Reverend Kris did the most beautiful handfasting /vow renewal ceremony for us. It's a long read but worth it if you're feeling anxious, unsure, or pressured in any way.
Her website has an astounding amount of readings, vows, ring exchanges, an...d more to choose from, which she has conveniently organized to just the category youre looking for. She let us customize our ceremony from start to finish at an incredibly reasonable cost. I was sending youtube videos and screenshots of what I liked, scribbling out parts I didn't, or saying "please change the wording here to make it make sense for us". I felt we were very picky since we had different needs/wants from other couples and what other officiants talked about with us. In fact, one of the biggest reasons I chose her at first was because she didn't ask for a deposit based on a 5 minute phone call before even seeing related drafts/examples. The control freak in me felt seen and validated, we were not just a paycheck, and I never felt pressured at any point.
The day of went so smooth, even with no rehearsal. Our parents forgot everything I told them ahead of time about their roles and let's be honest...my husband was in the car onnthe way there asking "what are our vows, in what order do we say them?" like it was the first time we talked about it. You would have never known though, she effortlessly guided the whole thing and made me feel at ease, which says a lot. She even coordinated with the photographer for things I hadn't thought about.
Finally, our guests were misty eyed, some actually crying, the entire time. We actually heard an audible "aww!" from the neighbors spying, since it was my Parent's yard. Our families kept going on afterwards about how meaningful and beautiful it was, how great of a job Reverend Kris did, and how it fit so perfectly that it must have been written just for us. I think she made them forgive and forget that we didn't invite them to our previous private city hall elopement, the ceremony wasn't in the catholic church, and I didnt change my last name or have my father walk me down/give me away!
Go ahead, break the rules, have the wedding of your dreams. Reverend Kris made ours exactly what we wanted.
