If you're getting married, please READ this review.
Now, that I'm all settled from the wedding and honeymoon, I can finally take the time to honestly express my feelings about Riley's Florist. I got married on May 4, 2019. I found Riley's Florist on Yelp. There were many raving reviews--so much so that I felt compelled to pay them a visit. This was on January 18, 2019. Now, let's get to the actual order. My wedding colors were navy blue, burgundy and champagne. I ordered 4 bouquets, 2 corsages, and 20 table floral arrangements. The chosen flowers were white hydrangeas, champagne roses, dark blue delph and burgundy stock. The total came to $714.51. I paid half--$357.26. Just one week later (January 25, 2019 to be exact), I called in to pay the balance of $357.25 over the phone. I received receipts via email for both payments. In early March, I revised my order. ). Because of this bridal party change, I requested one of the bouquets slightly bigger and to add a boutonniere. Additionally, I got an exact table count for the reception venue and found I'd ordered 2 extra table floral arrangements. Riley assured me that the 2 less table floral arrangements would offset the cost of the bigger bouquet and boutonniere and I'd essentially break even on cost. He said he'd email the updated and paid invoice. It took two months to get a new emailed invoice. I even had to show proof of full payment twice when inquiring about the new invoice. On April 1, I finally received the invoice. But, here's the catch, the paid in full balance reflected a grand total of $692.73--$21.78 shy of the amount I'd paid. I was only one month out from my wedding. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find a replacement florist at such late notice. So, even though I noticed the invoice manipulation, I still pressed forward. I even sent Riley an apology email because of my oversight. When the wedding day arrived, I will say that they arrived on time with everything ordered--including the corsage I said I didn't need. But, none of the floral arrangements were in my wedding colors. The dark blue delph appeared to be purple-ish, the roses were white/beige and the burgundy was very minimal. The only appealing flower was the white hydrangeas. But, let's just look on the bright side--at least I HAD flowers and they arrived on time.
I would not recommend Riley's Florist for large events--especially weddings. I just don't believe they are very professional and hold themselves accountable. I must not fail to maintain that Riley has a way of taking you on a rollercoaster ride of conversation--to the point that you forget what you were even asking about in the first place. I'd assume it's his clever way of deflecting from a situation. True, Riley boasts about the duration and success of his business and how his top florist, Scott, is well-known on television but, the fact is, fame means nothing when you forget about the little people. I'm a woman who didn't have a heap of money but I paid upfront because I wanted the perfect wedding--and I trusted Riley to help with the floral aspect of that. I guess I wasn't important enough.
I’m skeptical when vendors have all 5 star ratings, but Riley truly deserves a full 5 stars. We booked him for our wedding in September and I cannot say enough good things about him. I know nothing about flowers. When Riley and I first sat down to talk in February, I thought I wanted sunflowers and wild flowers as my main statement pieces. In June I realized my wedding planning had gone in a completely different direction and I wanted my bouquet to reflect that. I met with him again and basically said, “I want a more bridal feel to it with less chaos and more white”, showed him our centerpieces and aisle decor, and that was it. He always sends out a preview a few days before but because of where I live I never got the picture. I literally saw my bouquet 15 minutes before I walked down the aisle and I nearly cried it was so perfect. He and his partner know what they’re doing. Trust them, don’t try to micromanage them, and I promise you will be happy with the result. Also! He was VERY in budget. I’m convinced I didn’t pay for half the flowers he used. He puts his reputation before his profit and it shows in the results. Visit his website for pictures.
Riley is so fun and talented to work with. We gave him a flower budget and he worked diligently to give us everything and more that we wanted. The week before our wedding Riley even called and asked if he could include more flowers into our centerpieces at no cost to enhance the look. They turned out so much better and I was so grateful for it. All the flowers were so affordable. We will continue to use Riley's for the rest of our lives!
Normally I do not disagree with anyone epically a brida but Jessica's review was totally made up. They do not have a place on here to reply. I have a staff and floral professionals that would have serviced this order. :(
I wanted a simple small round white rose clutch bouquet for an elopement. Called, talked with Riley and we seemed to be on the same page- White roses, no greenery. He said it was required to pay ahead for the bouquet, so I did. Went to pick up the bouquet and it was nothing like what I wanted. There were maybe 5 roses with wilted brown petals and a lot of filler flowers with plenty of green. He couldn't find my invoice to see if I paid. If it's policy to pay in advance, he should know that I already paid. Walked out to my car and worked up the courage to walk back in and ask if there was anything he could do to fix it. I was polite & clearly disappointed. He grabbed the bouquet and started ripping out leaves at the counter & proceeded to tell me he had been doing this for 25 years. I left with the flowers, still completely unhappy. I ended up going flower free for my wedding. Don't waste your time or your money!
My husband and I reached out to Riley when our DIY centerpieces became a much bigger project than we had imagined.
We chose Riley's because the storefront is only a few blocks from our home.
Every conversation we had with Riley was extremely rushed, and we learned that he was short-staffed at the time. We were a little reluctant, but thought he's still a professional and can do what we were wanting in the time frame we needed. They were relatively simple centerpieces - five various vases at each table, four with succulents and one with flowers.
We discussed the flowers and color schemes, and Riley seemed confidant in his abilities to deliver. We provided the glass vases (which we spent weeks hand-painting), and Riley would add the arrangements (succulents and eggplant-tinted hydrangeas).
The night before the wedding, my husband received a call from Riley that he had broken several of our one-of-a-kind vases. He didn't realize they were glass, even though we had specifically told him that they were glass. We agreed at that point that we would trust him to find a reasonable substitute to replace those.
When I arrived at our venue for the first look, Riley was there and there was another problem - our taller vases for flowers weren't standing up properly due to them being top-heavy. I reluctantly agreed to leave them out of the arrangements, despite the fact that I had been insistent on having an odd-number of vases (I'm in an art and design field, so I understand the importance of odd numbers balancing compositions).
While having the first look, I walked through water and soil that was on the floor (unbeknownst to me). We learned this was from a spill Riley was responsible for and didn't clean it up. We hadn't even had the ceremony yet and my train was now already filthy because of him.
After the ceremony, I finally had a chance to look at the centerpieces. The hydrangeas were the completely wrong color. They were supposed to be a deep eggplant, but they were shoddily sprayed and turned out white and a very light lilac. The succulents looked like they were thrown together at the very last minute.
We requested pin-on corsages, but they were wrist corsages. The boutonnieres and bouquets were very underwhelming. My bouquet was supposed to incorporate a few roses, but there weren't any.
My husband and I are pretty easy-going, but we were sorely disappointed with everything florist-related. We would not recommend Riley's to anyone.
I could not have asked for anything more. He listened to what I wanted and that exactly what I got! The flower arrangements were beautiful and my bouquet was made to fit and what I asked for!
Riley provided beautiful flowers for our wedding. He managed to put peonies in my bridal bouquet, so that it smelled wonderful!
We were very pleased with the bouquets, the centerpieces at the reception, and the head table arrangement.
We looked at several places to do our flowers, and I felt the most comfortable/liked Riley's the best. We were doing the wedding on a budget though, and I wasn't sure if we would be able to afford them. But he quoted me a price $100 cheaper than anything else, and the flowers were BEAUTIFUL. Our photographers said that they had never seen such beautiful wedding flowers. The service was amazing, and the flowers completely surpassed my expectations. I would recommend Riley's to anyone.
Riley is a great guy and fun to work with. He was very punctual on wedding day and is very concerned with customer satisfaction.;As much as I like Riley, I must say I was not overly impressed with my flowers. They weren't as pretty as I hoped. He threw in a few extra things. I wasn't too crazy about the quality of ribbon he used. All in all, my flowers just weren;t what I had envisioned. They look nice in the pictures though!
Riley is great. I told him exactly what I wanted and he designed the perfect bouquets to match my ideas and gave us a great deal. He was very easy going and great to work with.
Riley is awesome. The wedding flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages were all we used) were beautiful, reasonably priced and Riley is so enthusiastic, you'd think it was his own wedding! In addition, my husband sends me flowers from there regularly, and overall, Riley is simply the best florist in the area.
