10 out of 10, Fancy That is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and I would recommend them to anyone having a wedding or throwing a party! As a couple, we knew nothing about wedding planning and ...
Ruthie, her mom and Michelle helped us SO MUCH! Ruthie is an absolute rockstar and her patience and kindness make you feel so taken care of and that you are in good hands! The team's professionalism and experience in the business help you bring your vision to light. I cannot tell you how many people complimented our wedding invitations! The team works with you and tells you exactly what is important to have and what you can cut costs on, they get you the best deals and are so transparent. It is not very often you get exceptional products, exceptional service and a great price you are comfortable with! They answer emails almost immediately, get on phone calls and facetimes and do in person meetings, it is UNBELIEVEABLE HOW AMAZING THEY ARE! I am so lucky to not only have the help of Fancy That for my wedding invitations, but they also did our guest table number cards, table number signs, specialty cocktail signs, custom napkins and gorgeous menus for our big day! We had a bad experience with the first invitation store, Bespoke Designs in Westport CT, we visited and then found Fancy That, and thank goodness we did because THEY SAVED US!! Thank you a million times over again to the team at Fancy That!
Diane and Michelle are planning my shower and wedding and have been absolutely amazing! The shower and save the date Invites they made for us are absolutely beautiful! They have ...
so many great options and ideas. They have been so helpful and have brought so many amazing ideas forward. From the start, they have been there every step of the way making everything so special. When our wedding was postponed due to Covid, they continued to stay on top of every detail and even offered to help assist with our small backyard ceremony. They have every detail down to a science, from creativity to the itinerary for the day of, they have everything covered so you don’t have to worry.
We couldn’t be happier with having them plan our wedding. They are so great to work with and always have our best interest at heart!
Their quality is beautiful. Truly unique. But their communication is a zero out of ten. They completely botched my vision. Although it was kind of them to discount the price as an ...
apology, it truly broke my heart. You only get married once in your life, and as a graphic designer myself, it was painful to see such carelessness. Multiple errors made on our invitations, emphasis on MULTIPLE. They even spelled “accommodations” wrong on my invitations. Truly humiliated in front of 300+ people. I hate writing bad reviews like this, because as someone who supports small, family owned businesses, it was not great to experience something like this- and it important for me to share this with other brides. I didn’t even receive an apology from the team, just a discounted price. Just please be cautious!
This was our first stop to look at invitations and we never looked anywhere else. We were hooked. We loved how you could customize your save the date, invitation, favors etc. it wa...
s so personal and that’s what my husband and I were looking for. Everywhere else seemed to have a cut out for everything which seemed so boring and we wanted something personal everyone would remember as being so elegant/different and capture us at the same time. Fancy that did exactly that and then some. We were so impressed with their services with swatches, font, paper thickness etc that we trusted them to do our save the dates, invitations, escort cards, favors and also thank you cards! We love the whole team at fancy that! Would never think to go anywhere else from the second we stepped foot into their door. You will love their services; so trustworthy and beautiful.
Highly recommend FancyThat for special occasion invitations. We used them for our save the dates, bridal shower invites, rehearsal dinner invites, and wedding invitations.
What I...
liked:
- They are knowledgeable about etiquette. I learned some things such as “request the honor of your presence” is only used in a place of worship and would not be appropriate for a ceremony not at a temple or church.
- They work with you to get it right and are very detail oriented. They’ll go back and forth with you on many rounds of edits until you’re pleased.
- Final products all felt high quality and I felt good sending them out to our friends and family.
I worked with Rebecca mostly and she was a pleasure, as were my meetings with Michelle and Diane. Overall they made my life easy with this one aspect of wedding planning and I appreciated my experience. Thank you!!
The team at Fancy That was great to work with! They really listened to us and created a full package from start to finish that pulled together everything we were looking for. The c...
ompliments we got on the invitations were unbelievable! They were also able to tie in themes/fonts from our invitations to match our rehearsal dinner menu cards...to make the whole thing cohesive. Their knowledge of the space, standards, best practices, procedures, etc was very impressive. The team also worked diligently to get everything done in time for our expedited timeline, which was greatly appreciated! Michelle, in particular, was fabulous! She was super responsive (including “after hours” and on the weekends) and had great attention to detail. I’d highly recommend this vendor.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Fancy That, so much so that once the invites went out, we designed the rest of our day-of products online.

tation was underwhelming, and details like custom postage and digital calligraphy were a huge let-down. The worst part of working with Fancy That was the customer service, though.. At this price point, I would definitely expect better and would highly recommend you explore Fourteen Forty, Ceci, or other vendors and steer clear of FT.
1. Service
Fancy That required an intense level of babysitting and follow up – really a hassle for a bride without a planner. Typos in initial drafts of the invite included referring to my parents as "Mr. and Mr." Last Name as opposed to "Mr. and Mrs." One simple round of proofreading on their end would have caught basic mistakes like that. That’s only one example of the several errors we were constantly correcting.
Even worse, we felt that the designers were really below-average, at least compared to the NYC high-end invitation market. Fourteen Forty gave us an almost identical quote for a full custom suite, which would have included hand-drawn/designed details from our venue. Fancy That could barely manage to execute a VERY simple design - and definitely did not suggest or add any special flourishes on top of what we specifically (repeatedly, painstakingly) described and asked for.
The worst part of the experience was my feeling that we were treated "less than" other clients - from my perspective, it seemed that wealthy, old-money, Upper East Siders got priority at Fancy That. The fact that we were paying full freight (and I mean full) didn't seem to matter, as we didn't have a planner that Fancy That knew, and our parents are from out of state. At this price point, every client should be treated exceptionally. Our contact regularly took days to respond, requiring follow up emails and phone calls almost every time we needed a change or update. Everyone leaves at 6pm sharp. FT missed almost every promised deadline by at least a few days.
2. Product
The invite itself was close to but not exactly what we had wanted. The gilded edge they pushed on us looked terrible with the light blush color of our invite – a bad design call on FT’s part.
FT forgot that we had asked for custom postage. Before the invites went out, I asked where we were at with postage, and they acted shocked we wanted something custom (we had asked repeatedly in early design meetings). We ended up using designs from zazzle.com - the stamps were printed with zazzle.com in large letters. Nowhere near as nice as the minted custom stamps we had gotten for our StD.
The digital calligraphy disappointed too. I had to personally edit the layout of each address- and the font was not at all customizable in terms of serifs. Had I known, I would have used Etsy to get hand calligraphy - but FT charges RIDICULOUS fees for that. Their pricing is outdated with the options available today online.
Our website details card needed some sort of little design and was super plain in the end. The gilded edge was not worth the cost. FT could not do a metallic design envelope liner and we ended up going without a liner. Many of the extra invites (shipped to the wrong address after we agreed I'd pick them up in store) were not perfect quality and had marks on them…
Our invitations created by the Fancy That team, were absolutely stunning and came out just as we had hoped for. From the very start they made the process of deciding on our invitat...
ions and other paper goods extremely easy. The wide assortment of invitations that they offer could have been very overwhelming, but the team was there to assist us with picking out the one that fit our taste, needs, and price point. This made it very easy for us to pick out the invitation/accessories that stood out to us while still staying within our budget. They were very prompt with getting back to us with any questions or comments, and made sure that we hit all of our required deadlines to ensure a prompt delivery to our guests. We worked primarily with Stephanie, who was extremely informative and patient through the entire process. We went in kind of unsure of what we wanted, but after less than an hour working with her I knew exactly which style I was going to go with. Since we were trying to stay within a specific budget, she created a whole bunch of different proposals that included or took out various options so we could see what the pricing would be for each. The entire office seemed very professional and was easy to get to being in midtown. Everyone there was extremely friendly and gave off the impression of caring greatly about creating the perfect invitations for you regardless of how much you were willing to spend. We would highly recommend them for your wedding/party paper products!
