Rene spent a lot of his youth in Monterrey and Sonora, where his parents were born, so a passion for Mexican cuisine was always rather likely. Prior to opening Rene's Mexican Kitchen, he was known as the founder of two other restaurants, Taco Bus and Taqueria Monterrey. Rene's love and talent for cooking have also seen him appear on TV several times, on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food," and the Cooking Channel's "Food Nation."
