Melissa Rose Dance

Melissa was such an incredible dance instructor. My fiancé and I had no dance experience and wanted to learn some steps to a unique song that we really liked for our First Dance at our wedding. Melissa helped us work out our choreography in a very organic way, giving us her professional thoughts and ideas, while also hearing our input on what we liked, didn’t like and even some of our crazier ideas! Together we’re able to come up with a fun First Dance that exceeded even our own expectations and gave our wedding guests a great show! Melissa was incredibly flexible to work with on timing and location. She came to our house for a few of our earlier sessions and then we met at a studio at times that worked with our busy schedules. We were able to schedule sessions very quickly and easily either in person or via text. Melissa’s rates were also incredibly reasonable and the value of her teaching was worth much more than the cost of sessions. We definitely have interest in continuing dance lessons in the future and Melissa will 100% be our go to!! Cannot recommend her enough! If you want a fun, hands on, enjoyable dance experience, Melissa is your best choice!!

I was initially quite nervous about taking dance lessons, since I don't like crowds and am not particularly coordinated. Right away Melissa was able to put me at ease and build up my confidence. During a pre-wedding time full of stress, our lessons with her were a welcome break during which my now-husband and I could focus on learning something new, and also on having fun! Melissa did an outstanding job working with us to develop a routine that matched our vision for our wedding and who we are as a couple and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone.

Melissa is great! Neither I nor my bride nor I had any real experience dancing and Melissa was able to take our favorite song and teach us a dance to it that was not too complex to learn but complex enough to impress! Highly recommended!

We began working with Melissa without a clear picture of what we wanted to do. She helped us through our process of song and style selection, and then started with us from ground 0 on choreography. Her grace, kindness, and unending patience with us helped us feel comfortable and calm throughout the experience. Melissa was very accommodating with our schedules. She was easy to communicate with for both logistics and dance. She even worked with my husband and my mother in law on their Mother Son dance! If we ever have another party featuring dances, we will certainly work with Melissa again. She is wonderful!

Melissa helped us feel comfortable dancing together and not only put together something for our first dance, but she helped us to learn different dance styles to be able to learn to adapt and follow each other to make us more confident, even if we didn't have an exact choreography. She was very responsive and helped to do lessons in the evenings around our schedules. Through the changes in shelter in place and COVID, she offered options to continue lessons and made us feel supported through the whole process. We plan to continue to take future lessons from her to continue getting better at dancing (she is so fun to work with and we found that we love to dance through her lessons!).

Melissa is the best! My husband dad and I were all dreading first dances and Melissa had the best attitude, was so patient and gave us all the tools to make us feel confident and have a good time. Melissa's approach is unique in that she gave us the actual tools to do the style of dance rather than a perfectly choreographed routine down to the second. This made us feel more confident in our abilities because it meant if we messed up slightly we had the ability to recover without anyone noticing instead of ruining the entire dance! We also started our lessons right before COVID closures and Melissa was so flexible and understanding throughout the entire process. She checked in on us about potential delays to our wedding plans and offered different options from delaying lessons to online lessons to make us feel comfortable. As a result, my husband was even suggesting we start doing dance lesson date nights after the wedding, couldn't recommend Melissa more!

Melissa was friendly, flexible, and thoughtful about her dance instructing. For our wedding, she mixed styles based on our abilities and time available for practice. During the first lesson, she began with simpler techniques due to our time limitations, but then, when she realized we were able to learn more advanced techniques, Melissa changed our routine to fit our natural abilities. During the wedding, our dance was a hit! People actually thought I knew how to dance! Nope; I just had natural rhythm and a good instructor.

Melissa did a great job at helping us with our perfect first dance! We described to her some ideas we had in mind and she was able to come up with a fun dance on the spot. She was very flexible and easy to work with. We both had very little partner dance experience but she helped us learn great technique in the short span of time that we had to prepare. Our wedding guests loved our first dance - especially the fun lift during which they went wild! We give her five stars!

We have loved working with Melissa! We knew absolutely nothing when we started and she brought us so far in just 10 lessons. She covered a ton of West Coast swing with us, but also introduced us to East Coast swing, waltz, salsa, and her specialty—Argentine tango. Our main goal was simply to be able to dance at some upcoming friends’ weddings and not make fools of ourselves, but we’re having so much fun that we plan to keep going!

Melissa is fantastic! When my fiancé and I decided on a tango for our first dance, we were very nervous since we had never done it before. She has been very patient and has done a great job of building our confidence. I absolutely love that she has so much experience and training in real Argentine tango that she is able to authentically teach us. She has not only helped us with choreography for our wedding, she has taught us to dance tango for any occasion or Milonga. Her prices are very reasonable and she is flexible with scheduling. Five stars for sure!

Fantastic! Melissa does a wonderful job teaching, guiding and instructing in all aspects of learning to dance. Melissa has a gentle way of teaching and she was even able to teach me, someone with two left feet! When it came time for my daughter's wedding we wanted to dance together but never having danced that part was probably the most nerve raking thing of all for me! However, when it came time for the big day, that part - our dance - was the most enjoyable part of the entire night for me! I was looking forward to dancing with my little girl and had the confidence to do it - all because of Melissa's teaching!! I am so glad we took the lessons with Melissa! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for quality dance instruction. Melissa made the whole process easy and enjoyable and you will not be disappointed in giving her a try!

My experience is with a Father -Daughter Dance , and my daughter also had Melissa for her First Dance. Here’s why I gave Melissa a 5 star rating : 1. I had zero experience with slow dances or a waltz. 2. Due to time constraints, and my daughter and I living in different cities, we could only schedule 5 (1 hour) dance sessions, and 2 of them were back to back sessions at the same time,, so 5 sessions in 3 days. 3. Somehow Melissa just knew how to understand my utter lack of experience and limitations and approach the instructions from many different points of view, visual, descriptive,, written notes for counting, software for counting steps, gently training each of individually and together at the right times, by breaking the waltz down into manageable parts and then pull it all together. It was clear that her decade long experience has given Melissa a versatile inventory of different types of clients of varying abilities to draw from, and , this is important, quickly progress each lesson expeditiously and achieve a very good end result for the Father Daughter dance in 5 total hours of instruction. This is why I believe Melissa deserves a 5 star rating because when you think about, and consider all of the above facts , it would be clear that she aced a tall order.

My wife and I had dance lessons for our wedding and the results were phenomenal! What's even more impressive is that she was able to teach a stuff board like myself how to loosen up and flow with the music. Melissa was very punctual and we had no issues reaching out to her if we had to for practicing at home. We were also able to film parts we had problems with in our dance with her so we had a guide to take home! If we had issues in our dance, she easily got them cleared up. Her teaching method is very useful. She will observe what you have issues with, show you what you are doing, then demonstrate how to fix the issues so you can perform well. She's an excellent teacher, you just have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone to learn new things and dance to enjoy it!

We used Melissa to learn our first dance and my daddy daughter dance. She was FANTASTIC!!! We learned so much from her and because of that we got some amazing photos from our first dance. She didn’t just teach us choreography, she actually taught us how to dance. We cannot recommend her enough!

Melissa's teaching method was fantastic. I had absolutely zero experience going in while my fiancee had some experience. We both came out feeling great and confident for our first dance.

I only had about a month to take dance lessons for my husband & my first dance, my husband & his mother, my dad and me! Not a lot of time at all. We took two lessons each, so 6 lessons total & then my husband & I decided to take one more last dance lesson week of just to have a last minute practice. After just those few lessons, Melissa made us feel so comfortable with what we had learned and able to show off at the wedding. So super sweet & great to work with! She is soo knowledgeable & a great teacher!! She worked magic on what she had to work with. We all knew nothing about dancing and very uncoordinated and she taught us soo much! There are so many factors in learning to dance that you’d never think of and she really knew her stuff! I highly recommend her to anyone looking to take any or all styles of dance lessons! She taught each of us to dance with our choices of song in only two lessons!!!!! & I think that is totally incredible! I was just expecting to maybe learn some technique in that short time but we each not only learned technique but many other things involving dance knowledge & two or three styles/choices of dances IN ONLY TWO LESSONS!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 If we didn’t move to Houston after the wedding, we were really interested in taking more lessons with her just for fun!

Melissa worked with us for weeks to develop a custom tango routine for our first dance, and it was an amazing success! She was very easy to work with and it created an unforgettable moment for us. I highly recommend her!

Melissa is amazing! She coordinated the father-daughter dance for my wedding. We came to her with a remix of our favorite songs and she was able to coordinate and teach us (very uncoordinated family lol) how to dance within a month before the wedding! She is extremely professional, patient, and a pure joy to be around! She is very flexible and worked with our hectic schedule. The father-daughter dance was one of the absolute highlights of my wedding and I have Melissa to thank for that! Would recommend her for dance lessons for the professionals and for the beginners!

We had Melissa teach us some dance moves for our First Dance song and she was so helpful! We told her our song choice and she taught us a dance for that specific song that was fairly easy to learn and looked great! Let me start by saying, no actual dance experience is needed for Melissa to work her magic and make you capable of moves you never thought possible. She really takes the time to listen to you and what your expectations are and makes the impossible possible. I never felt confident in my ability to keep on beat, but Melissa was able to see where I was struggling and was able to help me make the adjustments to make our first dance as husband and wife a truly magical experience. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in bringing their dance to the next level. She truly is gem and made the experience so enjoyable to go though.

I like how patient and encouraging Melissa has been with us. She builds on our strengths and adapts the lessons to what she knows we will succeed in. We would not be able to do 90% of what we are doing now without her lessons for our upcoming wedding. I would highly recommend her.

She provided some great choreography for two beginners and we looked great in the wedding videos. The steps were easy to learn and after some practice we looked smooth and polished.

Melissa is great. My fiancé and I are NOT dancers, but Melissa has had the patience and skill to get us moving in the right direction. We are taking lessons now for our first dance at our wedding, and after a few lessons our routine is taking shape beyond what I ever could have expected. We worked with Melissa Rose Dance for a special choreographed dance for our wedding. We had a song chosen and she picked a cool west coast swing to match it. I needed a lot of help, but Melissa patiently worked with us to learn the basics and slowly add complexity to our dance. Melissa was helpful and encouraging, and she made each of our lessons fun. She was also flexible with our busy pre-wedding and work schedules. The most rewarding part was performing our dance for friends and family at the wedding. Melissa prepared us well, and it was one of the highlights of our special wedding weekend. I highly reccomend her services to anyone wishing to take lessons.

Working with Melissa as my daughter and I prepared for the dad/daughter dance at her wedding was in itself a special event. We had a great time as we both learned quite a bit about dancing and a little bit about Melissa’s dedication to her craft. She is very patient as she explains and works through the various moves. She involves the dancers as part of the choreography so the dance reflects the personality of the performers. As a result of the experience, my wife and I also took lessons with Melissa prior to the wedding and we expect to continue our initial steps (pun intended). By the way, the dance went great. Melissa is, quite frankly, incredible. Yes, she can teach you any style of dance. Yes she can make you feel more graceful that you thought possible. But, more importantly, she can give you a love of dance and give you an amazing new hobby. My now husband and I had so much fun and grew so much together through her lessons. We are, actually, still her students learning Argentinian tango! It was the best part of wedding prep and we absolutely love her!

We have had 3 lessons with Melissa so far, and we have nothing but good things to say about her. From our very first conversation, she has been so easy to work with. She got us in for our first lesson right away and we decided to purchase more that night after working with her. We are both very inexperienced dancers. We had 3 dance lesson's with Melissa and it was so fun! Melissa was so sweet and a great teacher. We were initially gifted a lesson as an engagement gift form our parents and at the end knew we were coming back for more. Neither of us have dance backgrounds but we left feeling so good and learned so much each time. We got so many compliments on our first dance and especially our dip! Learning how to properly dip came in handy for all the photos ops too! I can't say enough great things about Melissa.. you will not be disappointed!!!

She's truly amazing at what she does and I would recommend her to anybody interested in learning to dance, be it recreationally, for a wedding, or other event. My now husband and I loved our experience with Melissa! We already had a song we wanted to use but she also has lots of recommendations if you need any. So we played the song and she immediately threw out ideas on what type of dance style we could go with it. From there she choreographed a dance for our first dance at our reception. The whole experience was so fun! Melissa took the stress out of having to worry about our first dance PLUS she made us look really GREAT :) I can't recommend Melissa more. My fiance and I decided early on that we wanted to do more in our first dance then just rock back and forth. We both love dancing but had no experience. Melissa is such a great teacher!! We took a total of 6 lessons from her, and we had so much fun in each lesson. She taught us some great moves for our first dance, and we can not wait to show all of our guests. My fiance was a little nervous about it at first, but he ended up loving it! She made us feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire time. The studio sometimes had other dancers in it, but we actually prefered it because there will be lots of people and distractions on our actual wedding date. It is also a fun way to bond and spend some time together before the wedding. Do yourselves a favor and don't wait until the last minute to book these lessons. We spaced our lessons out over 4 months and used that time as a date. We also spent time practicing in between the lessons which allowed us to maximize the time we had with Melissa. I would recommend Melissa to anyone wanting to elevate their first dance and have a good time.

Our first dance was my favorite moment of our wedding because it was more than just a few minutes in my mind. We started taking lessons from Melissa and it quickly became out favorite date night activity, that we kept up after the wedding! Every other week we spent an hour with her and learned how to tango. Melissa was amazing and patient while teaching us and we always looked forward to our lessons. She was excellent at communicating and demonstrating the moves for us. I personally don't have great rhythm, but Melissa taught me how to listen to the music and add my own little flare to it. By the time the wedding came around I was confident and excited for my first dance with my husband. While we were on that dance floor there were no nerves and I was able to enjoy every moment and think back on all the fun we had getting to that point. We still tango today, in our kitchen when the food is on the stove or when we hear a song while we are cleaning. We spent our honeymoon on a cruise and we danced every night!! Melissa's choreography was the highlight of the wedding and we got so many compliments. Melissa is a great person and teacher and made my first dance unforgettable.

Melissa is a wonderful teacher. My fiancé and I had no prior dance experience and were very nervous for our first lesson. Melissa was able to break things down without making us feel stupid or silly. We originally only booked 2 lessons because we weren’t sure we would like it. However we ended up continuing lessons afterwards because we really enjoyed it and felt like we were actually learning to dance! We now feel confident for our first and and therefore we highly recommend Melissa!
