When planning our wedding, we wanted a small wedding and a personal, intimate ceremony. We considered asking a friend to officiate and we are so glad we decided to go with Erika instead. She is a true professional, and it showed every step of the way. From her planning calls to get to know us, to detailed check ins ahead of the big day, she was always in communication with us. She knew exactly what suggestions to make, thinking of logistics and things we hadn’t even considered. We're so grateful we had Erika as our officiant and can't say enough good things about her! She is gracious, kind, warm, and has the best energy that fully envelops you - whether you're on a virtual planning call or standing next to each other during your wedding ceremony. Our guests all LOVED her and raved about the ceremony (which says a lot since it was also what was separating them for an open bar & food!) It even left a mark on the kids... a few weeks after the wedding our nieces asked us about how cooking with the salt (from the ceremony) had been going. Rev. Erika officiated our wedding this July and she was absolutely fantastic!!!! She was such a joy to work with on an officiant level and on a personal level. My husband Rob and I met Erika about 3 months ago via a zoom call and we instantly connected. We found Rev. Erika on The Knot because we were looking for an experienced officiant that was used to working with LGBTQ+ couples and we could not have found a better person. She worked very closely with us for those 3 months to ensure our ceremony was as perfect as it could be. We didn't know what to expect, as this is both our only time getting married, but she made the process fun and had us involved in the entire planning out of the ceremony. She had some really fun ideas for our ceremony. We wanted to pay homage to our loved ones who have passed, and to those who have made gay marriage legal for us. Rev. Erika helped us plan a ring warming part of our ceremony where our wedding bands were passed around the guests and each guest was allowed to hold the rings and put their best wishes, prayers, and intentions into the wedding bands. This was so special. Now my husband and I constantly fist bump our rings together because it feels like our rings have super powers :). We also worked with Erika to plan a hand fasting portion of the ceremony where she told our love story through questions each of us answered to her in secret laying cords over our hands as she told the story and she literally "tied the knot" around our hands into the shape of an infinity sign which we plan to frame in a shadow box for our future home. Just to brag on her a little bit more, Rob and I both feel like our wedding ceremony was the best one we have ever attended - which is great because it was our own. We are not the only ones who felt this way. Over the course of our reception night almost every single one of our guests told us our Rev. Erika was the best wedding officiant they have ever heard give a ceremony. We feel so lucky to have met her and to be able to now call her our friend. We can not recommend her enough. If you are an LGBTQ+ person or an ally she is the best person you could ever work with to plan out your ceremony. She takes her time to provide you with a ceremony this is so special and uniquely "'you". Her words were extremely powerful as if they were the words of the divine themself. From the very first meeting it was abundantly clear to us that Erika was exactly who we wanted to officiate our ceremony. Immediately there was a sense of joy and ease as she began to ask us questions about ourselves, about our story, and if we had any thoughts about what we wanted the ceremony to look like and feel like. At the end of the first meeting she laid out the roadmap of what our time together would look like as well as expectations she had for us and the work we would be accomplishing with her guidance. When it came closer to game day, the rehearsal couldn’t have gone any better. Push any worries about chaotic gatherings where it’s super stressful and you leave needing to lie down somewhere quiet. Our rehearsal was genuinely the most organized and calm one I (the bride) have ever been to. This is 100% because of how Erika clearly communicated her expectations for everyone in attendance right at the very beginning so we all knew our roles and what was needed from us in the moment. Honestly, the rehearsal was full of joy and laughter rather than stressful and overwhelming. Day of the wedding it was raining so we had to use a secondary location for the ceremony. All of the work we did with Erika leading up to this point made it so we didn’t really even have to think about the ceremony, how it would go, or if everyone knew their roles. Erika made sure we had point people for our rings and our handfasting ribbons who she checked in with before the ceremony. We ended up having some technical issues with the microphone and speakers we provided but you wouldn’t have known that by the way Erika navigated through that unexpected challenge. As soon as the ceremony started and Erika began with the welcome and calling to hold space we immediately felt all of the work we had done with Erika come to bountiful fruition and the ceremony was beyond what we could have dreamed. We loved that she took the time to get to know us as individuals as well as a couple to craft two sections during the ceremony telling the story of our engagement as well as our story as a partnership. This was an element that literally every single one of our guests said made them feel like they had been included in our story in such a beautiful and meaningful way. It felt even more important as this was the first time a lot of our most important people were meeting one another so by including these elements Erika, with skill and grace, immediately made everyone feel like they had access to our dynamic in a meaningful way. The pacing of the ceremony was so intentional, allowing for moments of reflection as well as community joy all facilitated by Erika. We utterly adore her and hold her very closely to our hearts. Erika came highly recommended to us by our ceremony venue in Portland, ME so we immediately reached out to her. When we decided to have an intimate wedding ceremony in Acadia National Park, it was so important for us to have an officiant who captured not only who we are as a couple, but as a family. When we first "met" Erika over a zoom call and picturing our ceremony together, we were feeling all the feels. She instantly made what we have always envisioned; a reality. Over the next few months, Erika was there to help guide us every step of the way; not only selecting the wording for our ceremony but also a resource in helping us plan logistics for the day. Rev. Erika Hewitt was everything we hoped for our officiant to be! We wanted our ceremony to heartfelt, special to us the couple being married, but also special to our guests, hopefully. Honestly, Erika was the best part of our wedding! I figured the reception would be my favorite part, but the ceremony was better than anything I could have imagined or hoped for! She had plenty of excellent suggestions that we loved, was very respectful and easy when we wanted to go diffirent directions than what was presented to us, and listened to us with enthusasium when we had ideas of our own. On the day of she delivered a beautiful ceremony that our guests loved as much as we did. Everyone told us how wonderful and moving it was and how fantastic Erika was. We had people coming up to us and gushing about her for the rest of the day. We would highly reccomend Erika to anyone, especially if you want to craft something special of your own, or want something "non-traditional" as we did.

Wow! We were so lucky to have found Erika to officiate our intimate beach wedding. There was so much that Erika brought to the table that I would have never imagined would be part of the gig! Our pre-marriage counseling was genuinely life changing and I would highly recommend this service to anyone ready to book with Erika. My husband and I hired Erika to officiate our microceremony at Acadia National Park. We are from Tennessee, so we really dug through the Internet to find someone who fit what we were looking for. We combed through pages of reviews and vetted several officiants to find our right fit. We inquired about Erika's services and had an initial meeting about what she was able to offer us. Immediately, we knew Erika was the officiant for us. Our initial meeting felt like we were talking to a family friend we had known for years. Throughout the next few months, Erika worked with us to craft the perfect ceremony for us. We were able to sort through different templates of text that we best liked for our ceremony. That helped make our ceremony unique and personal. We were able to ues the spiritual language we preferred most - Erika was great at leading conversations with to better understand our spiritual comfort level. Over time, we had a few Zoom meetings that led us to wedding week. We held a rehearsal the day before the wedding, which initially we were not interested in having when we hired Erika. I thought "ohh, we're having a microceremony...that's not necessary." Erika strongly suggested it and after working through logistics of the ceremony, we decided to have one and it was 100% necessary. On the day of the ceremony, we felt well prepared for what we needed to say, how our guests would stand around us, and how the ceremony would flow. Erika made us feel like our tiny ceremony was incredibly special and unique to us. Our guests were such an important part of our day and she made them feel important, too! I know everyone values different things about their wedding day, so I will end by saying that if your ceremony is one of the most important things to you, you should absolutely work with Erika for your wedding day.

Erika is absolutely fantastic. Brian and I found her online, we had an initial video chat with her and we knew immediately that we wanted her to be our officiant. She has such great energy, great ideas, and is just so personable. We video chatted with Erika many times to talk about what was important to us & to start crafting the ceremony. We landed on a script that felt so special, and right for us. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, Erika was flexible in all of our date and location changed. She officiated our intimate wedding ceremony in front of our parents & siblings and it was just perfect, better than we ever could have anticipated. I would recommend Erika to anybody in a heart beat, we felt lucky to have found her.

We used Erika for our premarital counseling. I HIGHLY recommend pre-marital counseling and I HIGHLY recommend doing it with Erika. We did 3 sessions which included the "prepare/enrich" questionnaire and a "family of origin" assessment, and the last session blended on themes from both. She was knowledgeable, professional, easy to work with and guided the conversations perfectly. This gave us such strong footing to start our marriage and is easily the best money spent out of any of our "Wedding budget" items.

We adored Erika. From the beginning, she made sure that our small family ceremony was truly about us. We were in Maryland, so we had several Facetime calls where she really made an effort to get to know us as a couple and what our vision was. She worked with us to craft the ceremony that we wanted, and went above and beyond to learn the stories behind everything (my great grandmothers engagement ring, the Velveteen Rabbit reading we chose, our family members' names and relation to each other). Everything was wonderful. Especially during COVID, and when it rained until 15 minutes before the ceremony, Erika worked with us to make sure that it was everything we wanted. I could not have better things to say about this woman. As one says, weddings cause a lot of stress for everyone involved, but nothing more so than what we weathered this year planning and rearranging our planning due to COVID19. A wedding in a pandemic could very well have meant that we were stressed to the max with no one to turn to, but Erika was there every step of the way. She’s the most flexible, easy going person to work with as we did all of our meetings over video due to risk. But that just goes to show how fantastic she is, that we never for a moment felt that we weren’t connected to her. She was there every time I needed to vent about how hard the process was, and she was always supportive, attentive and prompt with all of the information she gave us. She truly made our entire wedding and ceremony so peaceful because she cares so much about the story behind who you are and how you became a couple. Also she offers other services such as marital counseling that gave me and my partner a chance to connect on a deeper level and have the right headspace to enter into marriage. If you are looking for someone who is vibrant, who has seemingly limitless energy for questions, and who will make everyone tear up over how beautiful the ceremony is, Erika is the officiant for you. We are entering our first year of marriage with full hearts because of how perfect she made our day.
