er to help set up and tear down décor, we were excited to work with her. Although set up and tear down is no longer part of her planning package, it was when we hired her, which was a key reason for our decision. When we hired her, she was also starting her wedding rental business, so she told us she would buy things for her rental inventory we wanted so she could use them later as part of her rental service. We are incredibly grateful for her generosity in allowing us to utilize her rental services. Kaitlyn is kind, sweet, and seems like a wonderful person. However, we encountered many issues while working with Kaitlyn that made the wedding planning process more stressful than it would have been if we did not hire her. She missed numerous scheduled phone calls – all of which required us to remind her of the scheduled call 15-minutes into the meeting. As a planner, this lack of reliability was unacceptable. Promised photos of décor were late, with no updates or follow-ups. She set a deadline (3.5 weeks before the wedding) for these photos, but they did not arrive on time, and we received no updates on their status. This caused unnecessary stress. Additionally, Kaitlyn failed to send the reception layout to the venue as promised. It took two months to finalize the layout, despite our persistent efforts to provide her with the necessary information. She was also responsible for managing RSVPs and our wedding website but did not fulfill these tasks or offer assistance. Pre-wedding communication was notably lacking. We had to initiate contact, request meetings, and check on task progress. Two weeks before the wedding, I requested a meeting to finalize details. During the call, Kaitlyn updated our timeline based on the venue’s timeline, rather than preparing beforehand. We had to repeatedly remind her of key details such as the absence of a cake, no grand entrance, and no official sendoff. These were details we reminded her of numerous times before. The night before the rehearsal, she texted asking for clarification on the ceremony lineup, which I had already emailed weeks earlier. On the wedding day, her performance was disorganized. She placed table numbers incorrectly, didn’t ask if we needed anything, and was reportedly rude to a guest asking for bug spray. She left without notifying us (the bride & groom), despite her promise to stay until the end of the night. She left us with the task of cleaning up our personal décor, contrary to her initial promises, and did not engage with guests, leaving them unaware of her role. Despite these issues, Kaitlyn did set up the décor that morning, and it looked nice. We gave her 2 stars instead of 1 due to her sweet nature and kindness. However, we are disappointed with our overall experience. Our beautiful wedding day was despite, not because of, Kaitlyn. We would not recommend her for partial planning until she gains more experience and improves her organization.
