Rich even managed to capture genuine smiles from my introverted hubby. His turnaround time on the photos were also magically fast (1 week). If I were to give future clients of his a recommendation, it would be first to hire Rich, and second to have a face to face meeting to review the shot-list (whether it be online or in person). Let him do his magical photographer magic the day of, but if you have a specific photo you want then make sure you ask for it. We received 950 photos in 1 week, and I ended up only hiding about 15 before sharing the link with friends and family. They are all stunning and I'm going to have the hardest time narrowing them down for our wedding album. Nuts and Bolts: This section of my review is more to give other couples advice I wish I was given. All of these vendors work weddings all the time, but generally speaking for us brides (and grooms) this experience is a first. So I feel like if I were told the below tips I think my already good experience would have then been great. *I absolutely would still hire Rich Smith Photography over any other if we had to do it again as he was perfect for our wedding day.* 1. Rich is a busy guy. Only expect to communicate with him a few weeks before each shoot (engagement, wedding). We might have been an odd case because we had a 3 year lead time (that's another story) plus an unprecedented busy wedding season, but still something to consider. 2. When you review the shot-list, see if you can do some sort of face to face meeting instead of a phone call or email. I love vast majority of the huge amount of photos that were returned to us, but there are a few pictures that I thought would be there but weren't. And I think that was more me not clearly communicating, and my desire to stay on schedule, rather than him missing a shot on the list. 3. On the day, he's going to tell you to grab him during the reception if you want specific pictures with people. I was being pulled in every which way, so I forgot. My recommendation is don’t wholly accept that responsibility. Instead, also tell someone in your bridal party to help remind you throughout the evening. 4. Don't be intimidated, and advocate for what you want. Rich is a super down to earth guy. But his contract, reputation, and busy schedule intimidated me. My focus became wanting him to like me rather than giving examples of what images were important to me. Because of this, I ended up getting in my own way. Like I said before, I am glad we hired Rich and would probably do so again if we were living in a groundhog day kind of world. Thank you Rich for beautifully capturing such a momentous day!
