Renton Technical College Catering Program

No one would have guessed our caterers were still in school. They did an AMAZING job and out-performed some of our "professionals."

The people are very nice and informative and the food is very good. Best of all is the price, it is the best per person price I could find for the quality of food provided!

Renton Tech Catering was amazing at my wedding!! They showed up on time, the staff was on top of their game and cleaning up after my guests! The food was yummy! Our guest were able to bring home the leftovers with the to-go-containers I provided. Colleen, the main person I've spoken with Colleen up until the day of the wedding was very very helpful and very prompt to all my emails. She was exceptionally helpful and nice. I'm so so happy that I went with Renton Tech Catering!!!

Very very friendly service. The manager will respond back pretty quickly. My only complaint is that they don't offer food tasting. I was disappointed with the taste and the quality of the food that day. But the price was unbeatable. I would recommend only to brides who are on a real tight budget and is not picky about the taste or the presentation of the food.

RTCC baked our cake as they were also our caterer. The cake was delicious! It looked as I imagined, not a gourmet cake design or anything fancy like on cake boss, they only have round and were not able to place the tier's off center, but hey, for a cake this cheap, I will compromise. We got a 3 tiered cake with 70 servings. We had 85 guests and we didn't use the top and I'd say 3/4 of the bottom were left at the end of the night.

RTC did an amazing job. They also made the cake and brought it to the wedding with the food. The servers did more than I ever expected and all the guests loved the food. Plus the price was incredible

We had a total of 170 guests coming to our wedding. We were told by RTC that we would only need to order 160 plates of food since kids were coming & some people don't eat as much. So we went with that and about 100 appetizers. The day of the wedding, one of the groomsmen saw the servers throwing away whole appetizers! Then for dinner, they took away the food WAYYY too early! I had guests leave to go grab some fast food since they didnt get anything. Then when we asked them if we could get more food set out they said it was all gone. However, when the MC/DJ/coordinator asked for another plate of food, they immediately opened up their truck (which was FULL of all the food they didnt put out) and served him up a plate! We are still trying to deal with them to get refunded for the crappy service & cheating us from the food we paid for. the only good thing i have to say about them was their meat and main dish was very good. their potatoes were disgusting though. you could hardly get them off the serving spoons. I would definitely NOT recommend them to anyone!

I had the idea for a long time to use Renton Tech to cater my wedding. Catering is so expensive and I didn't want to feed my family of big eaters tiny little helpings. At the same time, I wanted an elegant wedding. Renton Tech was nearly HALF the price of most caterers, especially for what we served! And for the service we got...I don't even know how to factor that savings. They were amazingly flexible...we tweaked the menu and guest count a few times, the last time being maybe a week beforehand and they were fine with it. We sat down with the manager and she answered all of our questions and helped us come up with a menu based on her expertise and recommendations. The food was DELICIOUS! We had a flank steak carvery station, dijon chicken, veggies, potatoes, rolls, fruit, and got SO many compliments on the food. I'm sure there is more "exquisite" catering available, but the food all looked and tasted great, was arranged nicely and filled everyone up. For me, simply the best part was the absolutely phenomenal service. They set up (they provided their own food table linens and they did have some rental/disposables for purchase. I provided disposables in my wedding colors, which they arranged), manned the carvery station, a beverage station, and picked up all the guest's plates, which I was NOT expecting. They even took care of the cake cutting FREE OF CHARGE and SERVED it to the guests. The students were all polite, delightful, and eager to do a great job. No attitudes, no problems, everyone working hard. The venue manager afterward talked to me about them, saying they were the best group she's ever had come in, and that she would be sure to recommend them to other brides. Oh, and they can't accept tips, being a state program. However, if you had as great experience as I, you can tip in the form of a donation to the program (there is a certain process you have to follow to do that, ask the manager). Any negatives? Um...their rental items are limited to the basics. You can't sample the food beforehand, but they do have an on-campus 'restaurant' if you have any questions about the skill level. They won't touch alcohol (fine by us, we bought ours at Costco for a savings) so you will have to hire a bartender. I don't think any of those were real negatives, but they might be for some people. Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing service. If you are someone who wants to have a big wedding, but wants an elegant wedding, but is trying to stick to a budget, you should definitely start here first. You won't be disappointed.
