ore our wedding when we signed up for lessons with Sandro. Both of us were completely inexperienced and untalented at dance (0 years of formal training, no previous exposure or interest to dance), yet we wanted to be able to do a complete choreographed ballroom dance in these two short months. In that short amount of time, Sandro was able to introduce the basics of ballroom dance to us, teach us a variety of routines to be flexibly incorporated, and choreograph a beautiful routine (3-4 minutes) that made us look and feel elegant, graceful, and competent. Sandro is a patient teacher who has an eye for even the smallest details, whether it is the choreography, timing, or musicality of the dance. He is experienced enough to cater his teaching style to individuals, as he had to take numerous approaches to get me to understand the same concept. Although I only learned ballroom dancing from him, he appears to be experienced in a large variety of styles, so he is perfect for nearly any genre of classical dance. On a personal level, Sandro is a very comforting and joyful presence; he creates a non-judgmental environment that is perfect for any student, and knows how to critique without being harsh or hurtful. With each lesson, I felt both my competency and confidence grow. He is an excellent teacher, an expert of his craft, and a fun guy to be around. For anyone interested in formal dance training, especially those with no background, I would recommend Sandro immediately.

py enough on a dance floor. He builds something that looks polished and still feels like you, and breaks it into pieces you can remember and practice on your own. He paced it well. We started with a few lessons about three or four months out, across a few weeks, until we felt ready to work on it ourselves. He recorded videos for us to practice from, both of him dancing it with us and of the two of us dancing it together in the studio, which is what we worked from at home. Once we had got as far as we could on our own we booked another session, and he put the icing on it: blocking, timing, expressions, remembering to breathe. He helped us choose the song too. It held up. We both knew our steps and it was fun, which matters when you are standing in front of 120 people. It finishes with spins, a lift and a dip, and our guests cheered the whole way through. Several of them had been filming and waiting to see whether the lift was coming. It landed cleanly, and the room went up. People came straight onto the floor for the next few songs and into the hora after that. That memory alone was worth what the lessons cost. He is a seriously good dancer and an even better teacher. We would send anyone to him.

As a world-class instructor with extensive Broadway experience, his technique and rhythm are top-tier, but what sets him apart is his ability to teach. On top of that, he has an incredible ear for music. He was actually able to refine and edit our custom song piece to match our dance routine perfectly so that everything flowed effortlessly. In just five lessons, he turned my anxiety into real confidence, crafting a dance where my wife could shine while I felt totally in control. If Sandro can get me comfortable on the dance floor, he can help anyone. Highly recommend!

It is bitter sweet that we already had our wedding because we had the perfect day, but we also really miss the experience of planning a wedding specifically looking forward to dancing with Sandro!! y anxieties dissipated the moment we started our lessons with Sandro. He offers private lessons in a studio in midtown so there’s ample space and privacy. We showed him a few song options we were considering and he immediately clocked what might work or not with each song so we were able to pick one out with his advice. He prepared a dance for us based on our personalities, our skill level, and then we spent the next three/four lessons learning our moves and then learning to dance with each other. Sandro is an infectious presence -- he’s charming and funny and helps you build confidence and believes in your ability to dance. I looked forward to dance lessons with him each time. And he built a routine that worked so well with our song and we were so excited to show him our dance video after the wedding. Our guests were in awe of our performance, not because we were so talented, but because they could tell how much we’d practiced and how much fun we had. Sandro’s choreography really helped highlight our relationship with each other. Wedding is over, but now we’re booking salsa lessons with him next because he’s taught us to move our bodies and love to dance!

There were several moves that Sandro demonstrated that I initially balked at, as I did not think I was capable of. But Sandro broke down all the moves piece by piece and helped me work through any sticking points. In addition to learning the routine Sandro designed for us, he also really helped me understand how to mess-up the routine and just dance on. We ended up doing 5 lessons with Sandro and it was one of our favorite parts of wedding prep. Sandro brings so much energy and fun to the process. We looked forward to each lesson and always left in high-spirits.
