Ri Ra Irish Pub Charlotte

We really wanted to use Ri Ra for the reception. The upstairs space (music room and whiskey room) are beautiful and would have needed very little decoration. It seats 95 between the bar and pub tables, plus a nice outside area. We met with Michelle about the space and that's where everything fell apart. Michelle was super flaky when we met and toured the space, not telling us much other than describing the rooms (i.e. this is the whisky room, look at all the whisky. This is the music room with posters from Irish concerts). It seemed as though she had no idea what she was doing. My fiance and I talked about it afterward, we loved the atmosphere and the space so much that we decided it was absolutely where we wanted our reception. We e-mailed Michelle (the method Michelle requested). We didn't hear from her for 2 weeks. We sent a second e-mail and another week went by with no response. I sent her a knot message (the original way that I contacted her). A week and a half later I got an e-mail response. She was excited we would use their space and would send us an event request through gather so we could secure the space. A month went by, 2 e-mails and a phone message and we still have not heard from her. It's so disappointing because we really had our hearts set on ri ra for the reception. In the end though it's probably a blessing because if this is what it's like just to reserve the space, I'd imagine it would be a disaster when it finally came down to having the reception there. Hopefully if you rent this space, you'll have a better experience than I did. I think it's also important to mention that the space, while gorgeous, is long and narrow. This makes it difficult to lay out for a reception and will require a little bit of creativity. Overall my suggestion is to steer clear of this venue unless they can find a new event planner.
