Located just outside of Culpeper in Boston, VA, Rillhurst Events is a rural wedding venue. From spring 2020, they are open for wedding ceremonies and receptions for couples who want to get married in a rustic setting with stunning natural scenery. A family-owned and operated property, they understand how essential it is to dedicate time to celebrating love.
The original farmhouse at Rillhurst dates back to 1750, while the farmland has remained in the Alphin family for 11 generations. Alongside operating as a venue for special events, the property is still used as a cattle farm. By doing this, the Alphin family can share the beauty of nature while remaining true to the land’s origins. They want to offer a unique location for couples who want their day to focus on their love for one another. They believe the day itself should be a reprieve from the stresses of modern life, and offer their farm as an escape.
With picturesque rolling green fields and open plains, this venue offers 550 acres of natural beauty to act as a backdrop to wedding celebrations. Couples can enjoy the serenity of the large, tranquil lake while they absorb the magnitude of the day. The barn’s large doors thrown open to the surrounding environment, inviting the outdoors in. The historic farmhouse, with its red-brick walls, boasts views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the land while relaxing in the newly renovated comfort of the building.
Across indoor and outdoor sites, Rillhurst’s already idyllic appearance can be further enhanced by couples’ own wedding decorations. Tented celebrations by the lakeside can enhance the fairytale atmosphere with masses of twinkling lights, mimicking the stars in the night sky. The farmhouse’s back deck has sweeping vistas of the Virginia countryside, perfect for cocktail receptions. Couples can decide how much of the estate they want access to, and for how long. The Alphins are committed to providing everything that you could want, whether that’s dancing the night away in a romantic barn, or a lakeside exchange of vows.

If you are looking for a rustic, scenic, and peaceful venue for your wedding, Rillhurst is the perfect spot! From the beginning, Ian was informative, responsive, and so friendly. W...
e loved learning about the property and all the ways we could use the venue space to cater the place to our desires. We had the opportunity to do an engagement shoot and walk through before our wedding date which made us fall in love with the venue even more. We spent three days on the property for the wedding for rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and a day after brunch which extended the celebration and allowed for precious time with family. Leading up to the wedding, Ian was so attentive and encouraging about the plans and processes of the wedding day. If you book with Rillhurst, you are guaranteed to have a memorable, beautiful, and peaceful wedding day!
My husband and I had the wedding weekend of our dreams here! Ian & his family were incredibly easy to work with and so flexible/ willing to accommodate our ideas. The property and ...
guest house are beyond stunning. Couldn't recommend Rillhurst enough!
From the moment we stepped onto the property, we knew our search was over. We fell in love with the Manor, beautiful farmland and grounds immediately. It was a great experience fr...
om the beginning all the way to the end. The staff were very easy to work with and available whenever we had any questions. We had a wonderful time and everything was perfect for our weekend stay.
We highly recommend Rillhurst Farm!
We loved working with Rillhurst Farms and would recommend them to everyone! What you’re getting is a venue you hardly need to dress up at all. It IS the aesthetic in its natural st...
ate, and if you get a package where you can stay the night before, the rehearsal dinner can also be hosted there, so the entire weekend is in one place.
After our initial tour, we both felt like we’d stumbled upon a hidden gem. Ian was so accommodating with our various requests, tours, and problem solving to help us figure out exactly what we were looking for. We loved the relaxed energy of everyone we worked with. The actual wedding weekend was absolutely beautiful, and everyone we talked to commented on how magical and fairy-tale like the location was. We stayed overnight the night before the wedding with the whole bridal party and had the rehearsal dinner on the deck. They even offered a parking attendant to help facilitate the wedding day. You get access to the entire venue, so we had a lakeside ceremony, cocktail hour in the yard, and the reception in the barn, and took family photos across the lake. Everything went absolutely smoothly. We seriously could not recommend this higher! You will not regret it.
We finally got to have my daughter's wedding after multiple covid postponements! The team at this venue is the best! Ian and Lanie are so helpful and quick to respond. Staying ...
at the venue for the weekend took this to another level. The Farmhouse is the perfect mix of historic and modern and wonderfully equipped for a group stay. They thought of everything to make it comfortable! The grounds are amazing and offer so many places to relax and then celebrate. Everybody loved our cocktail hour off of the back deck and under the pecan tree! The barn was so beautiful and with our added touches was just a memorable night!! Thank you to everyone at Rillhurst for the best experience ever!!!
We are so incredibly grateful and happy that we chose Rillhurst Farm as our venue. Our wedding day felt perfect to us. Lanie and Ian were our main contacts and they were just amazi...
ng. They were helpful, welcoming, and accommodating every step of the way. Ian gave us a great tour of the farm and very thorough walk through two weeks before with our vendors. We really appreciated that we never felt rushed or pushed at any step of the way. He was also just a text away the entire weekend and helped us with any issues we had, like figuring out where the trash goes or having a gate opened. And every time I emailed Lanie (and I did so many times with random questions) she answered back so quickly and helped me with whatever I needed. I really appreciated that I could count on them. My family rented the manor house for the wedding weekend and our stay was so comfortable and luxurious. The house has historic charm but also the modern fittings of a fancy hotel. Every window has a picturesque view. If you have your wedding at Rillhurst, please do yourself a favor and stay at the house. Our actual wedding day felt like a dream. The chairs and tables were set up perfectly for our florist and event planner. Our ceremony was during golden hour by the lake with a background chorus of frogs and birds singing, which we loved. The reception was in the barn and it looked so pretty with the hanging lights they have set up in the rafters. We rented a bathroom trailer which was very useful because it was close to the barn. It does get very dark at night so we loved that our guests didn't have to walk far to use it. Overall we had an amazing experience at Rillhurst and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to have an intimate, scenic wedding. Thank you to the amazing team at Rillhurst!
Rillhurst farm is an amazing place to get married!! From the multiple ceremony locations to the beautiful farm house on site to get ready in, this venue has it all. Our guests rave...
d about how beautiful this venue was. The barn served as our reception location and has permanent lights hung that make it that much more magical.
Rillhurst has so many different offerings that it made our wedding truly unique and magical. First, they have a beautiful farmhouse that my guests were able to stay in for the whol...
e weekend. The decor, linens, and mattresses were sooo comfortable and we immediately felt at home. The kitchen is gorgeous and I loved making breakfast with my bridesmaids the morning of my wedding. We also had our rehearsal dinner out on the large and brand-new deck. We fit four large farmhouse tables and 20 chairs there, and the bistro lights hung around the deck added so much romantic ambiance. For the actual ceremony, we had so many spots to pick from. We could have gotten married on their brand new dock, or out at their wooden altar at the far edge of the pond, or underneath a large oak tree near the farmhouse and near the barn for our reception. We opted for the oak tree and the Rillhurst group was so open to doing anything/everything unique and funky we wanted to do. I was able to hang flowers from the tree and the venue staff was excited and so helpful in making that happen with the florist. They got the ladders out on the morning of the wedding and troubleshooted with the florist to get it looking exactly right. The barn for the reception is just steps from the farmhouse. The barn has lights strung up that created a wonderful rustic vibe. My guests had a great time and we danced all night in the barn and ending the night looking up at the stars as a group. So happy I found Rillhurst and was able to have my dream wedding there!
My fiance and I recently toured Rillhurst Farm and it was nothing short of amazing!!! I first spoke with Delanie as I was just inquiring more information about the venue, packages...
, ect. She was so sweet and warm, answering all my questions and even got back to me regarding a few things in a very timely manner. I next spoke with Ian to set up a tour that weekend and he too was very professional and just all around personable. As soon as we pulled up to the venue, i couldn't help but smile at how beautiful this property was!! Ian and his cousin Jake toured us around and gave us ample time by ourselves to discuss things, how we liked it, what we thought without EVER feeling pressured or anything. Needless to say we came back the following day with my parents to sign a contract with Rillhurst Events. Even at the end in signing, I had some questions regarding the contract and all my concerns/ questions were answered. My mother even said it was Ian and Jake who immediately sold her on this venue as they were just so genuine and could tell they truly wanted to make my dream wedding happen. I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone to who may be looking!!
