Republic of Music bridged our mother-son dance song into the start of their set, allowing all our friends to dance with my Mom and I to kick off the dancing. They doubled down as our MC and even allowed some members of the audience on stage to sing with them, they’re so much fun and I can’t recommend them enough. From the outset, RoM scheduled many planning calls with us, talking through our vision with us and helping us bring the dance floor of our dreams to life, we’re so grateful for their energy and ability to make our night so special. Starting from the very beginning, Tiana was an incredible listener and truly wanted to help us bring our musical vision to life. We had some pretty, pretty specific requests in terms of song selection, genre, and do’s and don’ts, and Tiana only encouraged us to follow our instincts and go for it. This didn’t feel as much of an us vs them, but an overall group effort that was perfectly executed to our liking. Months later, we still have friends telling us that they’ll never recover from the dancing at our wedding. Our parents and their friends still talk to this day that they’ve never seen a better wedding band than Republic of Music, although I wouldn’t classify them as a wedding band but more of a band that I would genuinely pay to see on a Friday night. Tiana and ROM were attentive, kind, and most importantly, patient with us during our entire planning process. At the end of the day, if you’re not hiring Republic of Music for your wedding, you’re making a mistake.

This was also San Diego in July and the dance floor was HOT, yet everyone chose to embrace the sweat and stick it out on the dance floor rather than take a break on the breezy patio and we loved every minute of it. It was a night we will never forget and only made possible because of how amazing ROM is. During our first conversation with Tiana, we explained how we wanted to engage the crowd throughout the evening and gradually escalate to a full-blown party. She immediately understood what we wanted and executed it perfectly – even going so far as to hand the mic to my cousin (who is also a fantastic singer) and allowing her to serenade our guests with “Killing me softly with his song” before dinner. It was a huge hit with our guests and now my family sings along to that song at every family gathering. I think what I appreciated most about ROM is that they truly want to make it your day and they give you the ability to be as involved in the planning process as you want while providing their expert opinions. They know what songs will get people dancing and allowing them to do their thing, while mixing in a few personal touches/requests was exactly what we were looking for and ROM provided perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about Tiana and the rest of the band and am forever grateful we booked them for our special day! The lead singer was off the charts...the guitar solos were top notch! Every musician was an expert at his or her craft. We worked with Tiana to prepare for the big day and cannot speak highly enough of her professionalism and attitude. She was so easy to work with and made prep a breeze. She even generously accommodated last minute new song requests. RomProd is all about careful and extensive preparation to ensure a flawless event - we collaborated on a timeline & preferences worksheet and met for a 90 minute session with Tiana in the month before the wedding to ensure that we were aligned on every nuanced detail. RomProd is respectful of and will cater to your specific party needs...if you want to control the set list and level of crowd engagement, you absolutely can, or you can give them leeway to perform with minimal guidance. We shared our musical interests but trusted in their experience to be responsive to the crowd and put on a show, and they more than delivered! ess. Longer version: We decided to make the investment in a live band because we really wanted our guests to be dancing and enjoying themselves during our daytime wedding. ROM’s musicians came recommended by both our day-of coordinator (Melissa Tuvey-Barrad) and several venues we looked at. What also impressed us about Tiana and her team was how great they sounded in their videos across a wide variety of musical styles, and also simply how many promo videos they had posted on their website. We had complete confidence that we knew what we were signing up for. The organization skills of ROM were also impressive. Filling out their 31-page wedding worksheet (Example questions – what song will you walk in to? Will we announce your parents’ names during it? Will they be walking in or at their seats?) gave me a lot of confidence that everything was going to run smoothly, because a group of professional and fun humans were going to be following what we’d discussed. The day of the wedding turned into concert-dance party, and I as the bride had a total blast. They had 90% of our guests dancing on their opening Enrique Iglesias number, which then looped into a Stevie Wonder song, and people loved it. And they especially killed it with the classic rock song my Dad and I had requested for our dance that wasn’t in their standard playlist. The artists’ incredible musicianship nailed the guitar and keyboard solos to the level of any recording, which will definitely go down as one of my top three memories of day. The compliments from guests are still coming in – they were a joy!

She even helped us find a white stage skirt to rent to ensure we would have the look that we were going for and was accommodating with the size stage that would fit in our room. On the day of the wedding, they were the stars of the show! They emceed the whole night beautifully and they knew exactly what to do to get our guests out on the dance floor (which wasn't the easiest since we had a good amount of older people!) Every single person that hugged me goodbye was raving about this band! If you are debating whether to get a live band or a DJ, I'd say splurge and get the live band! THIS live band! Approximately three minutes into browsing bands on The Knot, we found RoM and couldn't imagine finding a better band to perform at our wedding--their live performance videos and extensive song list options had us instantly hooked. We messaged them for a quote and Tiana, the LadyBoss Rockstar herself, reached out to us the very next day. Honestly, there aren't enough words to describe how wonderful she was to work with. Tiana is not only incredibly kind with a great sense of humor, she's also extremely thorough and determined to do everything within her power to make sure your wedding vision comes to life. She even took it upon herself to work directly with our venue regarding their no amplified music policy which was a HUGE weight off my shoulders. The cello + keyboard duo we selected for the ceremony had our guests in tears and the band + DJ knew exactly how to keep the dance floor packed the entire night. I did my research in regards to bands as the music is so important to set the tone of the evening. They were even better than expected . Tiana was a dream to work with . She always had my back even when I was getting a bit overwhelmed . There was a long list of task to do which was sent via email . This could be a bit much but really important to make your party run smoothly. Tiana would keep me on task. Very supportive and I was able to chose our songs that reflect who we are and the music was so on point. The singers and the musicians were outstanding!
