Rich in historic grandeur, Riggs Washington DC is located in the heart of Penn Quarter, at the corner of 9th and F St. The former Riggs National Bank building is a stunning example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Constructed in 1891 the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places with many of the original banking features still visible.
Even with the grand architectural details and soaring ceilings; it’s the little things that couples will treasure; the attention to the smallest details in the design scheme and the genuine personalized nature of the service when hosting a wedding at the hotel.

- Karen BambrickDirector of Catering & EventsGrowing up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada: an area known for its “Newfoundland Hospitality”. (The Tony-winning Broadway musical "Come From Away" gives you a taste of that very quality), was where Karen Bambrick realized she was drawn to the world of hospitality and cuisine. Majoring in Arts studies would serve her later in her culinary pursuits. During her time as a university student, Karen began working at a small “boutique” café, eventually moving from the floor to the kitchen where her talents were first recognized. In 1990, she later studied at the renown Dubrulle French Culinary School, where she topped her class, resulting in job offers at various restaurants, including those of some of her instructors. Karen eventually expanded her focus to management roles at highly respected establishments and properties in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, including Marriott, The Ritz Carlton and Fairmont Château Laurier. Her experience and expertise were also called upon to judge culinary competitions at Ottawa’s Cordon Bleu culinary school. As word of her talent and professionalism spread, Karen was sought out at various times for her insight and creativity, giving her an opportunity to move her expertise of Catering, Event Management, as well as Food and Beverage Management to America. Karen has worked at various Marriotts around Virginia, The Liaison Capitol Hill (with Chef Art Smith) in Washington, DC, Director of Catering at The LINE Hotel (DC), and now the Director of Catering and Events at Riggs Washington DC and LYLE Washington DC. Karen has been asked to be on the opening team for two hotels (The Ritz-Carlton Toronto and LINE DC). Her work ethic, commitment and creativity have all served to garner praise, accolades and loyalty, and her client list includes actors, activists, politicians, Grammy-winning musicians, international media corporations, and a former President and First Lady. She would love the opportunity to unveil her creative ideas to you too.
- Brittany PfeifferEvent ProducerBrittany grew up in South Carolina and have always had a connection to the hospitality world - it's something she was exposed to early on through her family and jobs while growing up. In college, Brittany studied Theatre and Business Administration at the College of Charleston, and during that time, she got her first real taste of events! Brittany had the opportunity to work directly under the Director for the Charleston Food & Wine Festival. During that time, she found love for the pace, the creativity, and the chance to bring people together through meaningful experiences. After moving to Washington DC, Brittany joined the team at Riggs Washington DC. In her three and a half years of working at the company, she naturally found her way into weddings and have loved every second of it. As the Event Producer here, she works closely with couples and planners to help bring their vision to life, hoping to make each detail feel thoughtful and personal. Brittany has found so much fun and purpose on this path – whether it’s collaborating with her team or bringing people together over amazing food. She loves being able to play a part in making an experience as seamless and special as possible.

We were so happy to have our wedding at the Riggs! Not only was the space beautiful, but the Riggs team was so helpful and accommodating every step of the way. Every member of the ...
Riggs Team we met made us feel special and taken care of. Also, the food and drinks were AMAZING! Our family and friends that stayed at the hotel for the weekend also had wonderful experiences. We could not recommend the Riggs enough.

to communicate, easy to work with, and accommodating for our needs. On the day of the wedding, I was so impressed with how the team handled a conflict-- we had a big spill during the room flip (water, glass and fire!) that required the entire table to be disassembled, cleaned, then redesigned. Their team was on it! They radioed to get it cleaned within seconds, had all the glass swept up, new linens on, and places set in record time. The service is amazing, and the venue is gorgeous. Highly recommend!
