Rey Caparros Photography and Cinematography

We’re not people who generally write reviews but we really felt like we should after our experience. And it’s a shame too because we really went in with such high hopes especially after our engagement pictures. But things quickly became challenging. The two main ways we would describe Rey are: Poor business person and not incredibly creative. We first contacted Rey to work with us in October 2018 for our November 2019 wedding and only now in January 2021 do we consider our business concluded. So if you’re looking for someone who will deal with you in a timely manner, Rey is not meant for you. Granted some of this time encompassed 2020 COVID times and his focus was drawn elsewhere but ultimately he could not balance his responsibilities. Beyond that his business acumen is not great. He didn’t communicate timely or clearly and took his time cashing our very large check payment which we needed him cash so we had that money out of our account. Now onto his products of photography and videography. We found after the fact of looking through our engagement and wedding photos that Rey was not incredibly creative. We aren’t models and relied on a professional to help us get good shots but a majority of what we ended up with were kissing and dipping shots. Our wedding party was mostly told to look at each other and laugh. To make our book he gave us literally every photo that was taken even the obviously unusable ones, leaving it to us to muddle through and choose 80. It took until late Spring/early Summer of 2020 to get this book even though we gave our choice of photos to use by February but it was somewhat because of COVID.. Now to the video which took until late Summer 2020 to get. The video seemed choppy and barely edited. We hear the camera shutter and photographer talking in the background. It ended abruptly. There were things cut that shouldn’t have been and things kept in that should have been taken out. In all fairness, the video was redone after some of these issues were raised. Though if you want a dvd copy, you’ll most probably have to do this yourself. Overall a somewhat difficult and disappointing experience working with him. Our photos are nice but somewhat cliche and the video is a nice document of the day but not the productive value we would have thought. We have some very pretty pictures to display, we do. He did get some lovely shots. But from the way Rey sold himself, we expected more. And maybe if the business side of things wasn’t so challenging we wouldn’t have felt the need to write this review. Overall, everything was good not great. Others may have a better experience than us. Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe our personalities just didn’t mesh.
