helpful when planning out the ceremony. She has readings, poems and so much more to help you if you’re stuck. During the rehearsal she was super helpful with telling us where to stand. My entire wedding party expressed to me they’ve never been in a wedding where the officiant was so professional, organized and had this all down. I will recommend Ria to everyone! Ria is AMAZING! We had originally thought about having a family member or friend officiate our wedding, but once we met Ria, we knew she had to be the one to marry us. She opened her heart to us from the get and has kept it open beyond our wedding day. My husband and I consider ourselves spiritual but not religious and we wanted a ceremony that represented this as well as our belief in equality as life partners. Ria created a ceremony for us that spoke to the importance and sanctity of the moment, but that was also modern and respectful of our views. For our wedding, Ria wrote a touching and personal ceremony. The only problem is I did not see that ceremony until 6 days before our wedding after it being promised much earlier than that multiple times. While it all ended up working out, I am very type A and did not appreciate the ceremony draft getting to me at the last minute. At the rehearsal, my grandma wanted to be escorted in by a groomsmen with her husband following which is very traditional. Ria argued with her and made her feel very uncomfortable and upset about the request despite me not having a preference. Eventually it all worked out but the whole situation did bring my grandma to tears. While I am happy with how my wedding eventually turned out, it was a little rocky getting there.

during our first meeting, I told you that my goal was to have your ceremony written about a month before. As I shared with you at the beginning of August, I had to have unexpected major surgery late July in the middle of wedding season, and was on medical leave for 3 weeks. That, combined with physical therapy twice a week and all the rescheduled weddings from last year, made my schedule very intense during the busiest wedding season I have had in 14 years. When we communicated, I asked you to trust that I would deliver a beautiful ceremony, despite the unexpected change in my schedule, and you say that I did. As for your your grandmother, I had a heartfelt conversation with her on the day of the rehearsal, where she shared that her husband, your grandfather, had been very ill and “we almost lost him.” She was teary-eyed, and we held hands and I said that I would pray for him. My role during a rehearsal is to offer ideas, suggestions and opinions based on my experience and knowledge. This is why, during the rehearsal, I asked if she wouldn’t rather walk with her husband instead of her grandson. I was unaware that there was a tradition in your family that the grandson walks the grandmother and as I shared then, I always abide by a couple and their family's wishes, so there was no danger that I would have (or have I ever) forced my opinion on someone. That is simply not who I am. Perhaps the emotion she was feeling affected how my suggestion was received. For any pain she felt I am truly sorry. Respectfully, Ria

She spent the time to truly get to know us so that she could make the ceremony as personal as possible. We requested a nonreligious ceremony and Ria went the extra mile to ensure our ceremony was catered to our spiritual beliefs and values. On the day of, Ria was timely and on top of all her duties. The ceremony was beautiful and we are still getting compliments on it! Ria is no longer just our officiant, she is our friend. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Ria. We didn’t meet her in person until our rehearsal the day before the wedding, but even over Zoom, my husband and I knew immediately that we wanted her to marry us. She took such care in getting to know us, our story, and what we wanted our wedding ceremony to be. It was important to us to jump the broom as a nod to our ancestors and Ria incorporated it seamlessly and beautifully into our ceremony. Both of our families loved her and we are so happy with how everything turned out!

Ria is amazing! From the first phone call we had with her we knew she was going to be perfect to officiate our wedding. Not only is she extremely professional and knows what she is doing, she is down to Earth and just an amazing person. I loved that she sent us a bunch of material to go through before our wedding so we could look at examples and figure out how we wanted the ceremony to go, what we wanted to say, etc. She also ran our rehearsal which made us feel at ease for the big day. It is hard to put into words how much we loved having Ria as our wedding officiant. 5 months before our wedding, we were scrambling to find someone to officiate our wedding due to a family friend not being able to be our officiant anymore due to Covid-19. We found Ria through The Knot and we are SO HAPPY that we did! From our first meeting with her over Zoom, we fell in love with her. She is so kind and you can tell she truly cares about all of the couples she works with--she wants to actually get to know you as individuals and as a couple.
